Each month of the year has its respective full moon and the one corresponding to the month of October of this 2022 can be seen on Sunday, October 9, which is known as the Hunter's Moon, although it is also called by other names.
Why is it called the Hunter's Moon?
The full moon in September is known as the Harvest Moon, so the one after it, in October, is called the Hunter's Moon. According to the Farmer's Almanac, with the leaves falling and the deer fattening, it's time to hunt. Also, since the harvesters have cleared the fields, the hunters can more easily see the animals that have gone out to glean and hunt them for winter provisions.
Other names by which the Hunter's Moon is known include Travel Moon or Blood Moon.
The Full Moon of the Hunter is special because it is the first of autumn in the northern hemisphere, the predecessor of shorter and colder days.
The Full Harvest or Hunter Moon opens the doors to autumn in the northern hemisphere. Its placement in the zodiac sign of Aries portends enthusiasm and new beginnings. For the signs of Fire, the need to work on containment and recollection will arise.
Hunter's Moon Meaning:
The visible face of the Moon will be completely illuminated by the Sun. Its halo of light revitalizes the cultivated lands. Its presence is synonymous with creation.
