Not saying out of any Bengali sentiment, but this channel is just crazy good. The sheer precision, the detailing, the videography and editing, the knowledge imparted, the BGMs, and ofcourse, the cooking. It's more like a work of art than mere cooking videos. I can only imagine how much effort must be going into this. All the best.
The best part of this recipe is where you teach how to cut the florets. It has always been an enigma. Now I know! Will definitely try and surprise people at home :D
satabdi deb , nice to here from you that your parents are from assam.. and the recipe of banana flower with pigeon is simpe.. I have seen my mother cook it in a very simple way.. - clean the meat(pigeon) and cut into pieces -two medium sized potato(peel and cut into half) - banana flower(discard the outer hard layer and keep the inner part) chop well and put it in water so that it doesn't gets blackened -Chop one big onion, make a paste of ginger and garlic - 2 bay leaves, half a teaspoon cumin,2 dry red chillies, black pepper powder, turmeric and salt.,( regarding garam masala or any spices i haven't seen my mother adding any thing of it,she always keeps it simple with ginger-garlic paste and a bit of jeera powder and black pepper powder..) COOKING METHOD -Heat mustard oil in a wok..(measures difficult to say as mom always puts oil or any masala seeing the quantity of ingredients) -Add cumin seeds, let it splutter and then add bay leaves and dry red chillies, saute well -Add onion slices and saute until golden brown -Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric and stir a bit and let the masala cook,(or say let the raw smell of onions, garlic and ginger fade) -Now add the meat and potatoes together, mix it well or coat it well with the masalas -Fry the meat and potatoes for around 5 minutes in medium high heat.(it may stick to the bottom sometime because of the masalas but try to scrape them) -Now add the banana flower(throw away the water) -Add salt according to your taste -Give it a good mix..let all the ingredients blend well with each other -You can add a little water at a time if it sticks more. -Cover it for two minutes, uncover and then again cover until all the ingredients cook well.(keep stiring at regular intervals) -Now add black pepper powder and switch off the heat -Serve with rice 😊
I have never seen a cooking recipe being explained using flowchart, u drew just how I picture every recepi. I get a sense of 'cleanliness' about your videos. Great work keep it up.
I love mocha... Born and brought up in Kolkata I crave for all these... Luckily no one in my present society wants the plantain flowers... So they give it to me... Love the video.... Thanks and keep up the good work.
Your video remove all the stress from my mind. I just see your video for removing my stress not gathering knowledge because my mom came from Bangladesh and she loves to cook variety of food and I am happy with my mom's food ... Thank you so much for your initiative
Finally I made this the other day! It came out really well. Your tutorial to clean the vegetable was very helpful as I have seen only my grandma making it. The icing on the cake was the vegetable came from our society garden and no o e wanted it!
Exactly the way my mom makes....She always keeps some of the dal er boras separate for me and my sister to have it just like that .... I love both the veg and the non veg versions.... nostalgic recipe 😍
Before marriage i always use to sit with mom for clearing the florets... so much nostalgia... mocha is love !! My mom use to also make pakora of the inside part which u sliced and added in the whole thing.
After seeing this recipe I have started liking mocha sooo much.. And from me my family came to know, they seem to like the mochar paturi recipe more.. So much that My mother only wants to make the paturi recipe 😇😬and after seeing this channel I have started to like and making authentic bengali recipe more, specifically the niramish dishes. Thank you so much. Keep feeding us in you bong way!!
Calyx, pistil ...reminded me of my Botany studying days. 😀 Great video as usual guys.👍🏼💕 Btw, I keep the mocha florets in a bowl of water mixed with a little turmeric powder while the process of removal and cleaning of the florets gets completed . This prevents them from turning blackish .
Wow....that was kinda tutorial....I used to hate making this bcoz of the sticky feeling even after washing hands several times...but you made it a cakewalk now and so many ingredients to make it tasty...phew.....Thank you for this wonderful dish.
I am bengali, but never eat it.Few months back my husband bought it,I didn't know the cooking process. I watched your video,it's so easy but at the same time tasty. Thanks a lot.

But the best part that I love about Bong Eats, being a science student myself, is the scientific approach towards cooking-using scientific terms, using precise measurements and usage of graphs (as in your recipe for panchmishali torkari) and the "train route map"... keep up the good work Dada and Didi !!!
Today only i cooked banana flower sabji...and it just tastes amazing..i love this sabji a lot and i make sure i cook this sabji at least once in 15 days.. My Ma cooks in the same way with Chingri..here I miss your mochar ghonto Ma.."bong eats " you guys are too good.. whenever I watch your videos I feel proud to be a Bangali..
Ajker mission- eta banano. Everytime I used to walk past my neighbourhood Sri Lankan greengrocer here in London, I looked at mocha with so much nostalgia, chotobelar maa'r hater rannar kotha mone hoto, my partner who is a ''so called Bengali'' never had mochar ghonto (can you believe it!) and called this beautiful banana blossom 'rocket' at first sight which made me take up the challenge to make it one day and feed him to make him realise what a Bengali delicacy he has been missing throughout his life. In my 10 years of life in London, I never cooked mochar ghonto (I cook almost all Bengali and other Indian food at home all the time) as I didn't know what part of the mocha I need to throw away and what to keep, now I learnt, thanks to you two. Wish me luck today and hopefully I can make it a delicious Bengali dish and show it to my partner what I have been claiming about mochar ghonto.
Not meaning to take away anything from your excellect recipe, but what I found most fascinating today was the yellow/blue flowchart - so much like a subway map. 😊 I must congratulate you guys on your video editing skills 👍🏼
one could easily mistake your vdos as science experiments... but cooking is an unique science... and you people are doing a great job... keep up the good work...💖
Came across this channel just a couple of days back. Just do know why I did not see any of these earlier. You guys are awesome. I just spend all my evening here, one video after another. The detailed demonstration, the camera, the music and the chemistry of you guys with food is simply overwhelming. Thank You for making such a nice channel about cooking.
As always hats off! This is called kelfulachi bhaji in marathi and is a very important dish to master in order to be known as a great cook. Our preparation is more or less the same... Also awaiting from you kumror phool dishes.
As a language teacher I take a note of the exclusive terminologies that you always tend to deal with..Expressions like 'scaly, translucent coverings' are truly noteworthy phrases... Regarding the expertise of your kitchen Dom , I rather mute myself just to stop the display of sheer subjective ignorance...You're too brilliant to await any appraisal from a buffoon like me❤️
I followed your recipe and made this today. I was happy to share it with my family. They loved it. Thanks for making such great videos. Love this channel.

You probably know this already but do bite into a floret and check that it isn’t too bitter. Not all mochas are edible. Good luck!
