24:00 Honestly out of the 2 iridescents the video tape feels like the strongest one. The remote feels... Underwhelming. Yes, while it May be true that survivors will be around TVs whenever they have a tape, its too short of a range and duration for it to have more use. I would personally tweak the numbers a bit and make it a purple, with the one that makes all survivors start with tapes, with perhaps a 10% extra condemm rate slapped on it. Anyways back to the topic at hand, tape feels like a really good addon, even throught its dependant on the TVs spawn. Allows for hit and run jumpscare tactics, and with information perks like barbecue or her own scourge hook, or even with the remote in a lesser way, can get you a lot of mobility, and therefore, a lot of map pressure. Personally would pair it with the one to maintain more the speedboost when projecting
Personally I think the Onryo (or Sadako for the Japanese version and Samara for the American version) is a better version of old Freddy. I know it’s kinda early, but with knowing how to play her and having good perks she could potentially have the best map pressure in the game.
her name is actually Sadako (Samara is from the American remake "the Ring", Sadako is from the original Japanese version "Ringu") I actually find it kind of funny how just a couple of hours before she launched I was talking about how I wished for something similar to old Freddy since I value unique killers over strong ones (Freddy's rework might've made him powerful for a while but it also changed him from somthing super unique to one of the most bland and basic killers). I wished for it and then said it'd never happen, just a couple of hours later and it's basically exactly what I wished for.
@@Eclipsed_Embers I’m just so used to calling her Samara, plus the TV’s made me think about the American movies lol. Same honestly, I used to main old Freddy and there was something about him that I really enjoyed.
@@Sword_Man_YT going against freddie was pretty spooky as new player. He had a lot of powers like gen blood teleport that was hard to understand how to deal with and the mini stealth. These combo killers seem to have a map obj, sometimes a teleport or slow down, and then some anti loop powers.
Wow I might actually be a killer main after she releases…she seems fun as hell! Also one thing that missed was her vaulting animation, they should’ve made it like demigorgon where he looks more animalistic crawling though windows etc. I like sadakos vault animation but it’s a wasted potential to make her that much creepier in that vaulting animation
It feels like more and more killers that don't fully play how the Entity wants them to are coming out, with PHead quite literally cutting into what I'm presuming is the Entity itself with their blade and just ignoring the hook system with their own cages/mori, Phead 2 with literally dragging people to hell, Sadako's tape, shit even Micheal doesn't play her way with how he's willing to just shank someone.
@@roxas4930 soon there will be a killer playing WITH the survivors to defeat the Entity like a boss fight lol survivors will be like the killer's little minions
So it's like Wraith with the cloaking, Freddy with the teleporting, and Pig with the TV slowdown, Trapper with the resetting TVs, Trickster with the condemn bar, and PH with the quick mori. I like it.
Empathic Connection is definitely useful when you’re running Solidarity/Autodidact build. Instead of knowing who’s injured, the injured will come to you. So no more empathy or Bond, super excited for this fun perk
@@jihi9376 idk its giving me chills and all the other killer look nasty and spooky but this killer power and his mori animation litterly look like a ghost thats why maybe
The Videotape iridescent and distorted photo could be extremely good for having constant map pressure since you're able to decloak, see if there is an enemy and hit them and instantly gain most if not all your teleports back to keep doing it again.
Dark theory + shadow step, you're getting a little further than the killer expects and they don't see your scratch marks so you break line of sight and run to hide, the killer rounds the corner expecting to see you before you get behind something, you might already be gone
Telephone and Distorted Photo seem to be for ANY manifestation, not just TV projection. So you can use your basic power to manifest, hear their screams, and head over to the hindered survivors. Or am I reading that wrong?
As always masterpiece art incredible animations and design well thought out themes of the movie connected with game but gameplay wise will probably be weak cause behavior is scared shitless to make anything strong that would upset the part of the surv community that are frantic maniacs.
Floods of Rage + Make Your Choice would be absolutely insane. Hook somebody on a scourge hook and then port to the closest TV as soon as they're unhooked.
Really likes this Chapter honestly! It seems genuinely interesting and I really like the Killer's power. I'm afraid if it'll be too underwhelming or underpowered but there's no knowing until people get used to it more!
ultimately the power seems fun and unique and that's more important than being powerful of course the very worst thing a power can be is boring and weak like Twins
@@Eclipsed_Embers if they lessened the cooldowns or let you swap to Charlotte during hit cooldown with no lengthy wake up after a successful hit. Twins would be infinitely more fun.
Instead of making surviver perks that discourage camping, they a made a killer perk that discourages camping. I'm speechless, well done on this one BHVR.
I think the best thing about Scourge Hook: Flood of Rage is that it doesn't matter whether the survivors know its there or not? Like, what, they're just gonna let the hooked survivor die? It's a win-win for Killer whatever the survivors do.
Imagine this perk + Chili on this killer. You hook someone, tp to a TV near a survivor 40m away, and then either go back to a TV near the hook or chase the survivor while seing their aura when Flood of Rage is active
If they know the killer has this perk, they can hide in a locker whenever someone is being saved to hide their aura. Not like anyone is going to figure out the killer has it tho.
@@omardanelli2911 I meant the survivors who aren’t rescuing get into a locker. The aura reading will not start if they leave before the 7 seconds elapse. They can just leave the moment someone is unhooked and not have their aura read. Like I said, not like it matters that this possible since there’s hardly any way for the survivors to know you have it.
Dark Theory with the stealth boon I think would be a great combination. Making it hard to track people and letting them get out of dodge just that lil bit faster can help keep them out of sight. I like the idea of it.
This is by far the scariest chapter. This was many of my friends scariest childhood movie that we should have never watched. I dont think i want to play this game anymore if shes chasing me.
I like Empathic Connection, it's an awesome perk to help people from being dumb if they know how to use it, especially with not bringing the killer to a gen you're working on. If everyone has this, comms or not, they know their exact locaiton when injured and cna have 3 diffirent people on the4 corners of the map doing gens And let's not forget the synergy this has with No Mither players..
i mean oni rips your tongue out and bashes you in the snoot with a big stick, and deathslinger launched a patriot missile through the back of your head so idk if this is more gore than those
@@RusticHighman but you never truly see mangled limbs in other moris which makes this one unique, it doesn't make it gory through unrealistic lacerations and bloodless stabbings or maybe even foot stompings. Sadako is the first one to cause mangled limbs on survs in a mori
Thanks Otz for all the videos, even after I stopped playing DBD I try to watch your videos to see how the game is progressing. I may be returning to DBD in the future. 👍
Otz you missread 2 of the purple addons "Telephone" and "Distorted Photo". Both trigger on Manifestation (aka uncloaking). So it should be possible to scout with the Photo similar to Compound 21 on Blight. And Telephone might enable some cloak/uncloak plays to help in loops.
Might be a good way to discourage gen-rushing, especially since Sadako herself can inflict Condemned to a group. You have to spread out to counter it, I suppose.
Cool idea would have been that she spawned in a well and crawled out of it and in order for her to teleport she has to crawl into the well, but she can look at people through the TVs before she comes out, and the survivors can see her looking at them from the TV like in the movie, and instead of taking a tape and moving from one tv to the next which in my opinion is kinda dumb, you take the tapes and throw them in the well, and the killer can then crawl into her well and send the tapes back to their original TVs (TVs won’t turn back on until the tapes are returned, in the game currently they turn back on automatically over time) doing this would make grabbing the tapes more worth it in my opinion, because I have a feeling most survivors aren’t gonna grab the tapes in some situations so they don’t get more condemn status effect
Onryō are not simply vengeful undead people. They are revenants; created when a tormented soul leaves enough negative emotions behind in this world as it departs to the next. There is nothing else of the person they once were to them, only pain, anger and the drive to take it out on anyone within reach.
@@TheRealMycanthrope I mean they could've said anything else. Like the guy above mentioned they could've just went with "the Revenant" or something along those lines. I just think it's cool, man.
Ok hear me out, I know it's not the best build, but: Merciless Storm, Unnerving Precense, Pop goes the Whisel, and Tinkerer or whatever you want. [Edit: I think lullaby can be good here. Tinkerer is not symbiotic you're right guys.] This on Legion with the irridessent button add on for full map terror radius. I think this could be something.
The problem is that in this build Tinkerer would anti-synergize with Unnerving. Since you have no terror radius you can't shrink the zones from the Merciless skill check barrage.
Merciless storm might be pretty good with Eruption if you can manage to chase down a survivor and down them on time. But loving the perks, they seem useful. I imagine floods of rage would be good with Nemesis since he's a killer who benefits a lot from information perks same as Pyramid Head.
She's especially scary to me because this was the first horror movie I'd ever really watched as a kid. Our living room in our small apartment consisted of a windowless room with a big TV against one wall and a couch in the middle of the room. When I was like seven when my parents fell asleep really late watching movies and I snuck in behind the couch when the Ring came on. Watched the whole thing. Best believe I was freaked out. Back then I even had one of those vcr TV combos in my room.
The way that survivors can spread her message to save themselves is so flavorful and cool, though I have no idea if its optimal to do it or not. But I feel like it will be one of those things like cleansing where solo survivors will constantly screw over everyone else to do it lol.
That mori was pretty accurate for deaths in Japanese horror films. Kayako from The Grudge/Ju-On was worse about breaking people, but it's a staple of most Japanese horror. A pretty well-done killer, I think
Right now I don’t really like the idea of dark theory. It’s basically a perk that makes weak killers weaker. High mobility killers will not care about this perk, but for m1 killers 2% could be quite costly if the survivors know what they’re doing.
All his perks are actually decent. 10 after stun if you land it to be able to lose the chase instead of being tunneled forever. The reverse Empathy for survivors to run to you. But 2% haste? 🤔
I'm not a fan of having similar perks with just different conditions to trigger it, self preservation is based on a survivor going down, parental guidance same thing but with pallet stun, emphatic connection, you get 10% healing speed, why can't they just give empathy that 10% healing speed buff and make a more unique perks for the new survivor? 🤔 Eh just feels lazy idk 🤷♂️
There's only so many perks and we're what, over 30 killers/survivors in now? Each one with three perks each? Having similar perks with different conditions seems pretty good for build/play variety.
I love the small detail of when you were on survivor the condemned status was separated into 7 sections representing the the 7 days they have left to live after watching the tape
Boon Totem: Dark Theory is an EXTREMELY problematic perk for one reason; there are a lot of hackers who cheat subtley by increasing their movement speed by 2-3%. Now, it will become impossible to tell if this perk is in play or if someone is cheating.
Tbf, I don’t think it will really matter unless you spend a ton of time looking for a boon that isn’t there. Whether they’re hacking or getting the benefit from a perk, the gameplay will be the same. And if we are being honest, if we did find someone hacking a 2-3% speed boost, it’s unlikely they’d get banned anyways. So it may be somewhat problematic, but I wouldn’t say EXTREMELY
As their condemned builds, they will have to retrieve tape from 1 tv (also adds 1 condemned, so they can't leave it till they're nearly condemned), then they have to immediately reach their highlighted tv or else they will become condemned by the tape. HOWEVER if they ignored tvs like you said, it's risky for them since Sadako will have alot of areas to project from to condemn them. If they don't ignore tvs and disable them, they will build condemned faster but they will be in control of when and where. This will waste alot of their time that could have been spent doing gens however and requires them to actively search for tvs to disable.

Thanks for checking this out and bringing it here Otz! Much love!
Personally I think the Onryo (or Sadako for the Japanese version and Samara for the American version) is a better version of old Freddy. I know it’s kinda early, but with knowing how to play her and having good perks she could potentially have the best map pressure in the game.
her name is actually Sadako (Samara is from the American remake "the Ring", Sadako is from the original Japanese version "Ringu")
I actually find it kind of funny how just a couple of hours before she launched I was talking about how I wished for something similar to old Freddy since I value unique killers over strong ones (Freddy's rework might've made him powerful for a while but it also changed him from somthing super unique to one of the most bland and basic killers).
@@Sword_Man_YT I really wish that Freddy had an addon to change him back to old Freddy
@@Eclipsed_Embers I know right, the dream world basically means nothing now since survivor’s don’t even need to be asleep to hit them.
I thought the same thing, I just hope its not a creepy crawl because they are saving it for a ju-on The Grudge chapter
I agreed kind more like a wraith style animation where she creepy quickly contorts her body while climbing through the window

Sadako strikes me as another killer who full on breaks the entity’s realm, similar to Pyramid Head. Interesting

I like it.
Empathic Connection is definitely useful when you’re running Solidarity/Autodidact build. Instead of knowing who’s injured, the injured will come to you. So no more empathy or Bond, super excited for this fun perk
Autodidact is a fun perk for me...
It can heal my teammates in a very short period of time

At 16:00 you can see yoichi's broken bones sticking out of his arm, this killer has such nice animations.
The animations all around are very refreshing and new, breaking the stale mold of old DBD.
Love this chapter can’t wait to see how the perks are used :)
@Ika Ayu I’m so confused but thank you
The Videotape iridescent and distorted photo could be extremely good for having constant map pressure since you're able to decloak, see if there is an enemy and hit them and instantly gain most if not all your teleports back to keep doing it again.
Remember: you hear your own heart beat. Not the killer's.
Dark theory + shadow step, you're getting a little further than the killer expects and they don't see your scratch marks so you break line of sight and run to hide, the killer rounds the corner expecting to see you before you get behind something, you might already be gone

Also ,would anyone else agree that blood lodge is probably the closest map for Sadako?
I'm afraid if it'll be too underwhelming or underpowered but there's no knowing until people get used to it more!
ultimately the power seems fun and unique and that's more important than being powerful
of course the very worst thing a power can be is boring and weak like Twins
@@Eclipsed_Embers if they lessened the cooldowns or let you swap to Charlotte during hit cooldown with no lengthy wake up after a successful hit. Twins would be infinitely more fun.
@@Eclipsed_Embers The thing is that Twins aren’t weak. They’re strong, just clunky as all fuck to play.
she seems like a cool killer. She's terrifying but fun to play against. Still haven't played as her yet
Instead of making surviver perks that discourage camping, they a made a killer perk that discourages camping. I'm speechless, well done on this one BHVR.
Plus her glitching make her hard to read and turn loop. Already smell this salt incoming from survivors try hards XD
@@ishiblack7497 I already have a hard time determining which way spirit is facing. Can’t wait to go against and play Sadako!
Not the only killer perk that does this. Bbq and devour also reward for not camping.
@miss devexa I don't see how she's boring, seems a lot more interesting interaction compared to Spirit
@miss devexa that's where that concept came from.. that boring "ghost girl with long hair and a white dress" 🤦♀️
I think the best thing about Scourge Hook: Flood of Rage is that it doesn't matter whether the survivors know its there or not? Like, what, they're just gonna let the hooked survivor die? It's a win-win for Killer whatever the survivors do.
And it's probably pretty good with make your choice, so you know where the survivor it's going and can insta down them.
@@okatori795 i mean, you can still see them going inside the locker, plus you can't need to stay there 7 second, which can be a big deal sometimes.
Congrats on getting on trending! #7 🥳
If everyone has this, comms or not, they know their exact locaiton when injured and cna have 3 diffirent people on the4 corners of the map doing gens
And let's not forget the synergy this has with No Mither players..
I Will use it for sandbagging
The first mori is maybe one of the most gore like moris in this game. I haven't been excited for DBD in months, and this actually looks good

Merciless storm with Tinker sounds good! Imagine sneaking up on them and it scares them into leaving the gen or missing the check under pressure.
Might be a good way to discourage gen-rushing, especially since Sadako herself can inflict Condemned to a group. You have to spread out to counter it, I suppose.
Otz has the best chat. They get so excited about the smallest things
I just want to inform you guys that Otz has a nice cut G
If only could only light boon totems once per trial, I feel a large portion of their issues would be remedied just like that.
That or when a killer destroys a boon, it destroys the totem as well. Would also make pimento better, and a sort of anti-boon perk.
Best part so far is definitely when she jumpscares you in the menu while you are waiting for a game
I have a feeling make your choice is definitely gonna be seen way more after this comes out
Been waiting for the new chapter to try to motivate me to play killer again. Hopefully the new killer is cool
12:19 this pick up animation is actually better than some moris.
The eye scene from by the mori. Damn Perfection

I find those perks amazing...
Call of brine would be amazing with PoP
Merciless storm would be amazing on an anti-skill check doctor
That's a sick ass name choice too-
Onryō are vengeful spirits come back from the dead. Not bad BHVR.
So literally just the appropriate name then? Yeah, sick choice 🙄
Ok hear me out, I know it's not the best build, but:
Merciless Storm, Unnerving Precense, Pop goes the Whisel, and Tinkerer or whatever you want.
[Edit: I think lullaby can be good here. Tinkerer is not symbiotic you're right guys.]
This on Legion with the irridessent button add on for full map terror radius.
I think this could be something.
The problem is that in this build Tinkerer would anti-synergize with Unnerving. Since you have no terror radius you can't shrink the zones from the Merciless skill check barrage.
I would replace tinkerer in that build it counters unnerving presence
Merciless storm might be pretty good with Eruption if you can manage to chase down a survivor and down them on time. But loving the perks, they seem useful. I imagine floods of rage would be good with Nemesis since he's a killer who benefits a lot from information perks same as Pyramid Head.
Thematically, this was really well done.
New scourge hook plus "make your choice" seems like a good combo
didn’t even think about that combo but you’re absolutely right. combine it with agitation and pain resonance that’s a great build
New scourge hook + MYC + devour.... hmmm
Floods of rage and make your choice are gonna be really fun to run.

I just insta killed 2 people back to back in the same game with the stare. I've never got a reverse bear trap kill I don't think they are comparable.
Thanks for the great videos. I hope you put chapters in the video.
The way that survivors can spread her message to save themselves is so flavorful and cool, though I have no idea if its optimal to do it or not. But I feel like it will be one of those things like cleansing where solo survivors will constantly screw over everyone else to do it lol.
It kind of reminds me of Plague in that sense. Selfishness v. Team play
That boon totem seems kinda op af. Think about the near infinite loops now being infinite.
My mom says hi back chat!
is it just me or did this video just make my day
That mori was pretty accurate for deaths in Japanese horror films. Kayako from The Grudge/Ju-On was worse about breaking people, but it's a staple of most Japanese horror. A pretty well-done killer, I think
呪 means curse so it's pretty cool that it's her attack 11:27

Right now I don’t really like the idea of dark theory. It’s basically a perk that makes weak killers weaker. High mobility killers will not care about this perk, but for m1 killers 2% could be quite costly if the survivors know what they’re doing.
Lets wait and see what survs can do with it. I think it is a good perk, but you can always leave chase if you think they have it.
All his perks are actually decent.

Merciless storm is really good at lower ranks. I think this perk is more suitable with Doctor with full stacks of Lullaby.
They're running out of ideas. I cant really blame them though
There's only so many perks and we're what, over 30 killers/survivors in now? Each one with three perks each? Having similar perks with different conditions seems pretty good for build/play variety.
Bro I was so scared of her as a kid, even now she makes me feel uncomfortable. Still a really good addition, if only Jason could be in this game
My sister traumatized me with her when I was younger💀 I’m 21 now and it still makes me uncomfortable.
I love the small detail of when you were on survivor the condemned status was separated into 7 sections representing the the 7 days they have left to live after watching the tape
Just a reminder otz that we love you so much! Have a nice day!!
Probably my favourite killer in terms of design. I'm confused though. Wouldn't it be better for survivors to just ignore the TVs?
From my understanding, they have to interact with one to remove their condemned status effect if she teleports a lot near them and gives it to them.
