Lemistio Yeah but the text is way off. "The reason you wanted him to wear a pink hoodie is because you think he looks hot in it." "Shut up Alex" Or "How do you eat through that mask anyway?" All of those lines are a little to uncharacteristic. Jacket sating its a weird for him to talk since he doesn't normally talk, when in reality Jacket does talk just not with us seeing.
Zombie_1337 I get the idea of people wanting characters like The Fans and Jacket living in the end, but it just doesn't fit with the way Hotline Miami's story is told. Its obvious from the very beginning of the game that there are no "happy" endings. Every character (no matter who they are) will face death and its up to Richard to warn them. In the end all characters seemingly ignore Richard's warnings and end up facing the consequences.
This campaign is an alternate ending to Hotline Miami 2 and is 80% dialogue. This one is for those of us who wanted an "everyone important survives" option at the end of the game.
Richard was amazingly done, I liked how you handled all of the characters really well! i need a part two where they get fed up with the general and go to DC to kill him themselves ;^)
HEIST: Jacket Breakout Pay: Starts at 1 million on Normal. Increases by 500,000 with every difficulty. Details: Just Hoxton Breakout but Hoxton is Jacket
It's a really well put together campaign, but the story wasn't for me. I really like how Dennaton portrayed the Fans in HM2. They were these reckless kids, who idolised Jacket for his actions not his motivations, and were just emulating him. They bit off more than they could chew, and their lack of a plan got them ultimately killed. It's sad, but it goes to show, you need to plan these things!
Okay, only one problem with this campaign, Alex mentions at around 4:00 that a guy in a pig mask slaughtering cops led to the precinct being understaffed, but Final Cut wasn't real, it was a shoot for the movie Midnight Animal.
Its actually implied that Martin may actually be preforming all these killing sprees in real life. Think about it. Why is it that when you beat the level, it is the only time where you can see camera men? Even Richard comments on Martin's killing sprees making them seem much more real then they are supposed to be. Its like how with Pardo, there is a scene where in a brief second, camera men can be seen filming Pardo at a crime scene.
I have thought about what you're saying, but the only times camera men are seen is when a character is having hallucinations. Pardo is secretly the Miami Mutilator, correct? So when he sees crime scenes he's responsible for, his brain bends the truth and he sees only what he believes. Final Cut is just the guy acting out his perverse fantasies while he's being filmed, so it's natural for him to bend the truth in his own mind of what's going on. That's the whole point of the level.
You had a good thought process about it, and had I not also looked into it a little bit too hard, I would've agreed with you. But, Final Cut is not a real massacre, end of story, as well as Pardo doesn't shoot up a police station in Caught, and never truly sees camera crews, because they are a figment of Pardo's imagination. The only REAL camera crews in the entire game are the ones seen at the end of Midnight Animal and Final Cut, when Martin is actually just an actor shooting a movie on a set.
I know I'm a year late, but... I'll have to side with Mike, Pardo is going crazy and when he gets bombed with everybody else, he's trying to figure out, if he is actually killing everyone, or that's not him, but Martin in my oppinion wasn't on a set, he just reached a mental condition where he couldn't determine what's real and what is not: when he gets busted the cop tells him multiple times that the phone is not there, and it's only Martins imagination. Oh and also Richard says something along the lines of: "Movie, huh?" pointing towards the fact that it's not a movie Edit: I'm so wrong on this topic, no words can describe it. Pardo knows he killed people, he's waiting for the police to kick his door down when he gets killed
honestly, not bad for a jacket breakout. my main complaints are the fact that jacket talks, which i understand can be hard to write him interacting with multiple characters and remaining silent. other than that not bad at all for an alternate ending. hope to see more from the author.
+Yoy Hue I think he nailed the Driver-ish lack of social skills and the whole "normal guy by day, "criminal" by night" thing quite well. He has two other campaigns I still need to check out, you can find them here: www.reddit.com/r/hotlinemiamimaps/search?q=author%3AYossarianAssyrian&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all
Nevermind, I've found the other two part(Ozymandyas and Born Again), that are even better than this, you sir did a MASTERPIECE, I'm gonna consider your work the canon ending/storyline (there will be never a HM3 so no problem/inconsistency XD) and i will reccomend it to everyone who plays HM
If after the rewind of the fake out Hotline Miami 3 this campaign played, I'd probably have to put everything I have on this being the best game ever. There should definitely be one more part to finish off the series, but I think some of the destroyed nuclear landscapes should be shown maybe as the fans travel with Jacket through an area that had been blasted already, even if it's only the outskirts. Something to realize the scale of destruction that the general caused in just seconds due to his actions. Beautiful, really.
this is fantastic.. its a work of art man... i believe THIS is how Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number should of ended. it explains alot more. and leaves the player with a much more satisfied feeling in the end. instead of everyone getting killed and the son walks off the roof to his death. the original ending is shit in my opinion. this ending is how it actually should of been. Perfect.. 10/10
+Michael Lewis Wrong Number ended that way because, in my opinion, is a way to teach that everything will die someday. I like the ending from Wrong Number, because it showed that everything we did all that blood we shed,, actually didn't matter. The mob war, the vigilantes, Jacket. Everything didn't have any importance, because what was coming (the nuke) wasn't in their power and they didn't have any chance of stopping it or knowing about it before it happen. This is my opinion about why Wrong Number ended that way.
_MikeVsWorld _ I think this is a fun "what if" scenario and ending but I don't think it is better than the original ending. The original ending was depressing but it fit the series well. It shows that the characters we play as are still mortals. This ending portrays the characters as being pretty much invincible to danger. I also dislike how they make Jacket their "friend". This isn't a fuckin playground where we can all be friends. Jacket didn't break out of prison during the riot in "Release", showing that his fight was over and he was okay with whatever was coming to him. I think that even if the fans had tried to break him out, he would've refused. The creator tried too hard to make a happy ending that they forgot all about the atmosphere of the games.
- JandroEatsWorld - In my oppinion you are right, there is a reason why they ended the game the way it ended, but I also like this one. The part about Jacket is probably true as well, and the fact that the creator of the mod made him talk fucks mith my head...
The story arcs are well written and pretty well within the realm of existing character development, even going further to expand on their interaction and that's a huge plus for me :D Only downside in my opinion is the same with all custom levels I've seen, giant combo whoring and systematic destruction... They're easy. They're satisfying to watch, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't play it for the challenge that fit so seamlessly into the prepackaged game.
They couldn't have found Henchman's body. Son called him the night of both their deaths. Aside from that, I dig the alternative ending of this campaign.
Old Future Fox Gang - Chicks is Cool: ruclips.net/video/26Vzo0WLY1w/видео.html Street Fever - Severance: soundcloud.com/streetfever/severance-1 Gesaffelstein - Viol: ruclips.net/video/CIpyBeBpC74/видео.html Street Fever - La Corde: soundcloud.com/streetfever/la-corde-1 Consider supporting any and all of the artists mentioned, so that we could get even more great music!
Did the same guy make all of these? It seems like it, since he uses a lot of the same tricks throughout (like the enemies that don't fit in with your character, or the sprites in cutscenes with the general)
there's only inconsistency I noticed that didn't make sense, at the beginning The Son says he found henchmans body, but the fans killed him and Corey took his phone, and he called his phone about the location of his new building, showing he doesnt know of henchmans fate, and then he took the pills, so how did he know that henchman is dead of he never saw the body
this is the ending i wanted than the real ending this would make a good ending for Hotline Miami's the fans instead of the fan on death-wish they survive sun aka the mob boss on drugs
This was good, but I wish it didn't treat the "Martin was a psycho killer who hallucinated film crews" and "the Fans were veterans of Hawaii rather than a bunch of stupid kids" theories as canon.
+Kzinssie (porygonlover322) Well, those are two of the really popular theories (Fans taking part in the Hawaii Crisis even being hinted in the comics IIRC). Personally, I'd prefer Jacket to be just an innocent bystander forced to kill and just kinda getting into it and not a war veteran with an "IMMA AVENGE MUH FRIEND" agenda, but unfortunately that part actually IS canon. Then again, that's what the level editor is there for :)
Are those really just theories? The fan's sprites were in the bar in the first level in Hawaii. And according to the comics Martin was a psychopath who used the movie Midnight Animal to fulfill his fantasies without actually killing people. So he was crazy, but I agree with the idea that he didn't just hallucinate Richard, because Richard visits everyone that was affected by Jacket's killings.
Hotline Miami trades heavily in symbolism. The Fans' sprites appearing in the bar don't necessarily indicate they were actually there, they could also mean that the same sort of impulsive, psychopathic kids as the Fans were in Hawaii. (In my opinion, having them as veterans undermines their whole arc). Also, who the hell knows how canon the comics are
TheSwedishGuyWhoMadeThisLongNameForNoReasonWithCaps The sprites are so low-res that they could just resemble them. HLM is a very symbolic series - the violent teenagers you're already acquainted with (or at least people resembling them) appearing during the Beard war sequences is more of an imagery thing I think.
+Danny Judas Yeah, Street Fever is great for the darker characters (Son, Pig Butcher, Evil Evan, sometimes Pardo). As for the level design, it was pretty simple, but it's more of a campaign about Brandon's lucky varsity jacket and Corey having the hots for Jacket and less of a gameplay-oriented one, so it was not that big of a deal. Nice covers btw :)
I dunno, it's a cute fanfiction with well-made levels, but all the characters act off. Son wouldn't be as playful, the fans wouldn't devolve into insecure teenagers, Jacket wouldn't act so shily or even accept rescue. If he wanted, he could have gotten out during Release, but he chose not to.
I can't be the only guy here who thinks this campaign was written like a fanfiction right? Honestly I won't be surprised if it was originally a fanfic lol.
Wow, one pill could made such a difference
I love this alternate ending!
It doesn't feel right. This game having a happy ending isn't right...
It's good to have an alternative. Besides, whole game isn't right xD
