      You can start slapping now... we all know how the Oscars work.
      Independent movies like these will never get a nomination.... and since when did a Sci Fi fillm ever get a nomination?
      I bet the Best Picture nominees will always have those other cliches.

    • @jeremyarenas6627
      @jeremyarenas6627 2 года назад +13

      @@saturn2fire i've seen how the Oscars work and I see this having the same trajectory as Moonlight and even Parasite. An indie darling with a non-white cast that everyone will root for as an underdog and ends up winning multiple awards. The Academy loves that narrative. Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan have career narratives that will help their case in securing noms and hopefully...wins. This movie is too widely loved for the Academy to ignore especially with its box office being impressive as it is every week. I think a lot of ppl will be advocating for this movie once awards season comes.

    one of the BEST mindbending equal parts hilarious/tearful/eventful & packed with action films that i've seen in SO long. the more research i've done on the film, the greater it gets. mind you it was only a team of 5 people that worked on special effects in this larger than life film - amongst the other BRILLIANT editing/creative/acting tricks this entire crew came up with to deliver this film

    She was right . In all of her action movies , she was always playing the sophisticated , graceful and elegant one . But this one's completely different . It gave a new flavor to Michelle's martial arts acting . This movie is the best among all the fantasy-action movies we've had in these decades .

But, I can't remember the last time I saw a movie that has everything done to such a high level. So many awesome things merged together into something truly spectacular. And the acting was definitely one of these things. Everyone was awesome!

    • @jonathanpatch5281

      The Matrix? A story about a guy living a humdrum existence who's visited by beings from another world who inform him that he's the chosen one, and that from now on his conflicts will be contested via the visually arresting medium of Kung Fu Fightiiiiiing!? I guess I can see the parallel.
      I'd also throw in a dash of:
      Rick and Morty -- Not just for the "wacky multi-verse shenanigans against the backdrop of traditional family dysfunction" vibe, but also for psychology of Jobu Tupacki (sp?), the Rick Sanchez of this particular multi-verse. (See, this is only one of many possible multi-verses.) One thing I worried about a bit about the movie is that Jobu Tupacki might be a bit underdeveloped for those not properly pre-steeped in Rick and Morty lore.
      Monty Python -- Pretty much just for sheer aggressive goofiness. The googly eyes. The hot dog fingers. The...Racacoonie of it all.

    I love Michelle Yeoh. Let's get that out of the way. I also love science fiction, especially the mind-bending type. I love comedy. I love satire. I love action movies, especially the ones featuring Chinese martial arts. So I was prepared to love this movie. I wanted to love it. I read the reviews. So many of them were beyond glowing. Many viewers actually said that it was the best film they had ever seen in their entire lives. I've watched the movie now. It was made with honest intent. The acting was quite good. But, overall I have to say this. Disguised under all the comedy, the clever and original fighting, the multiverse plot, the "verse jumping" which was heavily stolen from the Matrix films, this was, to me, just a woke movie. This movie had a lot to say. But the loudest message was this: It's okay for your daughter to be gay. Personally, most gay people I know are cool, and their sexual preference has nothing to me. It's just not my business. But I don't enjoy watching "message" movies of any kind. I don't pay to go into theaters to be preached to. This was, sadly, a message movie telling me to be cool with gay people.. I didn't need that. I didn't enjoy the movie.

    • @Vendrix86
      @Vendrix86 2 года назад

      Really bizarre that's the one thing you took away from this movie. Truly strange. The daughter being gay was just one shard of the many different shards that made up the movie but for some reason it's a gigantic shard for you.
      And what the hell are you talking about the "verse jumping" was heavily stolen from the Matrix films? The Matrix is made up of the real dystopian world and the fake digital world created by the machines. That's it. You don't even know what a multiverse is. A multi-verse means multiple universes. This has been done before with shows like Sliders and what Dr Strange should've been but failed miserably at. No one "owns" the multiverse concept especially when it's been talked about by scientists for years.
      You don't even know how to criticize a movie properly. I don't care that you're a bigoted idiot, to each his own. But at least know wtf you're talking about.

    • @Starinthesky826
      @Starinthesky826 2 года назад +1

      The Daniel's have gone on recording saying they are huge fans of The Matrix and the similarities are intentional. BUT in the context of the story, the daughter being gay, was something Evelyn and Gong Gong, the grandfather, were very traditional. They weren't raised to accept a gay daughter, per their traditional/cultural up bringing. It was part of the characters emotional journey, learing to embrace their daughter/granddaughter just as she was.
