If someone is considering this tool then the price doesn’t matter. It’s likely a large construction company that will be buying these. Milwaukee is geared towards professionals and large company’s with large budgets.

@@johnargumaniz9179EXACTLY! Thank you for stating what I thought was so obvious. So many people in these comments seem to think that because THEY can’t think of a reason this would be useful or worth it, then nobody else can either. I don’t have time or feel the need to explain those situations but I will say, one of the biggest users of something like this would be Mill Wright work. Or for doing lifts in places where there is no power nearby and this would be easier than bringing a big generator and gasoline with you. This is more geared toward industrial/commercial work. I could definitely see some construction uses as well.

I work in the AV industry where these are used in the dozens, if not hundreds at a time. This price point is about average if not lower than what you would expect to pay. If it weren’t for the bright red color I’d get these in a heart beat.

These are the type of machine that stays in one place for longer period and also you need to set it up anyways if you move it so electric hoist is the best option..

I would use this in my work bus, make a rail to slide it out and use to load heavy stuff alone

@@jaival_rhaine agreed for permanent locations, this is geared more to installers or temp situations

You really don’t understand how big their world is do you? Or how many different jobs there really are? Do you know what really makes this world go around? In the big manufacturing plants there are LOTS of motors, gearboxes, pumps and other types of equipment keeping those plants running. And guess what?? Those things break sometimes!!! Can you believe it?? And 95% of those things don’t have hoisting over them. So guess what has to happen!??? A temporary set up is needed to remove them!!! Crazy huh!!?? That’s just one of MANY examples this can be used. Just because this may not make sense for the work you do, or for what you have seen done, doesn’t mean there isn’t a great use for it somewhere else.

Looks cool and good demonstration from the rep. But definitely a niche product and pricey

That hoist is manufactured by CM (Columbus McKinnon hoist company) CM BatteryStar Hoist utilizing the Milwaukee M18 battery.... So CM is making the hoist also as a private label for Milwaukee. The price that Milwaukee has given at $3,900 is way way too expensive for a 1 ton hoist. You can buy a CM 1 ton single phase 115 v hoist for far less and not worry about a battery.

There are uses for this. It’s more of a light, convenience thing. You may not know this…. But whatever you do for a living or do in your life with your tools or even what you see tools being used for…. Isn’t the only way they’re used. There are jobs out here where things need lifted and there is no power out there. This is a fix to that issue and no big ass generator and gas is needed. It’s also extremely light and mobile. So for some type of work such as Mill Wright work, this could be really useful. It can be quickly set up, and taken down and no need to find an extension cord or run one 100 feet. Rememeber, the world is a BIG place. There’s a lot more going on behind the scenes than you may know.

If you are needing a hoist in a standard situation where you aren’t going to removing it and setting it back up somewhere else very often, then sure go with the standard electric hoist. But this ain’t for those situations…. Obviously.
