Years ago, about 2000, we saw the 614 locomotive out of hoboken doing run bys for us at full speed. 5 feet away from the track and the ground still shook, eliciting power and majesty. Sorry this #60 steam engine pulling 2 cars at bicycle speeds gives none of us a sense of the power, majesty, and beauty running big steam. Sad, very sad. The video was nicely done, but whole generations will have no appreciation for the steam era...with these steam runs. And we realize the northeast corridor will likely never see big steam run again due to insurance and bridges rails conditions
This was a shuttle train. 2 cars on the steam set, 2 on the diesel for an event. Back in April we did a photo charter and she put on a good show. Steam is rare to come by and any operational engine is quite a sight to behold.
614 is out of service at the C&O heritage center in Clifton Forge, Virginia. Should have stayed at Port Clinton where at least it would have had an excursion friendly railroad to run on. Andy Muller loves steam and excursion trains. 2102 is running again. I think NJT sort of became sour toward steam after 614's runs and 142's runs on NJT branches, now it's at Phillipsburg, NJ pulling train rides south towards Riegelsville on BR&W owned track. I wonder though if NJT will allow Steamtown excursions to run into NJ once the cutoff is rebuilt? Steamtown is currently using diesels on it's mainline excursions until the B&M 3713 is rebuilt. There aren't really any mainline railroads in NJ now that will allow steam excursions. You have to go to the Reading and Northern for a mainline steam experience right now.
Man that whistle is just 👌👌👌
Love that little train, found myself on the train too!

It’s a short line not the northeast corridor or the main line.
Bro, who asked?
