I like how Itachi "baptizes" Sasuke by completely effing up his Level 2 form and then exorcising Orochimaru from him. It makes Orochimaru seem more like the Devil, and its a nice symbol that Sasuke's direction in life has fully changed.
If you think about it, in that moment the whole Sasuke's backstory was "baptized" so to speak
By that point Sasuke wanted to kill his brother who was a genocidal serial killer who just told him that the only possible way someone from his family could get stronger is through hatred and killing the ones they love to awaken their power, like a Freedy Krueger kind of villain, but he refused to accept that so he sought for the help of the series "Devil" who had a whole terrorist-paedophile undertone going on with his desire to literaly steal Sasuke's body and destroy the village he grew up in, so he got the Curse Mark who itself represented the "666" symbol meaning he had sold his soul and to achieve the second state he had to "die" in order for it to spread just like how demonic possession involves someone first "dying" and then the demon fully getting control of the body
Then with Itachi sealing both Orochimaru and the Curse Mark instead of stealing Sasuke's eyes like he said he would, dying touching Sasuke's forehead in a act of love and then his whole backstory being revealed that he was a loving brother who only wanted to protect Sasuke and the village by stopping the uchiha coup through any means necessary and then joining the akatsuki to spy on them as he put the facade of the hated murderer Sasuke thought he was
The curse mark itself was revealed to be a perversion of the Sage Mode, a state of oneness with nature that Naruto would later achieve
So the tone shifted from a horror movie to a political tragedy about one's own legacy, resentment and quest for peace

Orochimaru knew how to use Sage Mode just fine, it was just that his current body he was inhabiting couldnt handle it. That was one of the reasons he invented the curse marks was a way to try and circumvent that problem.

Looking back at these videos makes me realize how much of the story line Bortuo recycles from Naruto, but "changes it up" a bit to fit a new storyline. If you think about it, the curse mark was the original Karma in many ways.

Curse Marks are a wanna be Sage.
Sage Mode tends to have very little negative effects once mastered. It also gives the user extreme sensing capabilities as shown by Madara. While the curse mark tends to guarantee death.
Overall Sage Mode is one of the most powerful power-ups in the show.
Also I watched the Kaguya fight again and concluded that Sakura with very little Chakra could barely move in less than 48x Earth's gravity compared to Vegeta and Goku's ability to withstand atleast over 2.5 millions times Earth's gravity using SSJG with Cell Saga strength.

The curse mark is basically Oro's sage chakra stored in someone else. Oro could've used sage mode, but the problem was that the body he was in at the time couldn't handle the physical demands of sage mode; Kabuto explains this during his fight with Itachi and Sasuke.

skrapyard• I think Jiraiya was stronger than him but by a very small margin. Even Kisame and Itachi fleed at the sight of him and he wasn't in his prime. Also, Jiraiya would've destroyed Pain if he had a little more time deliberate on his abilities, but taking down three is a feat I think Orochimaru could've never done. That being said Orochimaru is still a badass.
It depends on how you choose on define Sannin, they got it simply because the three of them fought Hanzo and survived, so they're equal at that point, but after they grow in their own ways. i can place Orochimaru in third simply because he's the only one who didn't master a Sage mode.
But if you rank them in other ways say longevity, he can still come in last considering Tsunade successfully maintains her useful appearance due to her 1000 body healing etc while orochimaru had to constantly switch bodies, but he comes out on top if you consider his psuedo-imortality. But besides that orocohimaru is my favorite out of the other ones as well

Their dad's were twin brothers, but as Hinata's father was technically born first, he became the patriarch and Neji's dad went to the branch family receiving the curse mark. What I've never understood is that with Sage mode you have to balance the intake of nature energy properly or you're at risk of turning into stone. But this doesn't seem to ever be a problem with the curse mark, is that an inherent ability of the curse mark/Jugo's clan? It's bothered me since I found out about the curse mark using nature energy.
They seem to be able to just keep gaining power through it, but someone using Sage mode has to maintain extreme control.

The cures mark does not give a ten times boost it simply a set increase in power which does not increase with it’s user the only power up that is multiplying your power are each of the eight gates.

Tigo2g Well Yin/Yang release techniques are simply jutsu that aren't categorized into the mainstream elemental releases(fire style, water style, wind, etc). Yang release focuses on performing techniques using physical/pre-exisisting material. The best example for that would Naruto's kyubi chakra mode or Akamichi clans body transformation techniques. Yin release conversly focuses on producing things with spiritual energy. The best example for this would be something like the reaper death seal or shadow possesion where you're able to produce shadows out of nothing. So essentially, any ninjutsu that doesn't have an elemental release is usually either Yin/Yang release...

Curse mark: uses chakra and you don’t need to train/perfect it to use it, also not everyone can get a curse mark, as I remember only Orochimaru can give this curse mark that is similar to sage arts.
Sage mode: just like curse marks, it boosts ur abilities, used natural energy, not everyone can master/perfect it, only those born with a great amount of natural energy can master it, and it’s sooo hard to learn, even jiraiya didn’t perfect it.
In conclusion, their abilities are the same.
