Thank you for posting Richard. A wonderful evocation of time and place. So many lovely images esp by Sir John Lavery. He must have been a frequent visitor!
This lovely little video is full of harmony - the harmony of Delius's lovely music, the harmonious use of colour and form in these beautiful paintings and the way the music and image complement each other in complete harmony, with never a jarring note.
Who knew?! As an ordinary Joe Blow, I thought I was at least aware of most of the geographical haunts of the Impressionist era artists. But thanks to Richard Lewis, I have been introduced to another village that attracted so many painters, photographers and composer, Delius. Now I have to add Grez to my bucket list and I'm off to Google to find where it is in France.
Lovely selection. It doesn't include my favourite painting of the bridge, The Bridge at Grez-sur-Loing by Roderick O Connor. Currently on loan to the National Gallery of Ireland, and definitely worth a trip to the NG if you're in Dublin
This piece sounds like the evocations that we are used to hear under Delius' pen: non fonctional or specific chain of harmonies, typical long and seamless melodies, delicate orchestration, a touch of melancholy in a bucolic universe......... ........
Thank you so much, Richard. Always been a big Delius fan..the old bugger.. Didn`t know so much about the painters. Thank you for putting together this labour of love.
I don't agree. There is an inner tone of sadness and yearning in almost every work by Delius. It's true that Nature and her many revelations of beauty are a constant source of consolation and serenity but it's that peculiar , highly poetic, melange of emotions that makes Delius' music so unique.
Yes there is a sadness in a lot of Delius's music. It has been attributed to some sad events in his life. There is a fascinating video on this subject which can be found on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/0RocX8MvqcE/видео.html
A wonderful selection of images to go with this beautiful music.
The perfect representation of a warm summer afternoon
All his music is to lovely for me a mere mortal, my eyes fill with tears and I am in bliss!!!!.
très romantique, lieu inspirateur
More magic from a master of musical impressionism. Much appreciated.
Beautiful. Lovely choice of paintings
This music by Delius and these great paintings seem to have been meant for each other. Thanks!
A moving combination of art and music by a true poet of music.....Thanks for this!
Perhaps the best way to really relax and be enveloped into complete bliss.
so gorgeous!

Great views of Europe countrysides!!!

Exquisite music, exquisite art!
Love the paintings!
ravishingly melancholic
Indeed! Great choice of words.

Sensual evocation of nature. Cinematic.❤
Maravilhosa música! Nós reporta a mundos e esferas da Criação, onde movimento e harmonia são as fontes de trabalho dos Enteais!!
I love it!
This is music typical of Delius. Tonal, with non -fonctional chords. Very nice and soft, without few break-offs.

What a great overture the Idyll would have made for Gone with the Wind, also I hear strong pre echoes of Gershwin. Ian
You're right, Ian. It would match very nicely with Gone with the Wind.
Nothing like the UK!!
Delius' works truiy merit inclusion in today's symphony concerts , instead of the overly familiar bill of fare .
Paul Beard Ikr? I can’t believe I just discovered his work today.
His music makes me feeling sad.
It should make you feel relaxed and peaceful. If you feel sad, there are anotherr issues in your life.

There is an undercurrent of sadness in all of his works. Still beautiful though.
