Yes sir. Tapping loosens the grounds from the side of the cup so they float down eventually. Cold water sinks in warm water, pulling the ground down to the bottom faster
I made coffee every morning that exact same way except the tapping. Give it five minutes and the grounds will settle. Funny part is I’m using the same Stanley cook pot also.
The last time I was in jail we got to have an electric percolator (without metal parts). This is what we did, but used a little cold water sprinkled on top of the hot coffee to take the grounds to the bottom. Really good during a game of Spades.😅
I can tell you this is one the best ways to make coffee. In all other methods, water is forced through coffee, and its so quick that powder doesnt get enough time to open up. This method allows powder to get wet, open up and loose all the flavour to warm water.
Yes, this method, pour over, French Press are all my favorite ways to make coffee. No paper filters, no electronic machine. Oh, I'm starting to get interested in trying out, testing a percolator.
he did it correctly...Lots make the mistake of adding the coffee straight into Boiling water....you add it before its hot. believe it or not burnt coffee is a thing
In one of my favorite films Hildago there's a scene where the Sheik is talking to the Cowboy about how most foreigners find their coffee too strong. Frank Hopkins drinks it straight and says "Where I'm from we throw a horseshoe in the pot. If it stands up that means coffee is ready" 😂
It's as simple as that, tap the pot, shock the grounds and you're good to go. Never really been a fan of adding cold water! Thanks for your comment Laurie, you're awesome 👍
Just a friendly reminder, being in the woods enhances the flavor and effect by at least double, sometimes tripple! This is the real way to make coffee in my mind. Even though I am currently letting my "coffee maker" do the work. Nothing beats cowboy coffee. Its boiled beans, people. Thats all coffee is!
Nice but I think I'll keep a piece of non used panty hose. When my brew filter acts stupid and breaks. I like the cowboy too but the NYC seventies before my mom got the coffee maker and perculator.there was Sanka instant and coffee international with a little hot chocolate. Especially on snowy , blizzard and cold days. That the reason of the importance of having a gas stove before the new Mayor wants to freeze people out.
You made coffee like this in your military service . It is the simplest way to make it: just a kettle, coffee powder, water and heat. No parts a la percolator needed. Didn't know this should be specifically a cowboy way of doing it, or invented by cowboys. It is simply the time before electric coffee machines, french presses, percolators, Melitta filters, or the simples way to make coffee outdoors on open fire.
i just saw a video with 400k views and he took 15 mins to explain this! i commented it should be a 30 second clip and he was a tool for the length and as soon as i closed that video, this one came up. well made clip brother. lol 15 mins for this
I was always told to never boil your coffee , I add milk n sugar then coffee then pour over the boiling water n not to burn the coffee, you want to maintain those coffee oils. I wonder what coffee boffens think hmm...
@@jeetkunedoatlanta2464 if it is plastic, studies show that plastic releases particles into food. Some claim BPA free, and they end up having a different form that is even worse for health.
The fact that you are calling someone a dummy and can't even spell it is hilarious... also try looking up what cowboy coffee is and maybe see what a percolator is. This is how people made coffee for decades before your drip machine genius....
I like caveman coffee. Just dump it dry in your mouth and eat it. 😆
Probably not as dry as the chicken I had tonight😂
I prefer primate coffee. Smack yourself in the head with a rock a few times it really wakes you up and makes you alert
😂😂😂😂. Very funny
Have you tried chocolate coffee beans?
Soft sweet choco and crunchy bitter beans are a surprisingly good combo. Great pre-workout or hiking snack.
Pfff...you eat the grounds by themselves? I eat mine with the shell on.
Not tried tapping the pot to settle the grounds. Was taught to use a little cold water. Will give this a go. 👍
I do both.
Both is the surefire way.
Hm. Ok
Yes sir. Tapping loosens the grounds from the side of the cup so they float down eventually. Cold water sinks in warm water, pulling the ground down to the bottom faster
So, tap first, then add the cold water ! Nice.
I always wondered how they did that without filters.
Thanks for the short!
Stockings make good filters also
“Arthur we need to make more coffee”
I made coffee every morning that exact same way except the tapping. Give it five minutes and the grounds will settle. Funny part is I’m using the same Stanley cook pot also.
Brew ot stronger than usual and add a little bit of cold water. This will carry the grounds to the bottom right after brewing
The last time I was in jail we got to have an electric percolator (without metal parts). This is what we did, but used a little cold water sprinkled on top of the hot coffee to take the grounds to the bottom. Really good during a game of Spades.😅
And as far as I’m concerned you should still be there
@@AbdulHafeez-oc5ux as far as I'm concerned you should be riding camels in the desert.

the best, simplest and cheapest way. this is how coffee was made before all the electronic machines and such from the past 100 years

This is very helpful thank you!
he did it correctly...Lots make the mistake of adding the coffee straight into Boiling water....you add it before its hot. believe it or not burnt coffee is a thing
Can’t you use the lid as a strainer? It has holes in it (unless it’s fine ground coffee I guess).
Try this without letting it boil. It'll taste much better.
They hard a hard boil going. Most examples use a much softer boil or none like you said.
Yeah almost all videos I’ve seen on cowboy coffee have it boiling
Thank you, I'm going to try this today!
Thank you again Sir.🎉The Rao of life is a cowboy coffee Simple The Simple again and again.❤
Like a Turkish coffee in a way .
But much less concentrated
In one of my favorite films Hildago there's a scene where the Sheik is talking to the Cowboy about how most foreigners find their coffee too strong. Frank Hopkins drinks it straight and says "Where I'm from we throw a horseshoe in the pot. If it stands up that means coffee is ready" 😂
Best way to make coffee
No doubt brother!
Ah yes, the 1880 propane burner
hahaha just what I was thinking
I don’t believe that is the point lol
Wow. So they boiled the water with the coffee in it?! How revolutionary!
I love your video the most because all I have to do is tap the side of the pot in order to make the coffee grounds go to the bottom.
It's as simple as that, tap the pot, shock the grounds and you're good to go. Never really been a fan of adding cold water! Thanks for your comment Laurie, you're awesome 👍
What kind of stove is that?
Thank you very much Sir.🎉🎉🎉🎉
what type of coffe we use?
Didn't know the tap the pot thing thanks❤❤❤
Where did you get this outdoor stove?
I have super hard water that kills any coffee pot within 2 weeks. This is how I make coffee both in the field and at home. It tastes and smells great.
Wish I woulda known of that tapping trick instead of using cold water. Wound up chewing my coffee through welding school lol
You forgot to say yes-haw …Love my Stanley French press
Believe it or not I like a bold and not taste so good coffee. This would be right up my alley. That's regular coffee right not instant?
Hey Celery Juice! That's correct, just regular coffee ☕️
@@ManDogWild
I really want to give this a whirl. I'll let you know.
Could we pass it through a paper filter after done ?
I don't see why not 👍
If you use cold water, do reheat the coffee again?
No, coffee will still be hot, just a little cold water to bring the coffee grinds to the bottom.
Yes the simplest method I’ve found, less gear to haul around as well. I also use a “coffee brew buddy” filter to catch some of the grinds. 0:57
I like a nice brew like that But i usually pour 5 times more ground in it^^
perfect! 🙂👍🏻
Fav coffee
got to put cold water over top so the grinds will go to the bottom
Works for me
Hitting the side of the cup like that also keeps the mountain lions away 😂
It’s a multifunctional method 😂
What stove are you using
Odoland 3500W/6800W Windproof Camp Stove Camping Gas Stove
That's cowboy tea with only 60 seconds of boil. 6 minutes + is cowboy coffee.
Love your Stanley set-up, and looks to be some good, tasty coffee there ! Thanks for the little video.
Where you get that burner at?
Odoland 3500W/6800W Windproof Camp Stove Camping Gas Stove
Thanks partner
This is not 🤠☕? I'm watching Bonanza and This is not how Little Joe and Hoss made their ☕ ! I'm sorry. 💞🤭
Ahh yes, I too like chewing the coffee grounds while drinking my coffee
I’ve done this before thinking it wouldn’t be bad. It was the worst cup of coffee I’ve ever had
i appreciate the blunt honesty 😂 not for everyone !
💀 had made it today but I let it boil a little too long didn’t make it right ended up tasting like shii
Coffee were never made to boiled! ☕️🤦♂️🦧
I can only imagine
Greatest cup of coffee ever
Cowboy Coffee ☕️
Just strain it through tightly woven fabric like a handkerchief or a pair of tights..
Cold water shocks the grounds to the bottom as well
Imagine if they Keurig Machines back in the day lol

Tap the pot!!! Good one.
Cowboy Kent Rawlings.

I have to drink it filtered. Can’t do this
Thats regular coffee i drink every morning and evening

i thought that we where only to use very very coarse grounds not that... looks like... dare i say espresso?
like turkish coffee
Here everyone calling me crazy about carrying coffee in a baby bottle 😂
3 in 1
and when you toss a horse shoe in and it straightens out its done.
😂
No plastic mug/cup for me. Stainless steel, ceramic or glass.
Yeeehaa!!! 👍
I think before it's all over we're all gonna have coffee head aches.
But you gotta have to have medium roast or light roast. Don't make dark roast like this.
No bits at all?
If done *properly* then: no
They go to the bottom u can also use cold water instead of tapping to make the bits go to the bottom
Ya gotta toss a cold horseshoe in it!
Still prefer tea

Aso known as 'coffee'.
Thats just turkish coffee

Cowboys used whole beans not ground. !!!!!!!!!!
But a gas stove is alright 👍
That's not cowboy coffee...thats man bun coffee
this just improperly made Turkish coffee
You need sugar 😀 its very bitter coz the water temperatur is very high 🙏
Hot coffee in a plastic cup? No thanks. 😅
You don't want to be using plastic utensils, especially with heat.
Who is using plastic utensil? If you are referring to the cup. It's made for hot or cold things....

Heat the water before adding the coffee.
Boy , leave the cow drink italian espresso !
Disgusting burnt coffee... Yum
