I have a VW Manual that says to use nut on the inside of the door. This gives a lot more threads, as that upper hinge takes a lot of abuse. Great teaching, by the way. You made it look easy.
Wow! This is a great video. I have heard how difficult it would be to do those hinges and you just made this totally doable. Great job! Thanks for sharing.
I followed your video when I changed the upper hinge and the work it is OK, I just adjust the door lock. Thanks for your support this is the best in this type of work, regards.
Your video is great and you make look easy, I am going to do the same to my 1964 beetle, can you tell me please the diameter (tick) and long of the screws, thanks.
Yea bud, it turned out to be easier than I thought. Just go slow on the rivets so you don't drill out more than you need to. I used M8 x 1.25 bolts x 25mm long. That's just what I had around and had the tap for. About the same size in imperial would be 5/16" x 18 but I don't know how big the heads are on those.

Thanks! I was scared to do it myself but finally had to just dig in. Just take it slow and don't go nuts with the drill :)

Nice work. Good idea on tapping inside the door too. Gave you a couple more threads.
Some people have no taste :)
Thanks man! Been working fine on mine for almost two years now.
I was thinking the same thing about tapping the hinges. Glad I found your video. Thank you sir! 👍

@@fastymcroadhammer2978 I am glad to receive your answer, I appreciate your support, thank you very much.
Did you replace the lower hinge?
I only did the upper but I can't imagine the lower would be much different.
Sorry I couldn't hear what you said. Did you use m8 srews. Cheers Paul.
Yes I did, M8 x 1.25
Thanks. My hinges are toast so I need to change them.
@@nogger1956 Sometimes you can change just the pin. I tried everything and couldn't get my pin out and that's why I changed the whole hinge.
👍
Thanks!
