Yeah when I fished for Trout here they had to be 12 inches so I measured 12 from the end of the handle up the rod and rap a peace tape around it.

If you can find some A-1 Seasoned Flour, buy it. Great for coating, fish, chicken, etc.

Really loved it please go back and fish it again soon. Also can you do really close up tutorials on rigging up your lines, I mean from the floats which I can never seem to put on right where my float sits up in the water straight no matter what I do. I change them up with all brand new ones to make sure there not damaged, I make sure I'm not fishing too deep! It truly takes the wind out my sails. I'm also not very tech savvy so if you guys respond I hope I get to see it. I Love when your videos pop up and can't wait to watch. Love your whole family so kool God Bless!!🙏❤

Up here in Michigan most of those would have been keepers. We have no minimum on crappie length. So any of those 9+" would have been eaters. I generally don't keep any smaller than 9". But they're always yummy.
Gotta love fresh crappie. Always delicious. And always a fun time catching them.

Just a tip for measuring fish. I usually only carry 2 rods and I mark them from the butt end. You can use a sharpie or tape. I have them marked for various species. Makes it real easy to measure them. I enjoy your crappie videos can't wait for the spring spawn here.
Should try that technique that I mentioned to you in a previous video. "Flat Corking" or basically taking a single or double jig rig and attach an unweighted cigar float at the desired depth. Work it as you normally would. You'll see the strike as the float will rock back and forth or if a really huge slab, it'll stand straight up. Another way to fish this setup is by undoing the top of the float and only have bottom attached. You'll instantly see the strike even if the crappie breathes on it.

Living in Miami and near the Florida keys, I have never caught a Crappie, but, I would love to. I now live on FL west coast, there is a State Park close, Myaka River and I am going to research where I can try for my first Crappie. Great Show!

I'm not sure what you call a slab, but to me a slab is at least 1 1/2 pounds plus.
I grew up in Memphis fishing Arklabutla and Enid where we used to catch 3+ LBS crappie

We are from Arkansas also and fish this creek. My two little girls kinsley and journey are some of y’all’s biggest fans ! We watch all y’all’s videos together . My husband is a big fan too . We have learned so much from y’all . My girls through it was so cool y’all were at the same creek we recently fished !

Catch and cook are my favorite
Cole and Jay, here is something I have done to help me measure when I don't have a tape. I spread my pinky finger and thumb as wide as they will go and measure that width. On my hand it's 9 inches. If a crappie is a good bit over that measure then I know it is a keeper.
