That's a traffic circle not a roundabout. A roundabout is very specific traffic circle of a single lane with operating speed of 10 mph - 15 mph with yield merge traffic metering. Multi lane traffic circles are dangerous and are not included in roundabout statistics. A roundabout is detrimental to traffic flow of the primary road verses a traffic light. US doesn't have rotaries at least not well known. rotaries are high speed traffic circles with operating speeds above 40 mph with long merge areas.
You're making these definitions up. No US transportation authority uses operating speeds to define whether it's a traffic circle or roundabout. All traffic approaching a roundabout must yield to the circle, and roundabouts require splitter islands and a raised interior island. Traffic circles are not bound by these rules

I hope they continue to be installed everywhere. Spend some time in Europe and you'll love them.
Traffic circles are not bound by these rules
this just takes the place of traffic lights

Where is the news on the Maui fires fires? How are the people doing in Maui dealing with their houses being burnt down. With their family that has died. Why ain't you guys talkin about high-priced products with corporations. Why hasn't the Congress passed a bill on price control on products. Or price control on rent for all 50 states.
I'm glad to see that that there is at least ONE person left who's paying attention and knows what's going on. God bless you, be careful, and watch your back.
@@ApocalypticAngel2178_ will do take care of yourself and God bless
Easier for vehicles, but harder for pedestrians to cross the road
Um no lol you simply cross where are you supposed to and watch for traffic
Roundabouts are cool and all, but can you not make the inner circle sidewalks edge drop a 90 degree so it doesnt scape peoples wheels or bumpers.
no matter....we'll all be going back to horse and buggy when the gas runs out and the power for the electric cars shut down.😅
I love the Milwaukee Roundabout, shows consistently how dumb people can be.
About time.
The fact that America makes a video about roundabouts 🤣🤣
Yeah,yeah.
It takes a long time to create a round about.
If it's a safer option, then the price is worth it.
I prefer reach arounds but I’ll try this
we have a cities skylines player in the office
We built us one of them roundabouts here in West Virginia up Jessup Hollar. It really only has 1 entrance and exit but the boys love to drive their ATVs in circles.
And then shows how dangerous they are with merging traffic and Americans who already can't drive 😂😭🤦
I love Roundabouts. I could drive around in them all day 😊 ... but is that legal? 🤔
P.S. Dont forget to look for "The beginning of the Sunday Law?" A very interesting short video. Take care 👋😊
What is so safe about round a bouts 😲
It's safer because people have to slow down and watch where they're going, otherwise they just crash in the middle.
Never heard of people running red light?
Vehicles on and approaching roundabouts are generally all going in the same direction plus you need to slow down and look. They’re more fuel efficient. Safer, don’t cost money to run (lights and sensors) and traffic flows 15/20% more efficient. They look better too.
NOTHING. They are intentionally lying to hide their TRUE intentions.
This reporter clearly hasnt been to Elizabethtown, KY, where the cars inside a traffic circle downtown yield to the oncoming spokes. But there are other traffic circles in the area that are "normal". Talk about confusing!
There is a difference between a traffic circle and a roundabout.
@@linusromey561 what about a rotary? 🤪

Rather have a clover leaf than a roundabout...
Cloverleaf is a horrible design where drivers coming off the highway and drivers getting on an exit meet at the same point going fast, no thank you!
@@8mydaydream409 not every clover left I been on. Roundabouts no one slows down or yields like they are supposed to. They come to a rolling stop which is a moving citation. I live in Japan now but a town near my hometown in the USA has a roundabout that connects two VERY heavy traffic highways. There are accidents every other week if not every week. It's stupid.

@@justincredible4536 The earth is sinking into a bowl and it's hard to turn right, it used to be flat but something happened!

You are a very confused person.
Sounds like a personal problem
Practice driving I guess
Driving in a straight line seems safer than this lol
Steering is difficult for Americans?
I was nearly killed at a four way stop.
It is.
Yeah right put one of those angeles you're gonna have a lot of crasher
What are you trying to say??
I don't like them.
Roundabouts are confusing..
for people with low IQ
Is it because you have to think rather than relying on a light to tell you what to do? This is 100 times less confusing than a intersection with cars crossing from multiple directions.
Not really, pull up,yield for cars to finish their circle, you can either turn right,or go straight over a bend, and that's it.
When I was still driving I encountered more incidents of anger and road rage at the only two roundabouts we had locally. Now we have many more roundabouts and I leave the driving to my family as I keep an eye out for the lunatics!!😊 Personally I despise them, people approach them like the quarter mile at a dragstrip here and I'm serious.
They're the worst.
Why?

Here's a clue to improve safety on America's roadways.
13 states allow people to obtain drivers licenses without reading or speaking English.
I always thought we were an English speaking country since all the road signs are in English. But, I've been wrong before. 😅
Your racism is showing.
In 20 years you will be a minority , excellent ...
You thought wrong and you are wrong again, US traffic signs use specific colors, symbols and shapes to convey meaning so no reading is required. If you want improved safety on America's roadways you should be required to pass a thorough driver training course which includes accident avoidance to get a license and pass a proficiency evaluation at each renewal. Just like civilized countries.
@@EinKerl3554 , so direction signs in English??
@@JeffreySmith7777 Will always include appropriate arrows or symbols, did you not notice? Also, you do not need to speak a language to learn key words. As an example my word for "caution" is vorsicht but I know in Czech it's pozor, Polish is ostrożność, French would be prudence and Norwegian is forsiktighet. And of those other languages I only speak two. Try to be more aware of how things work in the world.
They're good but out county is putting them in for decoration. Some affluent people wanted them and the voard of commissioners jumped on it.
What is wrong with decoration? You want to live in a dump?
@@thornil2231 nothing wrong with making things look good. But when we've been complaining for years about other things they refuse to address and fail to stay on budget with other projects they start but fail to finish; that's a problem. And we don't get to vote on the splosts or how it's spent.
That's not why they're putting them in. The real reason is quite disturbing.

They are growing in Cincinnati and neighboring suburbs. I dislike them because I get confused about which way to go, but they do cause people to slow down.
I am sure you get confused a lot...
Round abouts are STUPID!
Why?
As cities get bigger, traffic needs to change with it.
Roundabouts are amazing and efficient!
Makes for a great Dukes of Hazards scene when the drunk drivers hit them straight on at 60 mph. The traffic engineers that approve these things are not very smart.
They’re safer. They’re more fuel efficient. Traffic flow is better. They look better. They don’t cost money to run.

its called a Diverging diamond interchange.
I can see a lot of people who think Roundabouts are great have never spent time with firefighters, DOT employees and cops.
They ARE good for slowing down impacts, but are NOT good at reducing the number of them.
Roundabouts are sideswipe and roadrage magnets littered with body panel shrapnel.
Depends on the implementation, but oftentimes roundabouts do lower the amount of collisions with both pedestrians and cars while also reducing the severity of crashes.
