Knowing how far to extend the style you are learning to its full capacity, and that could be any style, as in practice one thing a thousand times, though to know full capacity usually needs a good teacher,, light people would for instance need to use all there body weight for some tasks or just the snap motion in specific areas,, all said and done though in real life every moment is less predictable against professional developers,, and even if you are not a developer of any defence training you have the right to be lucky.. So keep your eyes on the road and everything else will follow, 🌛💨🐢💨🕊️💨🐝💨

The problem is that the existence of Yim Wing Chun and Ng Mui are unproven and many historians now believe they were just allegories or figments of legend created to give the art an interesting back story. There are just as many who say that wing chun developed on a the Red Boat Opera group, or that wing chun is an offshoot of a style of white crane.
Therefore one could argue that there is no yin nor yang in a wing chun stance. It is not gender specific. The toed in stance in Hong Kong style wing chun is about being rooted in the stance or as we say in more modern style of martial arts: to provide base. It also, presumably, allows better shifting.

Any male practices toes know how retarded and uncomfortable it is. As for woman its far more natural and comfortable .

Well, these Tu Tengyao videos are highly choreographed so it's really difficult to ascertain how effective he really is. It's like asking how good Jet Li would be in a real fight. It's easy to look good when you choreograph something and use camera tricks like undercranking which these Tu Tengyao videos do far too much to the point that I laugh most of the time watching them.
It's hard to say how good or legitimate Tu Tengyao is at wing chun. To be honest, I would rather look to Hong Kong for traditional chuan fa (kung fu) than China. Mao pretty much disbanded traditional martial arts - in fear of people rebelling - during the cultural revolution and put sport wushu in its place. In many ways, traditional kung fu died in Mainland China but was preserved in Hong Kong under British rule where many fled the Mainland to escaping the communist authoritarian rule.
In fact, the reason why sanshou/sanda exists today was because kung fu was so bad and an embarrassment in China - getting beat by muay Thai, and karate fighters - that they created sanda in the 80's and 90's and, really, sanda borrows from other martial arts like kickboxing, muay Thai, and judo.
I'm not calling out Tu Tenyao's wing chun but it does not look like it is of the Ip Man lineage. If you look at the late Wong Shun Leung then you'll see classic wing chun where he snaps his punch and is very economical in his movements. Same with watching the late Hawkins Cheung. Tu Tengyao, on the other hand, looks like he learned it from Yuen Woo Ping (this is a joke by the way. You'll have to look up Yuen Woo Ping).

Where is this win chun in MMA?

    • @assoverteakettle
      @assoverteakettle Год назад

As I always say: if you want to beat an MMA fighter then learn MMA.
On the other hand, if you want to be good at wing chun, then take wing chun. There's nothing wrong with taking wing chun (or any other art be it karate, taekwondo, aikido) as long as you enjoy it, and know its contexts and limitations.
Now, many people say that MMA is just a sport with rules and there are no rules on the street. But I disagree with anyone who says that for a number of reasons...
      1. MMA is still the closest, legal, and relatively safe means of practicing martial arts in all the ranges: kicking, punching, clinching, throwing, ground that is close to real no-holds-barred fighting. More importantly it does this against a resisting opponent and regular sparring.
      2. Wing chun people often cite that MMA and gloved fighting is not fair because they can't use their biu jee but I say any martial art that requires one technique (eye poking) really isn't much of a martial art. Also it doesn't take skill to poke someone in the eye. These "accidental" eye pokes happen all the time in MMA. Furthermore, Tu Tengyao seems to punish his students using only a straight punch so there is nothing stopping him or any other wing chun fighter to step into the ring or octagon. The reality is that wing chun people have attempted to do MMA and they never win. The wing chun people protest, "Those are not good wing chun people" but then those not-so-good wing chun people are fighting not-so-good MMA people or not-so-good muay Thai fighters and losing so what does that say? As Lawrence Kenshin says on his channel, the effectiveness of a martial art is reflected in the success of its students. So then what does that mean when an amateur wing chun guy constantly loses against an amateur MMA fighter? Hmmm.
      3. It's not just technique but strength, size, and athleticism that helps in a real fight. Do wing chun people spend as much time strength training, and conditioning? On average NO. Now compare this to the immense amount of strength training and conditioning done by MMA fighters, or even muay Thai fighters. Why do they train this hard? The answer is because the reality is that being able to block every punch - like in these Tu TengYao videos - is a fantasy. You will get hit in a real fight, some punches will slip through and you won't catch them all, and you have to have the strength and conditioning to absorb punches, and also not get tired or winded.
      4. Realistic training is required to be a good fighter. You need to spar. You can't just learn how to fight doing drills. Connecting with a moving opponent is much harder than most people think. You can look like an expert doing drills, or chi sao, or hitting bags or pads but look like a fool trying to hit an opponent who has really good footwork. It's like chasing a fly. Taking hits is another thing you have to learn. No, you don't need to go full out for a KO but you do need to spar with at least a bit of contact so that you will learn how to take a punch. If you do not know how to deal with getting hit then you will fold and go into shock the very first time in a ring, or on the street, if you get hit in the face even if it's not a knockout punch.

This style (wing chun) in boxing would get destroyed in a boxing ring under boxing rules, and it would get destroyed in a street if the trained boxer knows dirty boxing combined with the style of 52 block. Its my honest opinion.
The only chance wing chun has is using kicks, and the boxer isn't a very good fighter.. the sweet science of boxing is unmatched hand, it's body maneuvering is unmatched, and everything in wing chun looks good until you are the one being hit. Your head doesn't move and boxer watch the shoulders and they know that your head isn't going to move.
The combination of body shots to setup the head is perfect. You can dodge a punch but you can't dodge a setup of punches after you have been hit.

Forgive me but there are some flaws I picked up. The students second not in use is lazy, he hasnt learnt to be instinct and use both hands at once.. , ready for any defensive on instinct that twill come to protect you. It should be central to the body, fingers in an upright postion and using good structure, ready to strike and defend in a spit second and move quickly to the next move. It should not be flopping down the side, limp and totally forgotten about. using the centre line for straight punches, both hands need to control that space. If a hand is not in use it should be central in that position at all times. The sparing is not benefiting you. you need to practice at a level of power and speed of someone that is going to test you. Not simply applying the moves in a controlled predictable way. One of the points to win chun is its abilitly to be fast moving to unpredictability. Sparring needs to be totally random movements by each opponent, using light body armor. Try winchun sparring and go up against different proficient fighters to see where the style and your weakness are. Win chun taught today is missing many moves, its missing sweeps, lower kicks, going to ground, many different types of foot work, throws, locks and traps, gripping, and elements of judo footwork sweeping balance in movement and, theory. The feminine aspect is totally lost in todays winchun the way its taught,. Its not designed as an aggressive style, hence the reason why its ass gets handed to it going up against an aggressive yang Kick boxing. Its relaxed, flowing, fluid, fast, effortless, meditative, feeling the chi, without expelling much of your own power.

Stick to playing your guitar you may know little bit more about that subject then this one. I Was a student of Sifu Kem Hearns, from beaverton oregon since 1995 until his passing in 2015 great man great teacher and a great friend. If he didn't slow down you wouldnt see him hit you only feel it only thing i will say now is That he has probably been doing wing chun since he was old enough his technique is spot on to true wing chun btw you know there is only a handful of documented Sifu's. 9 out of 10 teach incorrect wing chun, dont put people down for you're false information, i dont see you're name on the list of Sifu's that are registered to teach true wing chun he is.
