One thing I found is to sometimes leave 2 units instead of one in certain territories can do a lot more damage to the invading territory and possibly prevent their invasion for cheap.
The real meta for risk is mostly just to keep your units in a big stack. If your stack is bigger than any enemies maybe you try to make more. It does mean that often your bonuses will get broken, but also that you'll more easily be able to snake into others bonuses.
I’ve been playing this version of Risk for sometime, and I have some strategies. 1. You should always have about 2x the forces your opponent has when attacking, you don’t need more except for low numbers like 1-2, in which case you need 4 and 5-6 respectively to guarantee capture. 2. If you leave two units to defend instead of one, the AI will either ignore you or take more losses when attacking you. 3. Only fortify around your frontline, continuously move your defensive troops in response to the shifting frontline. 4. Always have a plan from the start. You can edit that plan as you go along, but always have a starting plan. 5. If you have the chance to eliminate a player/AI that has 2+ cards, take it, it’s almost always worth the risk. 6. Don’t use Blitz Roll, use manual with three dice. You can change your dice rolling in game using the arrows around your dice when attacking. 7. Always try to take at least one territory unless absolutely impossible. Getting cards is one of the only chances you have of saving yourself when you are low on territory and aren’t getting many troops every turn.
I feel as though you should always use the blitz roll when fighting with an easy majority, but if it is close or you have less you should use the manual dice.
Challenge for Drew: You are not allowed to fully control an area of the board until someone is eliminated. If you eliminate them, you can gain control of two territories. This rule is lifted when it gets to a 1 v 1. ALSO play in “blind” mode. So for example, if two people/bots are eliminated and you are responsible for one, you get to control 3 areas of the board.
The one issue with only playing against bots is there is no diplomacy. Do you ever play against other human players? If not, you're missing a really large and interesting part of the game. Whereas the bots are designed to simply expand and take land where they can get it, you can work with other humans and have peaceful borders (until someone backstabs the other), can work together to take out mutual opponents, can trade sectors for cards, and engage in the psychological aspects of war with other people.
If you play against AI, you can usually win by monopolizing an easy to defend place in the beginning, and then just growing while they don’t have monopolies
10:45 you should have just taken Florida and create a chokepoint further up in Central America. That would have secured you the 4 troups you would have got from the Caribbean
I've been playing risk since 6 years old it was the predilect board game in my house, I like Drew's videos cus they are like a window into the mid of a newbie and when I play the game with my friends I can see them thinking the same
i always play aginst hardest AI and i wish it was harder cuz AI is pretty freeking stupid in this game it would be cool uif they made alliances and stuff
Hey drew I think you probably know Jacksucksatgeography he did a trying to name all 197 countries I was just wondering if you would like to do it I would find it very entertaining thank you.
It is actually painful to watch Drew look at territories with one troop and be scared while having 15 troops on the bordering territory
Very painful
He severely over estimates ai
Frr
R.I.P (don’t tell my mom
You’ve definitely never played competitive risk…
Drew: I'm playing the hardest difficulty, hard
Also Drew: Completely ignores that Expert mode exists

As a gm I can tell u this is a waste of troops
I've never seen someone play risk so carefully in my life

Drew the AI is so easy on any diffculty just conquer as fast as possible
Also, I suggest playing online which would be actually hard
He plays so conservatively

Meant fog of war mode
Drew you should play with real people on risk, it’s a lot more fun
No because he would have no chance to win…
Any boardgame will destroy every sense of friendship possible.
And a lot harder 🤣😂

"ok so we have this game; lets call it risk, cause you need to take risks to win."
Drew: 12:34
you can litterally see how many troops they have each turn
none of them had a region for a turn
5:44 you should get this territory because the AI has to split their army to not just get obliterated by you. Therefore they pose less of a threat

RUclips: Ah yes, Clash of Clans

am I the only one so frustrated! He should attack Honduras, divide into two, use the other half to attack into Jamaica and stop.
To be fair, if he played on online battle on risk he prob would get better. Hard dif in risk is more like normal, expert is defo hard at least for me
Maybe also taking the dominican is good. There is really no danger.
He overthinks everything. The AI is really easy plus he had lots of units. He couldve easily taken the Caribbean and Central America in that one turn
Finally a game that drew is better than me at.
You must be pretty bad 🥲
Tbh he plays with AI while we play we play with real people that's a huge difference.
How is he better
If you play against AI, you can usually win by monopolizing an easy to defend place in the beginning, and then just growing while they don’t have monopolies
Yes RUclips, I love watching Drew play Clash of Clans.
POV: You watched the gaming channel before the main uploaded
Yes 😍
Are you stalking me?
Gotta play against humans next time, drew. It's fun to see the flags of each player!
Drew is giving me an actual General vibes and the reason i play RISK i love it.
Panama literally looking like dollar store Slovakia
10:45 you should have just taken Florida and create a chokepoint further up in Central America. That would have secured you the 4 troups you would have got from the Caribbean
*Drew plays risk in the video*
RUclips: "yeah, that's Clash of Clans."
Drew has a 10 and 16 stack ready to take two provinces:nah, that's too risky
The fact they included Louisiana, but not Texas is painful
Tejas?
The AI is super easy. I don't ever lose to the AI. Like 400-0 record most on hardest setting.
good for you
He plays risk like my grandma.
Multiplayer next!

I’ve watched 4 mins and already love it
Drew, it doesn't matter if you are at the top or bottom in right, there's still only 6 turns lol
Ah you mean 6 turns between each of his turns. Yep.
This only really gives a disadvantage at the first round, then it doesn't matter.
Guys drew will play clash of clans thanks to RUclips game system
Mabey Massachusetts can connect to the Dominican republic because of trading.
