So compost is OK mixed with soil? I thought the avo roots don't like being wet and compost will retain moisture. Also, you do plan to remove the enclosure as the plant grows? Thx
So from my understanding yes you are right that compost does retain moisture, but at the same time it provides more pore spaces so increases drainage. I would not worry about moisture and avocado trees, just don't let them sit in water. Yes I was recently thinking I might bring in more soil when the tree is older so the roots can extend further and the tree can reach it's full potential. Probably not for a few yrs from now though.
Yep. I did put mulch on the top but it already decomposed. I really should get some more too. I also throw some manure on the top infrequently@@gcc2313
Hi. I chose the Lamb Hass because it is a late season variety and I have a Hass on the other side of the yard cuz it is an early season. Also the Lamb is more heat tolerant which is good for the Brisbane summers. Lamb Hass also bears fruit behind the foliage and this helps protect it from elements or pests. It is easily my favorite variety although i only have 3.
Man i love those containers.
Hey mate any chance u can link me where you got your shade cloth from im in Australia too
Hi Jordan. I just got it from Bunnings. I really is helpful for young Avo and Lychee trees. I paid around $25.
Super

@@TheCyberGardener Thanks for the info!
You can top dress with the compost instead and then some mulch. Its probably better because they have alot of surface feeder roots.

Why did you choose the Lamb Hass advocado instead of another variety??? Is this an early, mid or late season advocado??
