The combined shuttle thing really reminds me of the Sea truck with its detachable modules from Subnautica Below Zero! Great video Jang! Might just have to pick this one up if it goes on any kind of sale or discount this year
Good to see Lego addressing the important issues of near-future space travel... Zero-gravity coffee brewing! Thanks for a great overview and review Jang.
Another awesome review Jang ! This space station really reminds me of Interstellar ship (Come on TARS!) and space shuttle looks like sea truck from Subnautica 2! There are so many customization options hehe!
I really love how these sets are making people thinking about customizing them. My first thought was that the modules could connect to the enter ring if you remove the wheels, making it even more like a sci-fi ship. A lot of potential here!
Through the review I thought it would be cool to be able to remove the golden ski poles and fold the ring sections flat to turn the wheel into travel mode.
Lovely review as always! I think the purple batteries are made from crystals, while the pink ones are from alien plants (not ice-cream; seen in the largest starbase set)
I believe the 1x2 tiles on three green astronauts are meant to be solar panels. Can't wait to see more of these Space sets, even if this one was a dud. Great review as always, jang!
" _Hans Zimmer - No Time For Caution_ starts playing" Jokes aside, the set looks really good. I just wish it doesn't cost a proverbial kidney to buy one.
Great review. I agree that the pods should be a bit bigger or open up more to allow playing inside. The shuttle unit could be like a tug placing or removing the pods if needed. The 4 printed flag pieces can be attached to the dock unit. Then perhaps with some modification a stand could be created from the pod with the satellite dish
I was thinking the two gray wheels in the center of the ring could be removed, and a module attached at those points facing upwards. Imagine the command module in the center and the wheel behind it, that would look great!
Seeing the spacing of the little wheel rim pieces at the top, makes me think that it is intended to attach modules to it as well. You just have to remove the rim pieces.
I starting watching these when i got into lego during lockdown, eventually life picked up again and i havent bought or made lego for a few years, but i still love review these videos. Something about them is so calming but still engaging, its like when you listen to the perfect song that just scratches the brain itch right. Point is i love your work, and thank you ❤️
Space Pod Train! I kinda feel like THAT would be the main play operation, using it for expeditions and such. The station ring is for storage/display. Love that they use the same modular connection system they used for the previous City Space and Aquatic themes, that's the kind of integrated compatibility I remember LEGO use to do a lot. Could probably modify a connection on the other end of the space-bike dock to make it like a flatbed if you have extra connections. Looking at the larger sets like this and the launch base I think the darker helmet/arms are meant to be higher ranking officers?
This reminds me of the old mission control set 6456. It had the segmented shuttle. Cockpit, cargo bay, and the battery powered boosters. You could remove the cargo bay to have a short shuttle. Glad to see lego make a good return to space sets.
I love the system behind that, but there are a few things I would like to see in maybe a second year of it or someone to customize this: a T- and X-module to add modules to the side, a module that is double the size of the ones in this set and more base/terrain builds. Maybe a factory that makes batteries out of the crystals or a bigger bio dome module.
Happy to see it's not just me and my fat fingers complaining about the modules being a bit too small. Otherwise great set, love the modularity. I just wish they could have somehow made them open on both ends so you actually play with the combined ship train. Also these need a central module hub in order to make an awesome planetary station or a bigger ship. I can't wait to get a hold of 2 of these and tinker.
Imagine how it would look like with enough support/connector-pieces like 40244 stacking 10 od these sets up! Also, we get these modules in Friends and Technic this year, so I'd like to ask if you're going to do some cross-theme module swapping once all reviews are done?
Like a space station in flight, it could use the central portion to grab what you might call of "space train" and use the small space "bike" as a form of propulsion.
Can't the ring be added to the train using the modified tiles with technic pins? (The ones with the small wheels on them that you were using to spin it.) It looks like their spacing is the same as the orange parts.
When you’re done reviewing these new space sets could you do a video about combining all of the space modules from city, friends, and technic. I am very curious about what they look like combined.
Back in Classic space I used to use the jumper plate and two headlight bricks to represent batteries / power sources inspired by a classic space Lego Robot built. Interesting that Lego is putting emphasis on an idea similar to something I did as a kid.
I think you are spot on with the stand it would be nice to have some angel or height to the model. I love that (last year or the year before) previous sets will “work or dock” with this new set. Great work.
This needs to have a MOC stand built for it that is all/mostly transparent and makes the whole thing spin very slowly... and a Wicked Bricks-ish display case with appropriate background.. oh, and lighting.. would make this an incredible display piece!
I feel the lunar space station hit this mark far better and this just feels like a big miss. Thinking of this as kid me I don’t see $100 worth of play out of the main design. The size of the modules and the ring just don’t make sense to me. I feel it would have been better to do it like the ISS in real life. You could have a big high dollar core set but also several smaller $30-50 dollar sets that could be added to it but could also stand on their own. Then you could add in a range of space craft from a simple pod shuttle to a large craft. Include extra docking pieces in the sets for kids to build their own additions.
I think it would have been cool if there was a unit that had 4 or even 6 of the docking ports to really allow some crazy module set ups but its probably not all too difficult to take another one of these and use that as a part pack.
With the compartments lined up in a row, this would make a great prisoner transport ship. That way access between pods isn’t a factor. I may have to pick this up.
I built most of the city space wave over the past two days, and only have this and the space base left to build, I originally thought this set was A LOT smaller, until I built the command rover and realized just how big each module was.
Looks like it should be easy to mod the capsules to open one whole side up along with the roof. Or increase the length for more play room when it is opened up.
This is pretty great for the most part. Only things I could criticize are the transparent black being used and how cramped the modules are. They combine to make the modules dark and difficult to play in. Clear transparent pieces would make more sense, for minifigures to be able to see out and for us to he able to see in, and that's how it is on real space stations and spacecraft. It would make more sense for the minifigures to traverse the modules inside, than having to go through space. But, it is a toy. The space train configuration allows this feature at least. I believe the black and gold panels on the astronauts are meant to be smal solar panels.
Looks as though you could remove the two small wheels in the centre of the ring to expose the two technic pins for mounting some modules there. Wouldn't trust that connection with much weight but could be cool to place the command module at least.
Ya know, I would love if these sets came with just a handfull of transparent clear pieces for the figures, just to give that illusion of floating in zero-g.
As a toy I think this is fine though the current angle of the modules to the ring doesn't really make sense - when it rotates things will be flung outwards. As an AFOL I wish they had made 8 double ended modules with a 45 degree connection piece so they could be connected in a ring without the round gear pieces. That ring they could have been the base for building a bigger space station.
Space bus definitely looks better. I am looking forward to combining the latest space station with the ring to make a true space station where all can hang out in the hub and go to work in the modules. I am liking the newer sets but as is typical with Legos, some imagination is needed for improvement.
I think it is really annoying that there are no real openings at the connections between the modules. As a child I didn't like it at all if stuff didn't really work for my minifigures. Same with houses without stairs
This series looks really good, and the more I see the new color the more I like it. 12 year old me would have gone bonkers over this whole module system. It'd be great fun to expand on it and build your own modules. I just wish Lego had a smaller set with 4 of those connector pieces available. Looks like they're only in the ~$100 sets so far.
It's almost like someone needs to do a version 2 with slightly larger and longer modules, that can link on both sides, and 'hub pieces' that can link on 4 sides (or potentially 6 sides). They're almost there for a good modular space station with this one, just need a bit more time to bake I think. But the path is clear. (It's basically 'Kerbal Space Program' in Lego Form.)
Even if the station was designed to spin, the modules aren't oriented properly for centrifugal force gravity to be useful. The astronauts would be perpendicular to their work stations and amenities!
So many things that bug me about this set. Why aren't the segments open on the sides if they put caps on the airlock pieces anyways? Why is this a ring module if none of the segments are oriented according to the artificial gravity? If they suggest the space train configuration, why is there not a single segment with more than two airlock pieces for the "dead end" segments? Why didn't they just attach one wall to the openable roof of the segment for easier access? It's not like they are using the interior space on every wall anyways, mostly one wall of each segment remains plain...
I wonder if the LEGO designers were inspired by the Seattle Space Needle donning its original 1962 "Galaxy Gold" (orange) roof for its 60th Anniversary last year for the colorways of this years City space sets.
I love the new Space series. I believe thar the set with the connectors have a QR code on the back of the box. I agree, the modules are too small even for kids' hands. Otherwise, a great set. I look forward to your Interstellar Spaceship review.
If we are going off strictly play value I feel like this set is the best we have seen in a while for the price, and it also makes use of the unique things you can do with lego when compared to normal toys
The look of the space train really looks like the one from subnautica, only that it functions underwater. The idea of a space train on the other hand, reminds me of a certain gacha game
I think it’s possible to attach the ring to the modules via the central wheels you used to spin the station around? So the ring would be arranged vertically with the modules through its central axis. It could be a cool look!
"Space train"... are you thinking what I'm thinking? Put boggies under it? | know it doesn't fit in your custom city and you don't have the time for goofing off with this, but I can't unsee it. I am sure someone somewhere will do that.
Interstellar vibes anyone? That orange is cool, because it's similar to the orange we see in emergency/technical/industrial stuff, so it ads a realistic vibe to the sets Also PG Unicorn Gundam, casually chilling on the side in the end😅👌
For artificial maverty, the centrifugal force pulls things to the outside. So, the plant pod should face the opposite direction. As to the rest of the set, I don't like how each pod is separate instead of connecting to a central hub pod. Otherwise it seems cool.
Just try not to dock manually, unless you're Matthew McConaughey of course
The combined shuttle thing really reminds me of the Sea truck with its detachable modules from Subnautica Below Zero! Great video Jang! Might just have to pick this one up if it goes on any kind of sale or discount this year

"It's not possible."
"No. It's necessary."
Cooper, this is no time for caution!
SPACE TRAIN!! they could have done that as its own thing haha, but the ring is a cool format for it, love how the modular blocks work.
I'm just in love with the sub theme of space sets! The colour scheme is incredible; so joyful, playful, and lively.
I believe that the pink ice cream element represents some kind of alien plant life as seen in some sidebuilds
Your reviews are the best. Relaxing and informative, exactly what I want to watch after work.
The ring actually does have thrusters on the back it’s those trans orange pieces, which adds to the interstellar feel even more!
I really love how these sets are making people thinking about customizing them. My first thought was that the modules could connect to the enter ring if you remove the wheels, making it even more like a sci-fi ship. A lot of potential here!
I bet you can attach the cockpit to the centre where the two "wheels" are and have an Interstellar-like spaceship.
Through the review I thought it would be cool to be able to remove the golden ski poles and fold the ring sections flat to turn the wheel into travel mode.
I’m curious what made them want to make this new orange in between the existing shades. Looks nice!
I really like this, gives me a lot of Interestellar vibes
Wish lego would make an Ideas or Icons set based off the movie
So glad there's more LEGO Space stuff. I love seeing creative ideas like a modular space station that can be a modular space bus.
Lovely review as always! I think the purple batteries are made from crystals, while the pink ones are from alien plants (not ice-cream; seen in the largest starbase set)
I wish the octagonal parts were doors between the modules and a big living room inside the sandblue ring!
I believe the 1x2 tiles on three green astronauts are meant to be solar panels. Can't wait to see more of these Space sets, even if this one was a dud. Great review as always, jang!
" _Hans Zimmer - No Time For Caution_ starts playing"
Jokes aside, the set looks really good. I just wish it doesn't cost a proverbial kidney to buy one.
I have to believe Lego is planning an additional space set to enable spinning with the pieces already used.
I love this set. Reminds me of the Classic Space sets but with a modern and contemporary emphasis.
That command thingy reminds me of the truck from Subnautica Below Zero.
Great review. I agree that the pods should be a bit bigger or open up more to allow playing inside. The shuttle unit could be like a tug placing or removing the pods if needed. My man is crushing this review season!
As always the best reviews but fantastic timing aswell this time around :)
No matter how old I get, I'm never too old for Lego space stuff

i was so confused how those white pieces fit on the end i had to look at the instructions its those white plates with the pins very clever lego

I could barely hear what Jang was saying over the sound of Hans Zimmer's Interstellar organ music in my head
I love the system behind that, but there are a few things I would like to see in maybe a second year of it or someone to customize this: a T- and X-module to add modules to the side, a module that is double the size of the ones in this set and more base/terrain builds. I wish we could get an officially licensed Interstellar Endurance ship lego set

I cant wait till you start reviewing the new 2024 police sets
Can’t wait to pick this up and modify it to look like the Endurance from Interstellar!
Like a space station in flight, it could use the central portion to grab what you might call of "space train" and use the small space "bike" as a form of propulsion.
Can't the ring be added to the train using the modified tiles with technic pins? (The ones with the small wheels on them that you were using to spin it.) It looks like their spacing is the same as the orange parts.

those things combined made me go: Subnautica 2!
I really hope the lego space storyline keeps growing. We had the lunar base 2 ish years ago and this is the next chapter of that story
I think you are spot on with the stand it would be nice to have some angel or height to the model. I love that (last year or the year before) previous sets will “work or dock” with this new set. Great work.
Im so excited for these new space sets, they look so cool!
When you made sort of a ship out of them I could see a lot of potential for a Subnautica theme with the Sea Truck.
This needs to have a MOC stand built for it that is all/mostly transparent and makes the whole thing spin very slowly... and a Wicked Bricks-ish display case with appropriate background.. oh, and lighting.. would make this an incredible display piece!
All those modules connected to make that long shuttle reminds me of something out of Event Horizon
I feel the lunar space station hit this mark far better and this just feels like a big miss. Thinking of this as kid me I don’t see $100 worth of play out of the main design. Looks as though you could remove the two small wheels in the centre of the ring to expose the two technic pins for mounting some modules there. Wouldn't trust that connection with much weight but could be cool to place the command module at least.
Don't you think the ring could have been used as a hub where modules could interact isntead of just pluging them on ?
Ya know, I would love if these sets came with just a handfull of transparent clear pieces for the figures, just to give that illusion of floating in zero-g.
As a toy I think this is fine though the current angle of the modules to the ring doesn't really make sense - when it rotates things will be flung outwards. another fantastic review. never disappoints thanks jang! happy new year all :)
Love the idea of this set! The alt build for it reminds me of the Modular Sea Truck in Subnautica 2
That space truck looks like a rip off of the SeaTruck from subnautica lol
-It's not possible.
-No, it's necessary.
The Interstellar vibes are strong in this set, at least to me😅
I think it is really annoying that there are no real openings at the connections between the modules. As a child I didn't like it at all if stuff didn't really work for my minifigures. Same with houses without stairs
This is what I was curious about. Thank you so much for your review.
Don't forget that these modulars also now go into the Friends theme and I think even a Technic set.
It would be nice if those modular connector pieces were a stud or two wider in both axes.
The space train reminds me of the ship from pitch black, the hunter gratzner.
You could make a cube with connectors yourself, so you can connect something on all sides
seatruck from subnautica 2 vibes

I'm really liking the little robots each of these sets have n_n
I wonder if the LEGO designers were inspired by the Seattle Space Needle donning its original 1962 "Galaxy Gold" (orange) roof for its 60th Anniversary last year for the colorways of this years City space sets.
This line is very neat, the styles remind me of Construx designs.
I love the new Space series. I believe thar the set with the connectors have a QR code on the back of the box. I agree, the modules are too small even for kids' hands. Otherwise, a great set.
I look forward to your Interstellar Spaceship review.
The guy with the eye device is making me think of an olllllllld internet meme.

I agree about the stand the new space city base has some ridiculous launching pad that could have gone to this set as a stand
