Around 1995 my dad bought a chinese pirate cartridge along with a second hand SNES for 5 year old me on the Manaus free trade zone that had 8 games and this was one of them, along with Choplifter III, Puzzle Bobble, Goof Troop, Super Mario World, Top Gear, Ms. Pac-Man and Super Pang. Funny to think I was playing a unreleased prototype game back in those days. Had lots of fun with the cartridge. This was by far the worst of the games avaliable and I never managed to finish it.
This is a total Turrican ripp-off :D Only the character and music is different and even that is worse than original. And i forgot the drops from the ceiling :D That's new there too
*Not* a ripoff. It was developed as Turrican II until they changed the name very late on, when the movie came out. It's the same as the official release of Universal Soldier on the Mega Drive. Apparently they thought North American gamers would be more likely to buy a game linked to the film, as they weren't familiar with the Turrican games. It's fantastic on the Mega Drive. It's just a moderately changed Turrican II. I love the Game Boy version too. This is the definition of "Hidden Gem". Other games whose titles were changed (and so many people don't even know exist) are Streets Of Rage 4 on the PS1, and Mad Max on the Mega Drive and SNES.
Rip off or not, the finely polished levels of Turrican 2 shine through when clagged together with the terrible sprites and level design of the levels made for this game. Facing off against marines, which appear to just be a duplicate of the man character, suddenly gave way in the next level to bionic walkers and mechanized dragon heads that hurl firebolts at you. Levels have been removed entirely, parts have been changed for the worse, and the missing World 3 flying section was great. Such a shame. This is the definition of a "Hack Job". That stainless-steel clad warrior of Rainbow Arts would be spinning in his grave more than his gyroscopic form ever would. As a kid, I completed this game and the first one hundreds of times, to the point where I could complete the game without dying: based on the plethora of insta-kills you ended up facing in the alien themed level, that was quite an achievement for me back in 1991.
Yeah, it's quite an oddball. A mix between Turrican II and the movie Universal Soldier with some exclusive levels thrown in. What about that? :D But, as the title implies, this SNES version stayed unreleased unlike the Mega Drive version and that's a good thing cuz the Mega Drive version is much better. Better resolution, better music and better sound FX. Still, the Amiga original remains the best version for this game.
It's so sad they butchered a classic like Turrican 2. At least they made up for it with Super Turrrican on SNES which is outstanding. Awesome Trouble Shooter profile pic by the way!
It was supposed to be a straightforward port of Turrican II. Sometime after WCES '92 they decided to slap a movie license on it and added the extra stages.
I used to play this abomination once in a while as a kid. this is seriously one of the worst and most boring games I have ever played. it's bad in every aspect, in too many levels. and every stage is the same. congratulations for having the patience to play it to the end.

level passwords ? seriously ? if i were to search good points for this game i'd notice there's some background graphics... and that's all i can see for the good points, i guess i'd have to play it myself to feel this game's greatness.
The port itself is already terrible, but I am still absolutely baffled, what they did to the music. The amiga version of Turrican 2 has one of the (if not THE) best computer / video game soundtrack of all time. And Code Monkeys destroyed it with one of the worst instrumentation I have ever heard. I really don't understand this: How could anyone hear this dreadful conversion and thought "Yeah... it's o.k.. It's good. It's like the amiga version." Please, how in gods name was this possible? It sounds downright abysmal, like playing John Williams Star Wars or J.S. Bach Toccata and Fugue with a bad tuned xylophone. And yes, I know: This port was never in stores - but the horrible Mega Drive/Genesis version was.
For my favorite game ever on the Amiga, Turrican 2, and on a console where it was more than capable of producing some decent sound, the Super Nintendo, why is the sound and music butchered so badly? This is what happens when a gem is handed over to a company that clearly didn't give a shit and wanted to cash in on a movie noone even talks about anymore. Not to mention it was clearly lazy to take a complete game and slap Universal Soldier on it, with some minor added changes and level additions.
+Psychopathetica Also this was on the front cover of GamePro in August 1992. When I saw it back then, I knew it was Turrican 2, but never would I've known it was never released.

This game has NOTHING to do with the respectable movie, and it looks more like Future Soldier (with Kurt Russel) ;D ...and what's with that Metroid-like spinball/superball transformation!? LMFAO!
I had this game. Dunno why but turning into a "spiky ball" or whatever it's called made me invulnerable to any damage, turning the game into a breeze. Also this was the worst game I ever had lol, complete crap
Played the Megadrive version and this is exactly how you destroy two licenses with one game. Combine Universal Soldier with Turrican 2 and voila - crap! It's also very obvious which levels are from Turrican 2 and which they just mashed together overnight with little to no thought or creativity. Absolutely abysmal!

I used to love that bouncing bullet gun. So nostagic
And the intro music... oh man
This is what happens when you take Turrican and subtract Rainbow Arts
The game more hard of snes !
Salve Brasileiros !

Turrican, was a great game. Good money making scheme here, simply switching the sprite for another licenced character.

This game was released on the Genesis.
So how come this game never got released?
That first boss...I swear, it looks like turds were falling from the ceiling :P
The Sound effects are annoying, the graphics are obviously ripped from Turrican, and the collision detection is beyond terrible.

Funnily enough, this rundown on Turrican and Universal Soldier was released a few hours ago: Turrican Review/Series Retrospective - Kimble Justice

when i was very young i pass many times this game without lossing a life.... my childhooh :' )
and, where's the level timer ?
This is a sin to its original source.
Un turrican de serie B ?????
serie Z
It's incredible how they managed to ruin Turrican II's music and SFX so badly.
music name 80min
Absolutely nothing to do with Universal Soldier.
Soooooooo.....this is LUKE DEVARUEAX ??? Where is Sarge a.k.a Dolphgren ??? Where the other unisols . None none......NONE!!!!
Turrican inspired???? IT IS TURRICAN
It was supposed to be a straightforward port of Turrican II. Sometime after WCES '92 they decided to slap a movie license on it and added the extra stages.
Never ended this game
To be the copy of Turrican does not mean to be a good game and the music copy from the movie Halloween 1978
If I didn't know any better, I'd say this suspiciously smells of Metroid inspired, at the least.
But I know better.
Letters of top gear
The company took this from turrican in the movie they don't roll like spiky balls and they don't shoot big blasters
I don't want to play this game in vol. 100 the sound and effects are so high
I've seen this engine before, it was a robot dude, can't recall the name of the game.
Turrican 2. In fact, Universal Soldier is essentially a dolled up version of Turrican 2.
Played in a 8 in 1 bootleg cart
Bomber Car
Choplifter III
Goof Troop
Pit Fighter
Super Mario World
Top Racer
Universal Soldier
This game looked like it was a clone of Turrican.
It's not a clone. Accolade just reskinned Turrican 2 into a Universal Soldier game.
