Extremely well prepared interviewer
Was playing with GPT-4o using it as a translator on the free version, man it is unreal. This will be a go-to application for any traveler to have real time back and forth voice translation (including written transcript) in multiple languages. Beyond useful, no more getting stranded trying to work out how to get somewhere or use some ticketing machine in the depths of a foreign country.
A step closer to a universal translator which what the world needs.
And the new voice mode isn't even out yet. Were you testing the translation with the current old voice chat mode that has ~1-3 seconds delay?
The current voice capabilities of GPT-4 and GPT-4o are already pretty good, and these have been out for months now. Once the new voice mode, where you will also be able to turn on your camera like in the recent demos, releases in the next couple weeks and you can have true human-like back and forth conversations, this is going to be even more insane for uses like this.
Great video, but GPT-4o and Project Astra are advanced AIs, not true AI agents, as they lack full autonomy and real-time learning. However, true agency likely IS coming soon.
IMO agents with multiple models makes more sense. You use different models for different purposes. You can already do that. Give the agents a task and let them go to work and when the task is complete you have a reflection phase where it can learn from itself.

@@g0d182 A "true" AI agent can be seen in projects like BabyAGI, which aims to create a generalized AI capable of independent decision-making and real-time learning.
New models are multimodal not AI Agents.
"You can talk directly to the AI just as you would a human"; you mean the way people *used to do*. People only text each other anymore, and often fight and misunderstand eachother at that.

AI agents refers to the concept of an AI system that can plan, reason, and act in the world. Project Astra and GPT-4o are not considered AI agents. On the other hand, the more advanced search capabilities and some email integrations shown by Google are considered agents. For example, an agent searching email to find relevant receipts, extract the data into a spreadsheet and provide insights and charts is a simple form of AI agent.

There no overpopulation problem. The Earth is capable of sustaining vastly more people than the 50-year projection of 10B, plus the population of large industrialized states is already reaching peaks given birthrates now well below replacement rate. Malthus was wrong. Ehrlich was wrong. The doomsayers never quit their doomsaying yet life has never been better and world poverty has absolutely plummeted over the last 200 years and especially over the last 50.

I have GPT-4o for desktop, but it doesn't really feel that different. I think the mobile app with real-time voice interaction is what is most impressive.
Almost nothing they showed has been released yet. It will be released in the next few weeks or months. Only the text ai has been updated for us so far
the voice chat in the app is an old version that's been there for months, it is not real-time and doesn't process or express emotions
They will only go faster after this year with more and more competition
What bothers me about this situation is the fact that the news and media are all going about a recession which is understandable due to the war and pandemic but still the same media still publish articles about folks in the same economy pulling off hefty 6figure profit(Averg. 200k in barely 8weeks) in this downtrend how is that possible?

Don't really like the term "AI agents"🤔
One glaring difference between these agents and "her" is that that AI in the movie was running on the device. With current hardware, we are not even close to running these powerful models fully on a mobile device.
What do you mean? ChatGPT4o is literally on an app on mobile devices. Unless you mean 24/7 in the back, but that’s still probably possible but would drain the device quickly.

@@caty863 Well you tell me what running the model fully means. The apps on the phones can do everything the desktop versions can. Google is even specifically designing chips to utilize ai in the pixel lineup of phones. I think it will be fine.

CNBC host Deirdre Bosa has asked a lot of extremely sharp questions, but Sundar almost never answered most of them. She asked how he will now answer to the advertiser as AI answer has been put first instead of the adv user, and whether Google will sue openAI on using youtube video, and openAI GPT4o already usable by user while google Astra still need to wait till end of year..all these are very sharp questions, well done. But of course Sundar again avoid all of them like what he did in the Bloomberg Original interview from Emily. It's kind of lame from Sundar to keep giving useless answer like that.

These systems are missing motivation, planning and ability to have no limits, so they will remain as tools with limited potential, potential to experiment like a researcher or athlete or child, as humans with almost no boundaries and limits. The a.i. may also be limited by inability to dream which is a dataset humans enjoy for learning and advancement probably. Just saying i wonder what happens with an a.i. system that does not want or care to cure cancer, create new symponies, or create new gourmet recipes, or brainstorm new ideas for 3d printing of rockets from self sustainable captive energy resources and materials. I suppose the ai. Cam transcend into 3 dimension via what we can robots, and do more visible things. But lets see what happens in the coming years. Maybe the cognitive systems we know as humans will be replaced by an ai discovery and advancement in a less regulated environment and it will then self iterate to singularity.

Are you afraid of being emotionally manipulated by some tech company's AI?. That's easily solved with OPEN SOURCE. Local models that exist only in your device, no data leaving the system!. Open source AIs should be a right!
