I loved you video. I think body wise I'm a FG, but I have softer facial features all around so I can't have too sharp looking clothing on the top half near my face because it looks out of place. My best outfits lean a little soft gamine, but my body is angular. So I guess I have to blend the two. I'm still learning. This was very helpful. Thank you.

Interesting. My main thoughts watching this were that as FG I would feel like I looked childish in some of these outfits, however a softer, more ‘womanly’ frame could bring more maturity to these looks. Another great video :)

That's exactly how I felt. As an FG, I feel more feminine when I'm wearing less feminine silhouettes and styles. Thanks for watching!

Hi Frani, your videos have helped me along with my journey of discovering the lines in my body. Although I’m a soft gamine, you’ve helped me learned a lot about my lines through the way you learn about your lines. And when I look at myself, I do see what you’ve mentioned from time to time about gamines having broken lines and certain shapes in our bodies. I had the most eye-opening moment when in one of your past videos you mentioned that you can see trapezoidal shapes within your body and that’s when I started to notice the same thing within my own body too. My yin comes from my flesh as I have very fleshy upper arms and thighs but I lack the curves and roundness in my torso that romantics have. The curves that I have at my “hips” are coming from my upper thigh flesh hence they’re wider than my hips. So you can imagine, from my waistline down to my upper thigh it mimics a trapezoidal shape! I went clothes shopping and tried on some very high waisted denim shorts that were tightest at the narrowest point of my waist with the ends of the shorts ending right at the widest point of my upper thighs and I almost cried because I have never looked this good in shorts before! Plus the hems of the shorts were folded and that further accentuated the trapezoidal shape with a yin touch. I didn’t look short with stubby legs in fact it made me look cute and petite and somehow more proportionate! Ever since, I’ve been discovering more and more about the shapes and lines within my body and how certain clothes would compliment or go against my lines. I love how you integrate mental health and fashion as a part of a journey to discovering oneself. You’re like a big sister I wish I had. Your videos give me a sense of comfort as a safe space to be in. I wouldn’t normally comment on videos but after watching your videos for a bit I just had to let you know! Keep doing what you’re doing as you have no idea how many lives you’ve touched and impacted ❤️ And my feet are pretty wide too. I have big gaps in between my toes!

Same! For the longest time I kept thinking I was an hourglass and probably romantic. But after really looking, the width is in my thighs not my hips! I’m so glad I’m not the only one

I've always been using SG clothes, without even know about kibbe because I didn't know how to dress myself, and didn't have much curves soo felt the need to look more feminine... but when you're a Gamine, you look more childish, more young, and it's kinda hard to be taken seriously. I don't feel this need anymore to look feminine, I feel comfortable in my body, but I still like some touch of femininity in my look's, and I still learning about how to dress myself as a FG and balance it out, how have a mature approache with some cute stuff going around.

As a slightly overweight soft gamine, big boxy jackets look terrible on me. It feels impossible to find a good jacket that is both cropped AND more fitted/tapered at the waist. If the length falls anywhere near my hips, it usually looks really disproportionate on me. I've been looking for a cropped fitted blazer for like 2 months now...everything is oversized or too long for me even tho I'm 5-5". I look really good in soft peplum tops, sarong and trumpet skirts, and cropped high waisted straight leg jeans (but not too straight), and tapered-toe flats with cool details on them. It's really hard to find dresses that work. Anything more than like an inch below my knee looks weird. Fit and flare is cool I guess as long as the flare isn't too big.

Your choices for soft gamine looked right on to me. I am a FG and can resonate re: the differences between the two. Pattern and color can make all the difference in what is great for a FG vs what is great for SG. I consider SG to be a more girlish and delicate vs a FG that needs more rock n roll with some sharp and angular points.

These are cute looks the only thing I would take out is the denim jacket. As a SG myself I know this would be too wide or lose fitted for a SG. If you really wanted to try the jacket I would keep all other elements of the look form fitted, but even then the jacket will hide your curves. SG’s need structure and contrast but are easily overwhelmed in loose fitted clothing, especially if the garment is not designed for curves like this jacket which is designed for someone with a broad and vertical frame, like a FG.

Im finally embracing my FG body type. For years i hated it because i felt so boyish and masculine. It made me feel real bad about myself. I would force dresses that really didn't look good on me. Now i realize it gets balanced out with my face especially when i have a bob or a pixie cut.

The more I see gamine, the more cemented I feel in this type. The funniest part is that this was already how I was starting to style myself. 😂
One thing that I found really interesting in this style is that I found adding more boyish things (things that people or maybe myself in the past would consider more boyish clothing) actually work really well at making us just as feminine as the other types but in different ways. It highlights our features... Or at least mine and stays true to our body lines. That mixture of (for give me if I'm using the wrong words for this) feminine and masculine or boyish clothing is a look I think is really pretty and feminine for our type of body, it just works. It feels really satisfying to see that the style I was leaning into naturally is what compliments my body the most.

Actually the outfit with the blue denim sleeveless top is more soft classic (casual). It’s still a bit sophisticated for a soft gamine. The shirt needs a bit of playful trim. It’s too plain for a SG.
Note: For a long time I thought I was a FG, but found out a year ago that I’m a SG. I’ve been experimenting a lot, and learn that SGs need a touch of playful trim. I’ve tried it, and it is so true.

As a soft gamine, this was really interesting! The denim top with midi skirt and the tshirt with midi skirt and oversized jacket is something I wear ALL the time. I don't like the overly feminine/girly looks people tend to recommend for SG... I just prefer more casual and basic outfits like that, so it's been a struggle to dress according to my lines

I'm in my 30's. I've been too thin. I've been fat ( it's ok, I have been legit fat after having children). My average size is a 2 (dress). I have a waspy waist, thinner thighs ( for my race? ), and a rounder 3D butt. This is what I have found. I look horrible in skater dresses... but baebee :) when I have a bit of weight left over postpartum- I'm a vision. hehe. Take all of this with a grain of salt, ladies. As we age, we change. However, our "types" are great reference points.

  • @linibellini

Thanks for this video! I like your videos in general but this one was particularly helpful for me :) I'm preeetty sure that I'm a gamine because I keep thinking that I'm a natural, then a romantic, then a dramatic, then a classic, because I have such a mix of things going on. Some of every type is in there I guess :D I came to your channel thinking I'm probably a flamboyant gamine because I have a very prominent bone structure in my face and I don't have huge eyes that soft gamines often have. But most of your usual FG outfits would make me look a little chubby perhaps because of my wide, fleshy hips so I started wondering.... And seeing these outfits you've put together for SG (which would all look really good on me I think), I'm 80% sure I'm a soft gamine. But I might still reach out to you for a consultation at some point!

  • @BlackbirdLilian
    @BlackbirdLilian 2 года назад +2

man I always thought I was SG because I am a traditional hourglass and have fleshy thighs and arms but I always wondered why - even though I like some SG silhouettes - I always need less lace, more yang elements like firmer fabrics and stuff. Made total sense to me I'm more FG. I'm not super sure if maybe I'm an SD or SN or DC in denial, although I really love many FG recs on me (except the very very straight ones)
I still love Peter Pan collar blouses but combine them with very edgy things like Pleather pants, faux leather skirts, combat boots - you get it haha. I feel like due to my sorta girly essence I can pull of kinda cutesy looks but there needs to be a twist to it for sure!
thanks so so much for the video!

Frani, someone that is 5'1 has to be a gamine due to height? Also, are there one or two bigger characteristics to not mistake SG and FG? I see a lot of masculine in me, but I read a lot of descriptions on SG that I also know about me. Thank you so much!

So can I have you just like zoom call me, and tell me how to dress? 🤣 I’m having so many problems with finding the right lines for me. You’re a slim woman, and some of these soft gamine outfits make you look heavier. I have a sharp, pretty gamine face, very short hair, an intelligent personality, and a slim but very voluptuous body (5’1”, 110 pounds, 34 D). I would say that perhaps I have a more flamboyant gamine face and personality, and a soft gamine body, perhaps even a romantic body. So, I guess I am technically a soft gamine. If I wore any of the soft gamine outfits that you have modeled, however, I’d look like a house! If I wore some of the others, I think that I would have a childish look! I would much rather use simple styles altered to fit my shorter arms and legs, ample hips, and small frame. I can see myself in a feminine blouse with a v-neck and perhaps some pretty work, maybe wearing pretty necklaces.
