I think it's probably fine for us to stay in the OFC right now.
If you look at a lot of our friendly matches (or competitive ones) vs nations from other confederations we really aren't too far behind (1-1 draws with both DRC and Ireland, a loss to Tunisia on penalties, A 1-0 loss to Egypt, a 2-0 loss to Greece and a 2-0 loss to Australia).
It may be that staying in the OFC ends up being a sort of liability to us in terms of our football development (and to be honest I expect this to be the case), but I think we should probably have a couple goes at World Cup before making that sort of decision.

You've made a very valid point. I think, NZ Football ⚽️ will most likely remain in the OFC for the foreseeable future as the Confederation now has 1.5 slots for the 2026 World Cup and beyond.
Some fans might see this as rather short sighted however by regularly qualifying for future World Cups it's money 💰 for the OFC and NZ Football plus their calendar 📅 is more open to play friendlies against higher-ranked nations in the AFC and CONCACAF as well as tough opponents in UEFA.
I believe the OFC should remain as it's own Confederation instead of merging with the AFC.
Maybe CONCACAF could invite them to play in the next Gold Cup like they did for Qatar 🇶🇦 previously and/or the OFC starts up their own Nations League which would give all 11 member nations regular meaningful matches in the international football calendar 📅.

If ofc merged with afc, they could still have an oceanic cup because afc already has regional championships outside of the main asian cup. This also means Australia can compete in oceanic cup again

I Read through the chat and I'm getting some people say that New Zealand should leave the ofc and that they're in the wrong Confederation.
They are not.
Do you think Australia leaving was right.
Even if they are leagues ahead of the other teams... they are still part of the Confederation and their presence in the ofc gives it more recognition in the world stage. So stop trying to strip a weak Confederation of what little power it has left 😒😒😒
