Wow man that is a huge compliment coming from you. I used to watch and learn from your videos back when I first started and beyond!! Thank you for the recognition 🙏🙏🙂
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu No way, I was just thinking about leaving a comment that you 2 collaborate, surprise, Mr Dean shows up. But, when are you 2 collaborate in a video, that'd be sick.⛔🚫
In my opinion you are one of the best teachers on RUclips. I'm a white belt and I have been training 6 days a week for the past few months and your videos have helped my rolling
That was a great roll, and I never try anything fancy. I’m not super mobile, and I just work on the five moves I like, and I try to make them work every time, abs if they don’t that’s ok too. I luv Jiujitsu, and I have the best time win or loose. Thanks for another great video.
Great video and commentary! As a 53 yo purple belt stuck in a rut, this kind of commentary with high level technique is awesome. Keep up the good work.
This was so cool. You guys are really good! I wish you were out in BC. Training under you would be so awesome. Our gym closed down after covid. So brutal. Going to have to commute to train now
Wow! you are very informative, It's very interesting. I really did learn something. It's been about 15 years since I rolled, my partner always beat me, Evie, I didn't mind loosing.
Great roll!! should be interesting to see in the future with the same brown belt but in the gi... Alex have a huge tank !! I will be done with my cardio after a few minutes hahhaa... great video.
I've found my favourite place to finish from is after a snap down, my chest on their back kinda thing not sure what that's called. But I've been working on neckties and a kinda modified guillotine and it seems to be my best way to deal with much stronger and heavier partners
My favorite submission as of right now is a triangle choke arm at combination. If you can complete a flying triangle and transfer to an arm at combination, style points have been earned lol.
I can't believe that with enough time and practice I will be able to roll this way one day (potentially😀). For now it all feels disconnected and clunky. Loving the style of your videos!
Still white belt so favorite technique is surviving! Fav attack Americana. That said lately the guillotine seems to fall in place, but can only finish it with new people. That said I got it set up on a a purple belt, and he said that it was really good but I gave up on it to quickly. So a little hope there.
Love that arm trap from the back off of the opponents post. Was working that before I went out with the coof for a few weeks, came back and went right back to it tonight and was able to finally pull it off successfully and get the choke. Big moment for me since I'm the whitest of the white belts lol. Of course this was all before I completely gassed in 3 mins and reverted back to guard lol
I honestly only have mediocre stamina. Alex has an insane gas tank though. I just roll a lot but if i wanted to increase it I would do some slow and steady runs and intervals.
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu got it. In that instance do you still use the philosophy position (control) before submission. Or, is it more effective to go straight for the heel hook? I am a blue belt, but I am very detailed oriented, so I apologize in advance for the multitude of questions. Thank you for this content its nice too see live use of techniques especially gains high level partners.
Because of your videos, I've started working on controlling grips. Even as a one-stripe white belt, none of the other white belts have managed to put me into dangerous positions within the last week because of it. Seriously, THANK YOU!
Amazing! i love the notes and that you share your thought process during a roll, this is by far the best rolling breakdown (i mean all of your breakdowns are!) 👊

I can attest to Alex being a machine. There is no stop in this guy and he is extremely technical. Awesome video and I really enjoyed the breakdown and commentary
This is awesome. Question: How much of this are you actively thinking of in the moment, and how much of it is muscle memory/doing things automatically because you've drilled it so often?
Almost entirely muscle memory. Especially when I roll more reactionary. But guard passing for example is more active than reactive so I'll have to think more.
I can attest to Alex's beastliness on the mats as well. He's an absolute monster; strong as heck, talented and has a huge gas tank! That Kimura trap was awesome! Watched that over and over. Excellent video, Jordan.
Really solid video, what are your thoughts on Andrew Wiltse's approach to submitting from the back? He also falls towards the underhook side, and baits the armbar to finish the choke after trapping the arm. He has an interesting breakdown on a video called "the wiltse choke". Love your content man!
I like the cross hook bite while in back control (bottom hook goes through the legs, top hook crosses feet if possible..but clamping that knee on the top hip is vital). Once you hip in, you either control their posture, or they go face down. Either way, it’s a high probability of finishing from those positions.
Your content is unmatched man. So informative, so beautifully done and it shows. 2 months in to bjj, 4/5 days week, no gi. Just trying to absorb, apply and get better every day. Keep em comin! 👊🏼

Hey. Thanks for the video’s. Do you have any pointers on what to do and don’t while spinning out of leg locks?
Ya don't spin if your hips and ankle are isolated. Meaning they can't move. Gotta time it I for when they're adjusting or taking their grip.

Arm triangles are super hard tbh. Idk if my shoulder is not choking them properly or if their arm is on their throat

Technique will always beat strength. Great video professor!! Oh yea, hygiene hygiene hygiene!!!!

With the single leg x Alex had on you, is there a reason why he dindn't control the leg with overhook and keep working the single leg x sweep.
To me it looks like he was looking for heal exposure to work a heal hook rather then work single leg X
