I’m surprised he said “AWD system” when it has a true 4wd system, but he was right to surmise that the Touraeg can go almost anywhere. Wish more people would put proper tires on machines like this to bring out their true potential. Great job though.
@@thebeast9606 Yea, it's been kinda crazy. I've had the valve gaskets replaced twice. The AC compressor was out when I got it. It leaks a lot of oil, even after replacing the valve gaskets. The crank case breather valve broke and threw all kinds of errors. The crazy thing is with all that, I still love driving this thing.
@@bobbred128 At least you are honest. A true enthusiast with honesty is rare. Nothing wrong with anyone having a passion for their vehicle. What happens too often are people that have rigs with noted problems, stick up for them stating they are not problematic. There is no argument that Jeeps, LRD's, Touareg's and the likes are not capable of off road adventures. But to say they do not have problems or expensive repair bills is to be a bold faced liar that cannot cover up the truth. lol So enjoy your vehicle and tell anyone that argues about the bills, that you don't them because it is fantastic. ;)
@Sonny Mercado. My Touareg does have an AWD system. I define that as 4WD that never turns off. I cannot put this rig into 2WD. There is a cool article about how my 1st Gen Treg's AWD systems works. It looks like it's about 38:62 power ratio under normal driving conditions. Maybe 50:50 depending on who you ask. 😀
With the air suspension and the right tires you get more ground clearance than a jeep rubicon. Paired with center and rear diff locks it can keep up with the best of them
How much difference does the rear diff lock make? I only have a centre diff lock in mine with air suspension. And with videos I've seen, the auto lockers with the traction control seem to do a good job.
The traction control does a really good job. Better then most other cars I've driven. I think the rear locker makes a difference if your trying to do a slower crawl. The power is already 25/25 split in the back. No need to wait or get your RPMs up to make the traction control move power around. In the real world I think the rear locker makes a difference when things get super rough.
Probably ur right about the normal off-road mode , its a beast! Got one 08 4.2 but without the air suspensions, i think im buying 2016+ 4.2 diesel soon
I have one of these. Definitely helps dropping the wheel size and going with a more aggressive tire and a 2" lift. It's a monster.
I am currently doing some more work to this rig to make it even more off road capible.

So true. When those tires wore out, I got some good all terran tires. Big difference.
@@bobbred128 How has the maintenance been? Are you facing the super expensive repairs that people complain about?

What an amazing car. I had one , tomorrow i’ll go buy another one. However the diesel engines are state of the art compared to petrol engines.

This is awesome!! I never thought touareg would do that.
Dang, and that’s with road tires.
If you put ats on your vehicle gets awesome grip. I have a 2004 gen 1 v8
Those tires are the weak spot.
Kayak Uprising Are they? The car made it through all the obstacles.
Get the one with the front and back diff locks and sway bar disconnect. They can be had for cheap
I love seeing Touaregs off road...
Touareg V10 THE BEST FOREVER !!!
Right monster, wrong tires 😈
