I was in middle school during these times, what a time to be a moto fan at 12 & 13 years old!
man you aint kiddin. the lunch table on a monday was always filled with moto talk from the past weeks ricky demo
there will never be another RC
Jett I hope
ricky charmichael is the reason why i got my first dirt bike at the age of 7. been riding 25 years now
Simply "The G. O. A. T"!!! ☝️🥇🏆
Craziest thing about this guy was in his early Pro years his riding was so sketchy I’d get white knuckles just watchin him. Somehow he made it work though. Then took himself and the whole sport to new level. A fine tuned, borderline perfection level
definition of brute force
less raw bike talent than Stewart but probably the most determination ever
@@snowzZzZz introduced training into the game. Big heart to win. 100+ wins at 50k per win bonus, do the math.!!! Plus base salary, big$
Yep, riding that line, like Stewart i actually went to school with ricky and used to practice at our hometown track(closed) he was on an 80 and jumped on a kx250 and literally rode the 250 as hard as he rode the 80 if not harder,, like braaaap as hard and twice as high on the jumps, i have it on video, ricky if ur reading, "earl may"!
@Rick Rossi it was a lot more, he bet on himself by taking less on base pay and jacked his win bonuses over 150k...he was making 12 million a year on bonuses, pay, and title bonus. That doesn't include the rest of his endorsements either.. Oakley was paying him 50K to run their goggles, his boot and gear deal, monster, and all his other endorsements.
@@cbosmooth Damn
RC has said this years outdoor bike was his favorite he ever raced.
I used to watch Ricky Carmichael race at Dade City and he's been The Goat for a long time.
When you compare to most other sports its pretty amazing to see how humble and calm Ricky always was even though he was so dominate. Never really made any rude comments about his competitors, absolutely dominates and just acts like its another day.
Simply the GOAT
We'll most likely NOT see another perfect MX season again in our lifetime. Crazy that we got to see it 2x with RC and once with JS7.
100%
Idk Ken got 20/24 in 2016 but more than likely not.
@@zumptt A truly amazing feat too considering the circumstances. When RC/stew did it the sport didn't have the level of fitness and training that is common now. No one could compete with RCs speed and stamina. Stews raw speed kept him up front but his race craft wasn't as on point as RC. Rc knew when to shut it down but Bubba was too much like Ricky Bobby....win or die trying. Now that all the factory guys are basically running the same level of training programs I think things are a little more even. Kenny is just a freak of nature. The fact that he can even still ride after nearly ripping his arms off is a feat in itself. If he didn't have his accident I don't think ET3 would have the championship count he has.
05 he won every overall and lost only 2 motos, once getting landed on at Unadilla and the other he could or easily won. We should of seen it 3 times, last two back to back.
Soon
I preferred his 2 stroke days myself, esp the first perfect season. 🤘
Yup
yes sir
The dude is very unassuming but can absolutely rip it. Been a fan ever since he battled hard with Stewart at Unafuckindilla. I doubt anyone will ever beat some of his records
are you really danzigg?
My buddy and I were on the fence maybe 20’ from them when bubba landed on Ricky. It was crazy!
Awesome. Thank you for the video.
Fastest on the planet🤘😍
Absolute bad ass!!! He was on rails
That’s incredible ☝🏻
Ricky never cried about the track condition , he just went out there and whooped everyone.
RC on Honda was lethal
100%
GOAT Period
RC bikes is so plane it shows that you don’t need all the bling to go fast. Sick video
Exactly! I rode a stock bike except suspension pretty much the whole time I raced and still done pretty good.
Dude that’s a $100k+ factory Honda you’re saying is plain.
@@PassThePurp945 shouldn't of took his word then haha.
@@jakemcleod4983 I’m not trying to argue at all, I was stating a fact
@@PassThePurp945 lol 100k? Maybe 25k
Honda has 3 perfect seasons, 2 with Carmichael a one recently with Jett Lawrence
Man I'm sure it was pain for Chad Reed in the outdoors that year
Yes, but I still applaud CR22 for always being right there, up front and fighting for it. 2nd best against all that talent is still something to be proud of 👍
K Dee5681 Not to mention staying top level competitive for so long. Oldest still at the top level I believe
Should have an interview with one of the other riders where they say “ I’m one of the greatest motorcycle riders in the world and I can’t beat that dude”
Very cool edit brother thankyou
No problem, more to come!
OMG 9:15 That whip on the "Holy Schmidt" at Millville ...That 120ft triple only RC and Reed were taking it that day...
I was there it was impressive!
My all time favorite with one exception. You don’t EVER quit when your on top and still competitive. All the work and hell he went through to be the very best and then just quit once you’ve made it big is a huge loss. The fans lost a rider that made it all interesting and RC lost doing what he loved as well as making a lot more money. He had a lot of racing left in him. If he was burnt out the best thing to do is rest during the off season and even come back and just race half the races to stay away from a tough schedule. It would have been interesting to see him race even though with racing every other race he would never be #1 but who cares really.
damn back when the budds creek start was on top of the hill by the barn
I was thinking the same thing :)
I'm American and love the Americans but also love to watch Jeffrey herlings ride. Maybe you can do one on herlings versus cairoli or herlings versus everyone?
I got a few Herlings vids look for his playlist on my channel
Triumph !!!
Doubt there'll ever be another:
1. Ricky Carmichael
2. Perfect season
3. Honda championship..:)
Didnt James nearly have 2 Perfect seasons lost one race because of his clutch?
Ricky beat James outdoors 90 times out of 100
@@Krazy7mx i think james perfect season was 08. I think 07 was the season ricky raced half the rounds. Kx and rmz those years were pretty close. Kaw and suz were scrambling to develop 4t bikes to compete and their 250f bikes were the same just different plastic:) 06 and 07 were good outdoor years to watch james and ricky.
We’re pretty darn close right now with Jett
Lived between broome tioga and dilla rem him upshifting on huge downhills...dente my friends hamms keg can with a rock on the rd whoops at broome..felt th earth shake in gravity cavity..fences weren't 20 ft away...still have fox!thor banners from tracksIde w dirt caked on em...
RC was just incredible on a dirt bike, truly the 🐐
He sat out sx and came back and went 24-0 in the outdoors and still never got another ride with honda😂🤣 apparently they offered bubba a huge contract to join honda which carmichael only found out not that long ago.
im pretty sure the offer to bubba was in 02 and ricky went to suzuki because honda wouldnt match the offer. thats just from what i remember i could be wrong
I was listening to carmichael on a podcast saying about honda wanting bubba and I think it was for the 05 season and that is why honda held off on carmichael because they thought they had bubba in the bag.....I could be wrong in the finer details but at least I never got it as wrong as honda🤣😂
@@lez259 yah I do remember that I think from whisky throttle or something but yah that sounds right. I just remember spy photos of a cr125 that stew tested and hated and I thought it was the 02 bike. That’s what’s throwing me off lol
It's hard to appreciate how fast Carmichael/these guys rip around a track. Footage doesn't do it justice similarly with NASCAR, F1, etc. However @ 9:35 you can somewhat get a genuine glimpse of it.. He's fucking RIPPIN'
We will never ever see this again!!
We might next week
You really gotta respect reed. He was never the fastest but he always tried his hardest
Carmichael was the truth when I was a kid
👍👍
Then went into 05 winning all 12 overalls and lost two motos, both were leading and 1 he was landed on... in 2 seasons he had a 24 race win streak, not including 03.
In 10.5 years as a pro, he had 126 outdoor races, he won 102 of those
26/36 in 125
76/90 in 450
And every outdoor title he entered.. 10/10
Plus all his des nations wins as a team and individual class wins...
His record will stand alone outdoors.
Absolutely. I would still bet with a few month's back with Aldon training, RC could still make all outdoor mains and contend for wins by mid season. He was that special. I finally see something similar in another rookie rider and its not a Lawrence brother. This kid looks just like a young RC did on the bike from how he rides, his determination and his stature
Well, this is ripped directly from the 2004 outdoors DVD.
i kinda did get to meet mr james stewart n 2003 back then
For all the championships that he won, he rarely ran the #1 plate on his bike.
Those white bros pipes were so sick! Miss those. Anyone got one for an 08 crf450? Lol
8:38 is why you don’t charge at Ricky into a corner, especially if you’re a lap down.
I have a interesting Business Inquiry for you, how can I contact you?
My email on my RUclips channel
9:49 thats a no no situation
Honda's last open class champion.
Damn
Crazy part....he usually had the bike detuned from my understanding, said otherwise it was too much power....and still managed to lay the hurt down
I think thats what riders need to do these days, too much power.
@@wd840mxhighlights yeah control > speed
@@snowzZzZz 100%
Uhhh, no. They get every ounce of power possible out of those things. How TF you think he jump 120ft triples out of corners. They may gear it differently and try to smooth out power with valving etc, but "detuning" is literally f-ing absurd and just stupid to say.
@@ScottPaulConley detuned from what is possible for the motor to produce. The riders tend to flatten the power curve because there is plenty of power. Lots of interviews with pro's who said this.
Was that his first year on the 450?
This season 2004
Ricky JAMES the real .champion .
@Brian Stafford RC has 15 championships. And for all of his 10.5 years racing pro, (21 different series), he has over a 83% win average.
🤣
See that big fat cat at min 11:16. He is one of the guys responsible for the destruction of this sport.
Who was he again? Head of AMA or something?
and how has the sport been destroyed?
F.i.m.
I’m glad he did it on a Honda
Don't you think that you should have put the year for this undefeated season?
It’s on the thumbnail
@@wd840mxhighlights I'm sorry. Okay. I see it now.
I miss Kenworthy
Ridiculous. I wonder in these early days of 4 strokes if his power to weight ratio was giving him a huge advantage. He probably weighed about 130lbs.
The way he rode was alot more advance, bro was out there racing garbage truck drivers 😭
Windham had NOTHING for RC once they gave Ricky a 4 stroke too. If we told the truth, Windham didn't have much for ANYBODY once everybody else was given a 4 stroke.
in this area he using the fake engine.
boring year lol
