I think that Kino Lorber has the best sales. I placed one big order right away and 2 smaller orders since. The 2 smaller ones just shipped. I can't wait but all of these sales (criterion, Severin, Warner Brothers, etc.) are killing my wallet.
I can't believe you got your Kino Lorber order 2 days after you ordered it. I put in my order the same day as you and mine won't be delivered till Saturday 25th. There were many others I was going to order but they were listed "temporarily out of stock". I'll include them in my soon to be sent second order whether they are back in stock or not. Great time to expand my ever growing collection of Kino Lorber blu-rays. Like you I have just over a hundred of their features so far.
I ordered as soon as the sale went live so that may have helped me. I believe I had ordered before I even publicized the sale. Glad stuff is already coming back in stock!
Truck Turner is awesome so daft in a good way - the random things that happen in it, like the random topless women running. Its almost the prequel to Black Dynamite. I had it on VHS then upgraded to the DVD many years ago.
So many great grabs in there! I only went in for 6 this time, I behaved myself! At least for now. Because it wasn’t until watching this that I realized I forgot to add Truck Turner!! I think this constitutes a second order. But I can’t just get one, right? And I think that his ultimate legacy in mainstream pop culture will be Chef, BUT I don’t think it’s a bad thing. Chef was a fantastic staple of South Park and with everyone’s career at our fingertips, it will allow for more into his history of an (amazing) musician and his own staple films, due to how much Chef was adored. I say “was” only because he was written out so many years ago and I don’t think that people go back to old South Park unless they remember those episodes from back in the day. To be honest, I’m probably 6-7 seasons behind on the show.
I have the 88Films which I would recommend, probably the same extras as the KL plus including the full screen version which looks and feels a lot better than the widescreen one that may be the only one on KL.
On the Isaac Hayes thing, I honestly believe the people that would only remember him as Chef probably wouldn’t remember him at all without Chef. I used to feel the same way as you about the reality show The Osbornes. The argument I got back was all of his albums went gold again when that show was on. So people that watched did go discover his music. I hope some fans of Chef do go back and discover his really great film and music history. Fortunately for me, I learned about him via Escape from New York!
That's a fair point. In retrospect, I think maybe my thoughts are pointed more toward South Park's core audience than on the legacy of Isaac Hayes. They constantly tear things down on that show, but Isaac Hayes accomplished (and built) so much.
@@CerealAtMidnight Agree with both of those points. Also, South Park is most notable in how it is able to so rapidly comment on sociopolitical issues as they are happening. The negative of that to me is that the show doesn't hold up over time. Hayes' career before the show however, especually in music, is evergreen. South Park has already settled back into the shadows of pop culture compared to where it once was. Twenty years from now I believe it'll be virtually gone (I pretty much feel the same about the Shrek movies unless they make more) while Hayes' music will still be loved and his movies collected.
Just went through the sale. Arrghh....so much. I thought I would get something from the Criterion sale but I think Kino is going to win this one. Feeling tapped after the Severin sale. I also ordered a few things from the Full Moon sale. I have no idea when those orders are going to show up.
I feel your pain on this one. Over 500 titles in this sale! Having supported the Severin sale too, it's nice to place an order from Kino and have my order a few days later. Of course, at this point, Kino may be out of stock on a lot of things, but who knows when that Severin order will ship? Full Moon takes a long time too. I'll say this: Kino has GREAT distribution. Kino, Dark Force, and Ronin Flix can usually get stuff turned around in two or three days.
Teasle: Are you telling me that 200 of our men against your boy is a no-win situation for us? Trautman: You send that many, don't forget one thing. Teasle: What? Trautman: A good supply of body bags.
I ordered the following blu-rays: 1) Death Ship 2) Kingdom of the Spiders 3) Nightmare Beach 4) Pretty Smart 5) Cherry 2000 6) Truck Turner Free shipping too. Woo hoo!
The Bronson movie is great, sometimes I wish he'd stayed in European films because I tend to find them overall more interesting than the stuff he went back home to make, of course maybe then we'd not have had his US star making work with Michael Winner had he not returned. It's indicated a bit in the commentary by one of the speakers, how these movies may offer more interesting character work (as well as unfamiliar scenery) than the later US action and western ones.
"Good, double the pride, double the fall" "you have hate, but you don't use it" "it is obvious that we can not settle this conflict with our knowledge of the force, but by our skills with a lightsaber" all Count Doku :) prequel kid
I’m barely 30 years old but still I will remember Issac Hayes for the Shaft theme mostly. I love that era of film and music. I also do not like South Park one bit so that’s news to me. I did not know he voiced a character in the show.
Right on! I did get a message overnight from someone saying that they didn't know that the voice of Chef on South Park had a career outside of that, so my concern is at least somewhat valid, but I'm encouraged by how many people know Hayes' work.
Nice haul. I've got most of those already and some others are in my current order. It's always hard to pass on a Kino sale. I threw down for 15 titles this time around. Very excited for the upcoming Audie Murphy set from Kino.
Always had a crush on Tricia LF so I adore Pretty Smart from way back in the '80s, even though it's one of the dumbest scripted movies ever made it's so terrible it's actually irresistible.
Some nice stuff there. I wish I could do this sale, but I have a big enough bill coming from the Criterion sale and I feel like I just paid the bill on the last Kino sale. Anyway, my favorite Troutman line is "God didn't make John Rambo. I did."
So, after a couple days, I broke my own financial prudence and placed a $50+ (to get free shipping) with Kino including the BDs of the Kolchak and OSS movies.
They're one of the best, and I appreciate that they aren't constantly re-releasing the same super-popular movies over and over again (like some companies), in alternate steelbook packaging or with new encodes. They just keep digging deeper into the vaults and putting out things we've never had on Blu-ray before. Movies for folks who love movies.
Good stuff. I've been wanting to upgrade my copy of Hercules in the Haunted World. I watched Bava's 5 Dolls For An August Moon last night via the old Anchor Bay DVD and while the presentation is decent it's unfortunately one that does not fare well on a hi-def screen. Which is wild given that back in 2007 the disc was praised as a revelation for the details it revealed.
I did watch it! I feel like it got covered in a Kino Lorber video at some point, but I can't find which one. If it were to surface again, it will be in a video about ninjas and the '80s. I've had that video on the backburner for a while and I'll get to it at some point, because ninjas and the '80s go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Just a matter of carving out the time!
Ebay, made an offer for 35 dollars. I feel like that was a suitable price for me, but your ideal price might be different. It was new as well. Good luck.
Already own nightmare beach. It's not worth it unless you pay $50 and get the free shipping or at least order 2 items. I was going to buy one movie but by the time you pay the $8 for shipping. it's really not a good deal. If you buy one item it should be 3, $4, shipping $5 tops.
That's a fair point, but with discounts so low, it benefits both the customer and the company to hit that $50 free shipping threshold. Everyone goes big in these sales because the prices are so low. You can get 5 movies for what it normally costs to get 2. And they ship UPS, which is nice, especially if you get it shipped free.
Im glad you put me on to kino Lorber I’m still watching my first order and love when there’s reverse covers
The Deals!!!!! Always looking for a good deal for sure! Fun video
Nightmare Beach artwork looks sick. As always nice haul.
Congrats on the awesome haul. Thanks once again Heath for the great video. I really appreciate the hard work. Keep it up!
Charles Bronson was in tremendous shape in Cold Sweat. His arms were incredible. Muscles popping out!
Great movie, though I prefer the reverse KL cover.
I think that Kino Lorber has the best sales. I placed one big order right away and 2 smaller orders since. The 2 smaller ones just shipped. I can't wait but all of these sales (criterion, Severin, Warner Brothers, etc.) are killing my wallet.
All the sales definitely hit at once. I've got a Warner Archive sale haul to film soon, too.
I can't believe you got your Kino Lorber order 2 days after you ordered it. I put in my order the same day as you and mine won't be delivered till Saturday 25th. UPDATE.....All the "temporarily out of stock" items were back in. So I put in another order for 10 more blu-rays.
I ordered as soon as the sale went live so that may have helped me. I believe I had ordered before I even publicized the sale. Glad stuff is already coming back in stock!
Love Truck Turner. We clocked it once and it takes 31 minutes before a plot shows up. Wonderful!

Jill Ireland and Charles Bronson were married. They also co-starred in many movies together.
this video is awsome & cool
First thing I think of when I see Isaac Hayes is The Duke of New York he’s A number 1.
You better get alot of body bags!!
I actually got in on this sale yesterday picking up Death on the Nile and yes, Hercules in the Haunted World.
Just went through the sale. Arrghh....so much. I thought I would get something from the Criterion sale but I think Kino is going to win this one. Feeling tapped after the Severin sale. I also ordered a few things from the Full Moon sale. I have no idea when those orders are going to show up.

I ordered the following blu-rays:
1) Death Ship
2) Kingdom of the Spiders
3) Nightmare Beach
4) Pretty Smart
5) Cherry 2000
6) Truck Turner
Free shipping too. Woo hoo!
Great haul!! I just ordered: 100 Rifles, Rush, Nightmare Beach, Trouble Man & Star Slammer.
Trouble Man is great. It's like Shaft if Shaft wasn't a hot head jackass. Mr. T is one cool chill mother...until he doesn't need to be...
@@daveandreahoward8203 Agreed! It'll be an upgrade for my full screen DVD from the Soul Cinema series.
I just preordered "The Quest" and "Date with an Angel" from Kino Lorber. I have been looking for the Quest for years.

Who else works "George Jetson" style over night jobs and actually watches these videos at Midnight? Or later? 2am right now
Anybody know how long does the sale's gonna last?
Heath said August 3rd

if you love wrestling movies check out Body Slam with Dirk Benedict and Roddy Pipper, Available on a warner archive release.
Nice haul. I've got most of those already and some others are in my current order. It's always hard to pass on a Kino sale. I threw down for 15 titles this time around. Very excited for the upcoming Audie Murphy set from Kino.
Audie Murphy, Tony Curtis, and Carole Lombard box sets releasing on the same day! Golden age, you guys. Golden age for this stuff.
No "Oscar!"
Great choices, Heath. I look forward to receiving mine too...
Oscar may be in the next order, along with Deep Rising and about ten more!
Always had a crush on Tricia LF so I adore Pretty Smart from way back in the '80s, even though it's one of the dumbest scripted movies ever made it's so terrible it's actually irresistible.

Death ship was oop but I believe it was re-released in 2018.
Dude, I finally got a good price on Savage Streets by Code Red on Blu-ray.
Where? How? I need that one too

I caught the Code Red BD on Diabolik very recently for $27. I see that it's back out of stock now though.
They need to do rhinestone blu ray with Sylvester Stallone

Wonder if kino lorber has a european sale. Importing from US gets expensive with toll fees and VAT.
Nice titkes!👍
Kino isn't licensed for anywhere other than North America. 101 Films, 88 Films, even Indicator have released a lot of those movies in Region B.
