I really wish tim Burton hadn't said those racist things though. I love his movies but I can't shake what he said. For everyone assuming I'm okay with forced inclusion, many of Tim's characters are fictional. Why is it so hard to make a semi diverse cast of fictional characters? That's all I'm asking. Making a previously white or previously black character any other race than they originally were is weird and is definitely forced inclusion. Creating a character for the soul purpose of having inclusion is also forced inclusion. Making a character with no other characteristics than their gender or race is also forced inclusion and I'm not okay with that. But just creating a character that happens to be Indian or Jamaican or anything other than European is NOT forced inclusion and should not be regarded as such. Y'all need to stop forcing a narrative onto my words and calm down. I'm not one of those toxic "make more black characters or gay characters" type of person. I'm just as annoyed with that as well. I just want movies to reflect real life. That's all anyone should really want. It's not that deep.

Ms Jenna Ortega is the new 'Horror Queen' of this generation. I happened to be convinced by her acting performance in X, so it's safe to say that she won't disappoint as Ms Wednesday Addams.
i know im so excited, she was also really good in scream but those roles were sad/distressful version of her acting im excited to see how she pulls off the silent deadly aspect of Wednesday, she really is a talented actress and im excited to see all the amazing roles she plays in

Only Ricci can pull-off that most iconic performance, but Ortega is the best choice for casting in the new series.
I first saw her in that Disney show “Stuck in the Middle” and didn’t think much, then I heard she was cast in the Babysitter sequel, and I wasn’t sure how that would go…but I was shocked. I immediately wanted to see what else she could do. She’s really talented. I think the best role she’s done was in this movie about a school shooting and the aftermath (can’t remember the name, it’s on HBO Max). She was genuinely hilarious and nailed the drama.
I was terrified of the idea of a remake but it being directed by Tim Burton gives me hope

Melissa Hunter deserves to have her show licensed properly so she can finally continue it after all this time. It was so well done and she’s the only person I could ever possibly imagine to play as an older Wednesday Addams. We shall see if this lives remotely up to her version. If not, then I’m probably not watching this show all the way through.

Props to Melissa Hunter who payed homage to this character years ago. She did a comedy web series called Adult Wednesday Addams and was issued a cease and dissist order. They should've run with the idea back then when Christina Ricci was older but young enough to reprise the roll. No disrespect to this actress, I'm interested to see the series, it just should've been done years ago.
I used to love to watch Adult Wednesday and was mad that they made Melissa stop. Christina Ricci would have killed as a early 20's aged Wednesday. What a missed opportunity. Hope Tim does Wednesday Addams justice.

@@user-ir8mf7km6w It still wouldn't be one. It only borrows well-known elements that defined the Addams Family throughout it's many interpretations, such as the finger snapping.
It follows a completely different story from the original, it has redefined characters unlike the original, and it's overall genre, or setting and feel, is different from it's predecessors. Thus my belief of this being a new interpretation (or at the very least a reboot of previous media).

Lisa was pretty good as part of the tongue and cheek era of the Addams Family. But I said the same thing about Emma Stone playing Cruella and she did great. I’m keeping an open mind but I just hope they don’t screw up. 🤞

Addams family were never really about the horror though. Creepy, mysterious spooky but not scary
Except for original version of the show, Wednesday has always been exceptionally cast. C. Ricci and C. Moretz both brought life to a character that outshines everyone on the cast except for the person playing Morticia who is equaled. (never saw AF Reunion). I also loved the Adult Wednesday Addams RUclips episodes with M. Hunter. Can't wait to see how this version plays out.
Lisa Loring will always be the og in my opinion she is the best
Lisa Loring was good in the role, for a child actress, but never got much screen time. I like to believe this was because the original Adam's family seemed to respect their child actors enough that they did not overwork them. Probably also why they are the only child actors from the era, other than Todd Howard, who I don't remember becoming train wrecks in later life.
Though Todd Howard did father that Rebel Alley girl, who a friend of mine, who worked at Google, driving an ostrich, told me he thought were dating.
@@Mullratte She was good for her age, no doubt about it. but she was a playing a young child and had limited screen time. IMO, C. Jones was the real star of the 60s show with J. Astin as one of the best supporting leads/co-stars I have seen. They had a great on-screen dynamic. C. Ricci in Addams Family and AFV redefined Wednesday into the character we know today.

@@thalstantrailwalker2393 You say redefined, but course corrected is more accurate. What I loved about C. Ricci's take is that it brought Wednesday back to her comic strip roots. She played Wednesday the way Charles Addams intended it.
I hope that Melissa Hunter got credit or something from her Adult Wednesday Addams work being so popular and probably inspiring a netflix to fund a series about Wednesday. supes excited for this!

I am a HUGE fan of Tim Burton and have been since I was a wee baby. His movies have always been comfort to me and as an autistic person it’s just great to have an idol on the spectrum I can look up to. I’ve seen all his movies and have watched them millions of times, and he is the reason I will be a director when I grow up, and I also really hope someday I can work with Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, like how Burton got to work with his idol, Vincent Price. I am excited for this show and just cannot wait. Thank you, Tim Burton!

I saw someone mentioned Melissa Hunter's Adult Wednesday, I would've liked to see Melissa at least writing for the show. I think her version of Wednesday was brilliant in showing how she would deal with our world. And is was dying for another season of it.

Can't deny that this looks incredible and I'm super excited. Adams family and it's characters are forever legends
I’m so excited not only to finally see more of Tim Burton’s work but also we get a different take on Wednesday with an interesting story. What I like about Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday is that she’s going to be making it her own interpretation instead of mimicking Christina Ricci’s Wednesday. That calls for originality. Like Jenna said in an interview that Wednesday has already been played to perfection by Christina Ricci so it’s only logical to make the character her own and I think from what’s shown in this first look she’s doing exactly that. Also I want add, make sure to read the synopsis. I think a lot of people are mistaking this series with a fan made series that has nothing to do with this series at all. The story is not even similar.
It’s not that everyone’s mistaking it, it’s just that once the fan made series started gaining more traction they shut it down and with in about a month or two it was leaked that there was talk of creating a wednesday solo show (not necessarily a rip off or anything like that, just a taking the idea of wednesday by herself). while it might not be the same show that was rumored to be in the works at that time it still has people rubbed the wrong way with how they shut it down but then immediately started to try and see how they could profit off it without doing anything with the creator.

That’s understandable but it’s also understandable why it was taken down. Ultimately that person doesn’t own the rights to the ip. And the company that does, have the creative right to do what they want. I guess that’s how it is and I assume that person most likely realized that when she decided to create a spin off series of an ip she doesn’t own.
Unfortunately, copyright laws exist.
But it is unfortunate that it’s been taken down if the person wasn’t profiting off of it of course (that includes Adsense). Perhaps if it was established as a parody or if it was named differently (like Tuesday) then it wouldn’t have been taken down.
I'll admit, having modern Tim Burton tackle this is a bit of a gamble. There's a lot of his recent stuff I just think is straight up bad.
But maybe this will bring back the old Burton. And I love Jenna Ortega and looking forward to her performance. Fingers crossed this show is genuinely good!
