You crank content, girl! Good for you! I love how you have it all planned out, mastering the blend here, practicing later with a flower. Very thoughtful.
Emma, thanks. This is the first time I have been able to do a really good gradient. I think it is using the tiny circular motions that made the difference.
Your video really showed me why mine weren’t working! As a beginner didn’t realize how much extra water was on my brush & now going to practice using less water! Ty as on cellulose paper very difficult but even on Arches was going back in with to much water! Ty!!
So appreciate how real you are and willing to share yourself personally and as an artist. Absolutely love your moody landscape and really hope it helped you as much as it did the rest of us! You inspire me to just put brush and paint to paper and explore what can result
Thank you so much for this video. This is one of the best videos on blending I have seen! I liked how you compared the different techniques and papers and the problems that can happen. Sometimes its just the little tricks to learn how to do it correctly and this was perfect! You are an excellent teacher and can't wait for the upcoming videos!
Emma you are a perfect tutor. I like the way you leave nothing out. You don't presume we have prior knowledge. That id what makes you such a good Tutor. Thank you very much. xxx
Thanks so much!!! I am so inspired by you Emma. I am in love with your watercolour channel and you have thought me a lot from when I first started. Keep it going.
I happened on your videos accidentally, and what a great accident that was! You've inspired me. I've purchased the supplies, based on your recommendations (after watching several of your videos), I've made my first palette, and now I just have to get the nerve to get started. Soon. It's really helpful to watch you work. Sometimes you make something that I think, after a few strokes, oh, that's not good, and then as you keep working it transforms into something amazing. So I'm thinking that will help me not judge my first strokes. I don't yet understand some of the "parts," but what you do is broken down so helpfully that I think I'll be able to do it. Today's lesson is especially exciting. I've done blending with markers and pencils, but not with water. I think you're amazing. Thank you so much for all your videos.
Thank you so much Emma. I love your videos and always learn so much. You definitely make water colouring look less scary and much more doable. I am looking forward to the up owing flower techniques!
Well there you have it! I was doing the technique correctly. It’s my paper. Thank you for helping us to learn and grow in our skills. Love your videos!
Emma, I’ve followed you for many years and love how you explain the various techniques, especially that it’s ok to use different methods. I’m currently planning on teaching a beginners watercolor class, so I will include some practice blending before the actual painting. Thanks! And best of luck with the baby.
thank you Emma for this! In particular, I have a great deal of trouble blending on cheaper paper. As I'm only getting started I'm sure you know that to PRACTICE on the more expensive paper is pointless unless...of course, it's a practice sheet before you submit the one you really want to the company you're leasing your work to. I have no idea how that process works but sounds like something that might happen. Anyway, I loved how you showed 3 examples on each type of paper! And I've found all of what you showed us on my own and so I feel great about my theory of watercolor I've reached just watching you and others on here I find so helpful. I love your channel!
Thank you thank you thank you!!! 💖 I'm just starting out and have been struggling w this. I will def be trying out ur tips! ☺ And thank you for using artist loft paper! I have the next step up in quality for paper but not close to the quality most people use when doing these videos n it can be frustrating when trying to replicate things so this was very helpful to see thank u! 😊
Awesome! Can you do a Rose Of Sharon? I'd like to know how to make the dark center bleed into the petal and still leave room for the stamin. You are my favorite teacher. You really explain it in a way I can succeed
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. It's indeed a great learning. I request you to kindly do a tutorial on "while doing wet on wet, the first wash starts drying specially in less humid ambience" how to deal with it specifically in landscapes...Thanks..
Not sure if you are aware your audio has a low background hum to it in your last few videos, including this one. I really like how you show the process on both types of paper. Always enjoy your videos! Thanks 😊
Thank you Emma! I'm very budgeted currently.. so. I do most on Canson XL... just to keep in practice- I do Not like the completed project too often... I have to remind myself, it's NOT my "frame able " work. It's Just Practice. I DID get a pad of Arches, but, I have Yet to even pull the plastic off. I ❤️ Your brushes... I'm going to apply this to the CXL- bc, since I got your brushes- I'm not AS unhappy as previously.. so, maybe this was just the video I needed for that lil Extra "Push" .. I Know we are our Own worst critics... when I DO complete a piece, I'll share on IG, and tag you... maybe I'll do a side by side of CXL and break open the Arches. I Am curious how much difference it may make... Hope you are well!
Thanks for the tip! Ever since you came out with the soft florals I really have been trying to master them. Love your videos. Just curious, are your brushes all sold out?
When you’re doing loose florals you move much faster. Not fussing over blending it out. Can you demonstrate that. I’m using strathmore 100% cotton paper and just get ugly blobs where I tap in color. After seeing this it’s clear that I’m using too much water. Thanks Emma!!
Yes, loose flowers I feel you have to move a bit faster to get the colour bleeds you want. The blobs are probably because of your paper too. Strathmore doesn’t stay as wet as some others do. But it could also be too much water as well
I tried a new paper ordered to deliver ve because they were out of my usual Strathmore. My paint shows up very dark and I almost have to load clean water in my brush to get the pait to move. Any idea if It is user error or the paper? Thanks for showing these techniques. Looking forward to the flowers thus week.
@Emma Jane Lefebvre It gets the green but just won't move the wash. It is almost like painting with acrylics to get pigment into the paper. I think I will do mixed media on these. I sent one to my grandchildren who are in the early teens. Hope it does not impede their learning and technique.
Time to practise! I have found that not all 100% cotton papers are equal. Cheaper ones from China are actually worse than some cellulose papers. I have a watercolour sketch book from Fabriano which is not cotton but works pretty well.
You crank content, girl! Good for you! I love how you have it all planned out, mastering the blend here, practicing later with a flower. Very thoughtful.

Thanks for this tutorial. Really good info that is going to help me tremendously. You nailed exactly what I’ve been doing wrong. Lol.
Oh thank you, thank you thank you so much! Your videos are so helpful, and I've watched plenty. Love from France ❤️
Your video really showed me why mine weren’t working!
As a beginner didn’t realize how much extra water was on my brush & now going to practice using less water! Ty as on cellulose paper very difficult but even on Arches was going back in with to much water! Ty!!
I love your way of sharing info for me to learn why I have made my mistakes
Fantastic lesson. Very clear and easy to follow. Great modeling of correct procedures as well as beginner mistakes.
Emma!!! Thank you! This is so helpful, I've watched hundreds of tutorials and never learned this technique. Yaaay! 😘😘
Being new to watercolor, I really needed this video! I struggle so much with blending, now I just need to practice this.
Yes, i really do have these pooling issues. Thank you for your help.
You just described an issue I didn't realize I had; I'm using too much water! Great video.

thank you! You're a great teacher, breaking down the concepts and going slow enough for me to understand.
Thanks so much!!!
I am so inspired by you Emma. I am in love with your watercolour channel and you have thought me a lot from when I first started. Keep it going.
I've had a problem with this so thank you you've helped me a lot.
I have been using Canson paper for ever and think I can now get the blending, if not mastered, at least better. thanks Emma
Thank you. I'll be watching this video over and over and practicing until I get it right.
wow I was just working on hydrangeas and getting frustrated. LOL. perfect!!!!
So helpful, I love watercolours
I had a teacher tell me once a good artist can do excellent work on cheap paper. She did!

Thanks a lot! This was very helpful
So helpful and well-demonstrated! Thanks!
Thank you Emma
I see the error of my ways...from now on I will always wash and dry my brush before blending..🥰
Wow did I need this tutorial - so so helpful!
It is just what I need now. You are great!!! Thanks.
Thank you so much! That will really help me in getting smooth, pretty petals!
Can’t wait to practice, thanks for the helpful tips❤️

Ahhhh, thank you!
Thank you so much
Thanks so much. Now I understand where I’m going wrong :)
Thanks hun
This was very helpful, thank you and omg did you say tulips? Is it Friday yet? :)
Thanks for the tip! Ever since you came out with the soft florals I really have been trying to master them. Love your videos. Just curious, are your brushes all sold out?
They are all sold out :)
@@EmmaLefebvre That’s awesome for you! Thankfully I already got some😊. Love them so so much. You did a great job designing them!

It could easily be the paper. What make is it?
Hmm not sure
@Diane Antone Studio The paper is 5.5 x 8.5 spiral bound from USArt supply
@Emma Jane Lefebvre It gets the green but just won't move the wash. It is almost like painting with acrylics to get pigment into the paper. I think I will do mixed media on these. I sent one to my grandchildren who are in the early teens. Hope it does not impede their learning and technique.
Merci pour ce tuto Emma, nous les débutants on veut aller trop vite et obtenir un résultat avec un seul coup de pinceau lol
❤️❤️❤️
Time to practise! I have found that not all 100% cotton papers are equal. Cheaper ones from China are actually worse than some cellulose papers. I have a watercolour sketch book from Fabriano which is not cotton but works pretty well.
Fabriano is top quality paper no matter what fibres it contains. Also, Etival by Clairefontaine is 100% cellulose and is great for beginners.
how have you been feeling?
Tired! This baby is kicking the crap out of me! Lol. Not too much longer though :)
@@EmmaLefebvre that's a great feeling of him moving around.
@@EmmaLefebvre Can’t wait to see him! Wishing you a easy rest of your pregnancy!
@@afishcalledmeg thank you!
Is it just me....or her tone extremely patronizing?
Very helpful. Thank you.
