By far the best explanation I've seen, and I've been confused a bunch!lol. This is my 1st turbo build, I went and bought a vacuum block and was going to plumb it that way...but then reading further into instructions, rather than listening to what people say, I found I need positive pressure to go to Mac valve off the turbo, not a vacuum block... still confused, just not as bad!lol Doing a 99 Camaro SS
Does my pressure source have to come from the turbo housing? My turbo currently does not have a port, nor one pre tapped that needs to be drilled out. So I’m wondering if I need to make a hole and tap it to be able to use my boost controller
When you start the engine does the Mac valve start pulsing? Mine only pulsates when I give full throttle while idling ... I connected it just like you did
If I'm going with dual wastegate, do I need a 2nd boost controller? I don't see alot of videos on it here. It's single turbo with artec dual wastegate manifold.
Really sweet job u done! Curious size of garage I built one few yrs back n I like how tall urs is (18’ tall?) I’m trying find a property like urs! What state Florida? Great information n masterpiece 👍🏼
Hi man , thanks for the vedio it's help alot. I have a question about turbocharger. Have you used ebay turbo especially those made in China 🇨🇳, like to know your opinion about. I'm looking to do single turbo and maximum pressure I'm looking for is 21 psi.
Show s video of it operating. I'm looking at the diagram that you're showing and to me it looks like if you apply 10 pounds on top as well as 10 on bottom that cancels itself out. Theoretically you'll have 10 pounds with a 10 lb sping. Or less.
@@fox-body no, you have 10psi on the dome and 10psi under the dome... essentially zero. That's the same thing as pulling all the reference lines off the wastegate and just letting the spring do it all, usually a bit more than double what the fully referenced pressure would be. (IE: 10psi is the least it will make and 22psi is the most it will make) Now, if you plumb the exhaust on the MAC valve to to dome with a bleed hole drilled into the fitting (.040") you will then be removing boost reference from the bottom and then adding it to the top. Put in your 1.5psi spring and make 4psi down low and 30 psi up top if you want. Want less up top? Drill the bleed hole bigger. Same as a 4 port MAC set up but with a bit better resolution.
The spring pressure rating on the spring is a fully referenced #. As in, you have a line hooked up to the bottom of the gate diaphram. No line reference is the max the spring can give you. With the green 14lb spring I had I would get 9psi referenced and 20psi non referenced. So... kinda out to lunch. Every turbo system is dynamic and will give you different boost set points on the same spring.

Simple but great informative video!
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for the video, informative and helpful 👍🏽
Love to see your set up
How would you plumb it with a dual wastegate set up
Nice build 👌 yeah ended up using some stainless quick disconnects for the gate...the plastic ones didn't last for me.
I would love a link to the kit you found on eBay!

Probably any where along the charge pipe would be fine.
Where you connet the wiring thx
To the ecu.
Does it matter whether Port one or 2 go to the top port on the wastegate?
2 goes to the top of the gate. Maybe you could switch them I haven’t tried.
When you start the engine does the Mac valve start pulsing? Mine only pulsates when I give full throttle while idling ...
I connected it just like you did
What do you have it wired to? The ecu or external boost controller tells it when to pulse based of map pressure.

No just one. Plumb it to both gates
@fox-body so just T it to the 2nd wastegate the same? Is the 3port working good on low and high boost your your setup?
Yes just run a T. Depends on the spring your using. You can usually double the boost of what ever spring you use.
Really sweet job u done!

The building is 24x40. Yes I’m in central Florida.

I have not used them
So you gain minimal boost by doing this?
Frequency ?
32 hz.
Hey man are you around I'm having slight issue with my set up and could totally use your help lol
How about if you don’t have a compresor fitting on the turbo does engine vacuum work the same ?
It will work but it’s best closer to the turbo. I would Get a fitting and tap and install a port on the turbo housing.
Are you using emu black?
Yes
@@fox-body are you tuning it yourself?

Don’t forget the spring pressure. 10 pounds to the top of the gate + 10 pound spring. 20 pounds of boost.
