Nepo came really close to 2800, but he's most likely past his prime, and I doubt that he'll have another opportunity to get into the club. Ditto for people like Radjabov or Anish who also got super close, but I don't see them getting back to the top, with a small doubt for Anish just because he's slightly younger, but not by much
For the last 4 years or so, Ian has only put his absolute best in the candidates and in the title matches. He won 2 candidates and narrowly lost the last one to Gukesh. Maxime crossing 2800 and Ian not is just a matter of rating inflation. Not that Maxime is better than Ian. While both are excellent super grandmasters... It is sad to see the old generation is phasing out gradually. Ian, Maxime, Shahriyar, Anish, Ding, Wesley, Teimur, Alexander, Levon, etc. Stepping out of the scene... They will remain in top 100 as strong players like Vassily Ivanchuk and Alexei Shirov but they won't be able to pose a threat to the absolute beasts of young generation like Gukesh, Arjun, Pragg, Alireza, Nodirbek, Vincent, etc. I can't understand how Magnus, Fabiano and occasionally Hikaru can still cope with the young generation.
Nepo plays too fast.MVL can show somewhat of a leash over himself in classical, but Nepo is pure speed and he misses a lot of deep lines due to these instinctive plays.Yes it might put a psychological impact upon opponents, but when facing the likes of Magnus who are literally unfazed,he fails miserably
Thanks for including the eval bar, because it really cements my opinion that it's an annoying distraction from the analysis. Glad you keep it off during your regular videos.
Beautiful moves by white... Finding moves that force your opponents pieces to contribute to the attack... Black's pieces were "stumbling" over each other! A good game to remind us to play "flexibly"... When the position becomes "cramped", for black , try to force trades... If you can... ^^ Great play by white :)
I like the eval bar, to me it enhances your analysis. It is providing us more information. I’m not sure why others don’t like it. It would be nice if there was a way it could be hidden but if you turn your phone or maximize your window on the video it will show.
Hi! Long time subscriber here. Thank you for this game. If you are taking feedback on the current viewing screen format please accept my constructive criticism. I don't care for it much and prefer the old format by a great deal. The player's pictures are too small and I can't make out their FIDE ranking at all. Please try again if you are looking for a fresh look. All the best to you!
This game actually follows Baklan - Volzhin (2001) up to 17. ... cxd5. However in that game, Baklan follows up with 18. Qxd5, resulting in a draw, instead of 18. Rxb5.
The Petrov has a drawish reputation; however, it offers attacking opportunities for both sides, and a few lines are quite sharp. WELL, THIS ONE WAS THE SHARPEST 😇 Thank you MVL. Thank you Antonio.
Agadamator I was literally just about to say i didn’t like this layout and you immediately reassured us in the first 30 seconds that it wouldn’t happen often. Thanks alot
A game that could be played in the old era by Morphy or Anderson in the Cafe de la Regence. A masterpiece nor enough congratulated in honor of MVL one of the best actual players in the last months
Hello. Love your games. Is it possible to put them back in the "chess daily videos" playlist? It makes sure that I don't miss any of your amazing content. Thank you good sir! #suggestion
These uncle moves won him the Gashimov Memorial Tournament less than half an hour before this game started. He had played 14 blitz games back to back and even asked the arbiters to start some of his games earlier in order to return to the hotel and be in time to play vs MVL. He was exhausted.
In my headcanon, MVL receives a Morphy Head for this game.
This game belongs in Agadmator's sorcery series.
It's MVL Immortal one!
That brutal last move where MVL turns down Nepo's queen sac, like damn.
A game that happened literally a minute ago...
Agad always does this... nothing spectacular
@@biscuitdon-r5oI see what u did there

One day Agadmator will just upload a game before it's even played
Absolutely stunning! Man oh man it would be hard not to smile even on the losing side of this! My gosh!
Where is the Murphy head?????????
Exactly my thoughts
Morphy
Haven't seen a Morphy head in quite some time.
the eddie murphy head
Where that attack comes from !!
Seemingly from nowhere 😮
Enjoyed that no end. Thanks!
Any time the engine bar goes monochrome, you know someone's in trouble!
MVL is a real tactic monster
WOW! Bravo, MVL! Awesome!
Bro didn't even bother to capture the queen with knight at the end 💀
La Grave 🪦
La pierre tombale
MVL brilliancy in the Petrov defense. WOW
Sponsored by 2 question mark moves in a row
It's somewhat sad that Nepo isn't a member of the 2800+ club yet, but this is another example why MVL is one member. Incredibe.

Nepo had live rating of 2799.6. Or maybe it even was his actual rating. Very unlucky.
@@d4slaimlessLol at that point Fide should’ve just rounded it up 😂

"if you're one of those people" 😂
I actually really like this format. Seeing the evaluation bar is nice
MVL full guns blazing!!!
Brooooooo! Re8 is siiick
Maxime Vachier Lagrave is the coldest name in the history of mankind.
But you can call him Guss🎉
why ?
In french it means Maxime 'go shit over there, seriously'
And I'm not even joking
Va chier - go shit
La - over there
Grave - serious
@johnduncan5117 true! or "the drover from the rocks" if you want less fun.😊
I love hearing Antonio giggle when talking about a chess position that's absurdly brilliant, shows how much chess means to him
Fischer-like moves !!
Agad really deserves an award for his page and dedication to chess analysis.
This was one of the most beautiful attacking manoeuvres I've seen in recent times (!!)
This game was really well prepared way in advance. I've tried some analysis for black to take but dololo! ❤
Thanks for including the eval bar, because it really cements my opinion that it's an annoying distraction from the analysis. Glad you keep it off during your regular videos.
Brilliant stuff by MVL!!!
MVL immortal game should be the title.
Top game Antonio - thanks for covering it.
Perfect game and nice analysis agadmator!

Great play by white :)

Wow, what a game by Maxime, he has really come along lately, he should be in a candidates tournament soon enough
you can see Ian chatting with MVL on broadcast after that Qg3 move
Morphy Head award!
This looks like a game played by the sorcerer supreme 🥵🔥
There are many sorcerers, but only one sorcerer supreme. We all know who he is.

Best part of the video 😂
"that is a butcher's move" MVL been butchering the poor guy😂

This game is so entertaining
still love the content, one thing.... you just mentioned
that the game was played a few minutes ago, there is no date stamp on youtube
I like this new color theme. This is also my first comment ever on agadmator videos.Been following for years!
This game actually follows Baklan - Volzhin (2001) up to 17. ... cxd5. However in that game, Baklan follows up with 18. Qxd5, resulting in a draw, instead of 18. Rxb5.
I prefer the videos that have depth over the videos that are churned out as quickly as possible. Appreciate the effort tho 🙏
The Petrov has a drawish reputation; however, it offers attacking opportunities for both sides, and a few lines are quite sharp. WELL, THIS ONE WAS THE SHARPEST 😇 Thank you MVL. Thank you Antonio.
After rook e8 Nepo said 'mais va chier la grave !'
Moving the king to g3 instead of taking the queen is even more savage
Wow magical play from MVL might call him the magician now Great Game thanks Agadmator
Hoping your king can run to safety is a strategy that either works, or it doesn't.
Commenting on a video that was published literally a minute ago about a game that was played literally a minute ago
absolutely beautiful
Previous board background was good, it was like your trademark :(
Agadmator, what happend to the sorcery series? This game surely belongs there.
Agadamator I was literally just about to say i didn’t like this layout and you immediately reassured us in the first 30 seconds that it wouldn’t happen often. Thanks alot
Brilliant indeed!
For such games I follow Agodmator ❤❤
insteuctive video, keep it up
the opportunity presented itself....but only brilliant minds can spot it!
I'm guessing the "A" on Medo's forehead stands for "Adorable"...or...?
A game that could be played in the old era by Morphy or Anderson in the Cafe de la Regence. A masterpiece nor enough congratulated in honor of MVL one of the best actual players in the last months
Destroying Nepo in the Petrov is amazing from MVL.
At 1:16 why doesn't White play Bxh7# (and Ng5# and Qxg4)?
What does the A mean in the time code? Looks like it was a rapid game?
When I lift my undefended rook to e8, it’s a blunder. When it’s MVL, it’s a masterpiece 🤷🏻♂️
MVL is actually an artist of chess. I actually thought
nepo was also the same but MVL is insane.
"i like to do other stuff as well" what a chad
At 3:40, what happens if f6 after Ng4?
That was an emotional moment on the French team, let me tell you.
This is not from the olympiads.

Pls stick to the old 0:20
Briliant attack.
What a brilliant game 😮
I'd like to see interview with Mr.Kramnik.
o ow kramnik is making some conclusions about somethings now 👀
...it seems to take you back a hundred of years...
Those rooks are insane
please show the time so we could know the timpe pressure and time spend of every move
brilliant 👏
Why we no get Morphy head anymore? Agad bring it back. It makes me sad its gone.
Even after the explanation, I'm still a bit lost, do grandmasters have some crazy intuition or do they brute force calculate such insanity
Both
What happened to your board?
How did MVL see that attack in a totally equal position , wow😮
Would pawn f6 have worked after white’s Re6?
1:16
Doesn't white have that trick to take on h7 and then get the bishop back with a knight check?
Rook to e8 was the dagger.
Please, #Agadmator, fix the zoom-function on your camera. The zoom is very distracting.
Welcome to a game that will take place in 41 years between Magnus Carlsen and his grandson...
Mr Tal would have found all these and could have sacrificed queen and then checkmate with rook bishop and night.
Great game. The eval bar is distracting.
Nepo literally playing Uncle Moves Only.

That was awesome
What was that Rook e8...omg.
How do you even find these stuff in a 10 min game? Insane
MVL Immortal game !!!
I wish the players would play out the end for all to see (not the meaningless checks tho) instead of resigning before the coup de grace
A blitz attack from MVL
