i think the point is sort of that they didn't find that sweet spot where it's just usable enough to get some small things done but not enough to stop you using the actual big screen. if the outside screen is enough to use the phone... why buy a foldable at all. maybe have the screen in front lower and more like an android watch type deal rather than a full screen
honestly at this point foldable phones make zero sense to me
So it's already one step better! Next step is outer screen makes me want to use the inner screen. Hopefully that'll be gen 3!

For what? iPad OS. Android doesn't have dedicated os and apps store with apps tailored and highly optimised for tablets...iPads have. So when foldable iPhones is polished, it already has many ''for whats''. Android already dropped support for tablets. All years of support mentioned by samsung are not real support...just a little changes that won't bring value. But rest assured, they won't release a product with many defects and just watch samsung and other companies first until they can perfect it at low price

Jimmy Song just because something is innovative doesn’t mean it’s good! And that’s the problem with most Samsung phones. S20 for example. 8k video and 100x Zoom sound cool but in reality they are absolute garbage and no one uses them. Same here. 2k for a phone that has no real benefit apart from folding in half. Is it innovative? Yes but most people won’t buy one. It’s a niche market. A pink dolphin vibrator is also innovative and got customers but that doesn’t make it a great product. Sorry to shatter your Samsung pink glasses but the Fold is just useless for 99.9% of people for this price point. And that’s what he addresses in the video. If you can’t understand this, this channel isn’t for you cause your IQ is too low.

@@anannymishra9641 there is alot, but nobody is telling you to upgrade, oh no. You don't always have to get the newest. You can still be with an iPhone 8 and it would be fine. But If Apple changes too much, it would be unfair to people who don't have the newest. That's why they make most changes in the os. Samsung is forced to change, or at least move the punchhol to the middle, because they have nothing else to do since Google manages the os.

If It was Apple that did this, you'll not question about "for what".
As you said in that same video, this stuff is "a productivity machine" so it's "for what" it is made for (improve the productivity of people by allowing them to have something that can be turned from a phone like to an tablet like in their pockets). Yes it needs to improve specially in the apps optimization aspect but it's already useful and Samsung phones are known to decrease prices as much as they become old in the market so yes it has a reason to be...

Imagine this form factor but with a much faster SoC, thinner, slightly wider, and comes with a stylus! Would be worth that price.

I think relying on the front screen more is actually a good thing. When you're in conditions that could damage the screen, you have the normal front screen to use. When you are in a situation where you dont need the larger screen: boom! Small screen
Both scenarios provide for use cases that will help reduce damage on the folding screen and on the hinge.
plus one-handing it is a lot easier since it's chunky and slim.
If it had a stylus, it would've been great for professionals.

@@xXKameroniXx you were right! Fold 3 had a better but still fragile screen that Samsung had to make a costumize Fold S Pen that can "write" on it, heck even the device practically screams at you if you try to use a non-Fold S Pen...well, pen on it.

I think many of us want a basic phone screen when on the go or out and about. The open view is for the times you're relaxing or doing something that is more beneficial on a tablet...larger screen. So this gives you somewhat the best of both worlds.

Galaxy Fold 3 and 4 will definitely be the ones to consider buying. This one is really nice but the 3 and 4 will be more optimized and refined to be more mainstream with less faults. Your videos also help them find and correct their flaws. Keep it up

I don't get people man, when the Fold had a small cover screen, people complained. Now when they give a bigger cover screen, they say we can do everything on the cover screen. Wtf?
He s complaining about our habits, because we didn't get used yet to foldable phones and we take refuge into this smaller screen rather than unfolding the bigger one cause it s more comfortable for us.

There hasn't been a better way to put it yet. Yes it's not perfect, but neither was the OG iPhone. But you know what that phone did do? Make you excited for the future of phones.

I don't think this is the future of phones; I think it's the future of tablets. Generally I don't think people are all that bothered about this sort of form factor in a phone, even though it looks cool.
PotatoPirate I actually think so too, but I’m not quite sure if it will work out, for the most people a tablet needs to be bigger than an unfolded galaxy fold 2. I personally drive an iPad Pro 11 inch but in hindsight I would like the 12.9 inch one better. The form factor of the current foldables isn’t appealing to me as a phone and neither it is as a tablet. But I’m curious where they are heading towards. Would be awesome if I only had to carry around one device every day instead of to as it is currently the case

Abu Hurairah Because Android devices are very unoptimized. Let me give you an example, you see that little line at the bottom of the screen, which every Andoid device has copied from the Iphone X, that line will not work 100%. When I tried the Fold 2 for about 15-20min at a Samsung shop, the line failed once which is really bad. I have bought the Iphone X when new and that line has never failed to do its job. I con not imagine how many times will it fail on a Android device.

OJ “Experimental new phone” yes, with an OS that all other Android devices use. The OS on the smaller screen is the same as on any other Samsung phone. And as Complex Bills said, only Pixel phones are “optimized”.

@@rileyblair7273 when the iPhone was first released, it was expensive af. Double the price of most smartphones at the time. So this isn't really anything new. They know probably don't want a lot of people to buy the phones rn because they're not very durable, and people would complain about breaking their devices and giving the company a bad image, even though it is still new technology. There's a lot of reasons for the price. They're not charging just for the Samsung brand.

I, for, one have been noticing he's iMarques for a long time now. That's why I never take his reviews seriously.
I don't watch his videos much, but I definitely agree with you. While companies like apple are releasing pretty much the same phone (or the same form factor)every year, samsung is pushing innovation in the phone market. Of course, this being the 2nd generation, it still has a lot of flaws, but it is something different and also very practical.
Samsung didn't pay him enough to like it.

Fold 3 user here. Media would typically display slightly bigger than a 6.7 inch screen (S22 Ultra size) phone screen. With black bars above and below unless you zoom in although I don't see why you'd do that. What I like, is actually to watch a vid in portrait in relatively big size while still having the bottom of the screen to scroll comments. And that's where the square shaped display shines. Mutlitasking

What I really want to see with folding phones with this style is some sort of DS or DSI ROM where you can half fold up the phone and have the controls on the bottom and the game up top.

bought the fold2 in october and im really enjoing dual screen features with gaming... excited to see what samsung brings with their one ui 3 updates!

i loove that whole idea of using the front narrow screen to do most of my stuff, then i open it and do all my netflix/youtube, and whatever i want.... its a small manageable one handed screen when i need it, and also a 6.8+ screen when i want it!

Yeah. At the end of the day, I might not get it, but I enjoy seeing the tech improve upon what did and didn't work last gen.
Though I do wish the price lowered a bit so that I could - not proud to say - finance it through a carrier and show it off to people that probably don't know of its existence, lol.

Loving mine 1 week in. have the same habit using the outer display more. I tend to unfold when I want to view content in more detail and for videos etc. For me thats perfect I have a phone which is easy to use one handed due to the thiner outer display but instantly have a tablet when I want consume more content. Build quality as well 10/10

It's definitely not worth buying at this stage though. Also I don't see this one being sold anywhere less than 2K once it reaches the end of line and that begs the straight up common sense question. Would you spend 2K dollars on a mini tablet that also can turn into a phone? Not to mention that even if this one eventually ticks all the boxes in hardware segment, what abt the software? You are now forcing a gigantic app community to cater to this new aspect ratio which does not make economic sense for these apps to work on an AR just for this one single phone. So they wont make it and Samsung will end up making enlarged versions of these stock apps which looks horrendous even with all the bells and whistles. Moreover, $2K??? 🤷🧐

As a developer I love that it has the fingerprint swipe pad (wow) and the super square. giant text for easy read and 128! wow fastest refresh in play. I love using it aside an ipad pro now and I love the android apps. my own too- antique now but reinventing with these new great screen dimensions - there is three!
