Something cool to note is the +5 combat strength also applies to theological combat, meaning apostles and inquisitors are more powerful in your home combat making spreading your religion in the early game much easier, especially if paired with a theocratic government.
It's funny that I was looking for Roosevelt leader spotlight in your channel earlier today and was disappointed he wasn't there. Thanks for the upload!
+5 combat is good in the early game, same with the wildcard slot. Wildcard slots are VERY good for getting great people, and can easily help you fill out your museums and amphitheaters.
Hey, Saxy Gamer...this is a great series. Keep them coming. To anyone that is addicted to Civ VI, this is a fix. Makes playing the game much more strategic and enjoyable. About 10 minutes for each thumbnail description is about right. Good job.
I like your series a lot, but I have to disagree strongly on some points you make. The combatboost makes america insanely powerful in the early eras, where a few points can make a huge difference. When playing on deity and sharing a startinglocal next to america and on the same continent is a militaristic and expanansionist nightmare. The Mustang renders bombers virtually useless against them and you will make other human players think twice of airraiding your tactical and luxury resources.. And amerca has the smoothest transition from domination (early to midgame) to cultural victory (endgame) since you don't have to rely on open borders or traderouts or diplamacy of any kind to force your culture upon other civs. And last but not least: The +50% XP for the Mustang let's them level up astoundingly quick, which you can greatly prophit from offensive and defensive ehen you keep them alive and get to modernize them into the later eras.
Sean Wayne Hey Sean, I just want to correct a few points. Unlike civ 5, year where units’ relative proportional combat strength is what decides combat, civ 6 focusses on the absolutely difference. This means that the +5 difference is equally strong throughout the game, not just at the beginning. Yes the mustang is strong at nullifying bombers, but they come so late that their relative benefit is small. If you were already winning by modern era they won’t make that much easier, and if you’re losing you’ll still lose.
Problem with them most of there kit happens to late in the game but by that point you should be in good shape to win I like kits to help early when you are behind in deity and both there units are so bad
I’m playing for like the first time on my phone and I’m going ham with science. I’m lack luster in everything else but everyone else is still in the classic era and I’m in the renaissance. Gonna train a whole army of cannons and musket men to dominate
They could of added that the bigger the city more citizens means more damage the city will do against enemy units. To simulate that more citizens are armed in the United States than any nation's citizenry on the planet.
Watched this before gathering storm and am going through again. What do you think of teddy's bonuses with the ski resorts now? Do they take away from national parks?
Hi Saxy gamer, I love your videos, I found this channel about a week ago and I’ve watched all of the backlog. Have you ever considered playing Civ with the yogscast and absolutely wrecking them?
I note that these spotlights are obviously geared towards Rise & Fall playthroughs, but I feel that it could've been worth mentioning what the "Founding Fathers" ability does in the vanilla game, just for the sake of comparison (and there are a still a few of us who play without R&F...).
america is like the liu kang of civ recognizable super power easy to pick up and play with on lower difficulties and if you really know how to use him can bust your ass
Nice video. It never occurred to me they needed to change Teddy's bonus after removing the government legacy mechanic. Now I know and it seems to be even weaker than before. Also, why don't you mention stuff, like Potala Palace (+1 diplomatic slot) being particularly good for America?
Thanks! Yeah, he got hurt a little by the change, but hes still at least fairly decent. I didn't include that one just because it can kinda be inferred from the ability that its a good thing to get as many diplomatic slots as possible and didn't want to make the video too long haha
They should have added: -10 strength of any country having oil
Or bananas😂
For the British they could of add a -10 strength to any nation using only spears and bows when they have guns. See I can do that too.
@@02091992able very epic
I think that would be a good ability for another American leader.
It should be "war of liberation" casus belli is made available when the opponent has oil.
Something cool to note is the +5 combat strength also applies to theological combat, meaning apostles and inquisitors are more powerful in your home combat making spreading your religion in the early game much easier, especially if paired with a theocratic government.
Jadwiga is one military slot converted. Not all
It's funny that I was looking for Roosevelt leader spotlight in your channel earlier today and was disappointed he wasn't there. Thanks for the upload!
Well that's convenient haha, no problem!

Agreed, these are excellent videos.

Strange that he didnt reply
Who uses bombers to deliver nukes? It's all about the Nuclear Subs yo!
@@finlaymckeown2891 problem is I never really seen ai ever use planes.

Incidentally, America mostly entered the world stage in the industrial era, so any early game bonuses would have been... surprising.
Great video, would be great to get some updates on these after GS.
Imo america is a S tier civ just because their atomic/industrial theme is just amazing

2000 tourism a turn?! I've never even came that close.
just play on a huge map :D
Lol one time I had like 120 production a turn in a city
Can we take a minute to consider domination on Pangea? A passive +5 seems kinda scary.
There are still other continents on pangea. Which makes the +5 limited.
Holy shit, Teddy was a massive unit until his visuals got reworked! Very nice video though
I think it's good that the Rough Riders cost a little bit more to produce it helps balance out it's benefits
Finally a video where pronunciation is easy as hell.

America is op with crusade or defender of faith. You can get up to +25 combat strength. Victor, dof, dark age policies, and americ's ability.
Good stuff saxy. Personally, I'd like if you did a vid on the base game's culture counterpart to America. The wonder hoarder France.
Great idea; I'd love to see his take on the black queen
Hes probably the best historic example a game like this could use for America.
This vid needs an update after Gathering Storm. Teddy is S tier in diplomacy as well now.
it's great to listen to someone who does speak with an american accent for once in civ videos :))
do you give any civ a rank of D of F?
Great videos! Keep it up. Maybe you should include the leader agendas in future leader videos... or make a separate video with all the agendas
Thanks! I'll likely do a separate video about leader agendas and how to deal with them.
Why is it that I always spawn by a desert when I play America? I mean, I know there's spawn bias, but I don't understand why I always have desert.
Because America loves oil, and invading desert nations? IDK
@@101BlackRaven Explain Vietnam and Korea neither have deserts.
+10 combat strength v.s. Cities that could build Panama Canal
then China can buy any canal tile from America at half price.
I had to check my playback speed was on 1x a few times.... just couldn't believe i wasn't sped up
All aircraft is op in civ vi because the ai never uses aircraft, at least for me, except barbarian helicopters.
Helicopters are not air units, they're calavlry.

I intended to mention the old effect but totally forgot about it when I actually went to make the video, sorry about that.
I have teddy and they tried to jump me in my city but couldn’t breach in and gave up lol

Please do Rome.
As someone who almost plays Rome exclusively, I share your dream.
i found fighters are better than bombers vs land units

Need to update with the huge diplomacy point boost
They didn’t make America as op as they did in Civ rev!! Lol.
i find america is really easy to steam roll in the late game
Doesn't the film studio give the +100% tourism boost JUST in the modern era and not after it?
SirDome nope
Nope, it gives the boost from when a Civ reaches the modern era and continues onward.
SirDome Are you implying American movies became much worse after the modern era?
Asceron Gaming no it just sounds like that in the description of Teddy
Film nr 5+ in a series is usually a masterpiece yes..
Time to storm San Juan.
Nothing in the kit is good till the game is 80% over
America should be reworked to have more coherent bonuses, the film studio is good but very boring to play with, overall america is a boring civ
