Great video. I always like your analysis and I think in order to understand who or what Martin is, one has to remember what Fatima told Elgin at the Brundles. Fatima states that Fromlanders experience the town in the form of either “dreams, nightmares or weird premonitions.” Thus, there are three literary devices used by the writers to explain the three types of "visions" Fromlanders experience and I think it is absolutely necessary to divide those so-called "visions" into one of three categories; namely 1) dreams, 2) nightmares and 3) premonitions. In short, I posit that the visions that I would consider to be "dreams" are Martin in Dungeon appearing to Boyd, Ellis appearing to Boyd at bottom of the well in the dungeon, Ballerina appearing to Boyd multiple times in the clinic and woods and church, Dungeon Mari, Dungeon Randall, Dungeon Julie, Abby in the Dungeon appearing to Boyd and guy on phone talking to Kenny when he is burned by the cicada. The characters that I define as "premonitions" are Fatima in Kimono drowning Elgin, Abby in RV, Ghost Tom talking to Jade, Ghost Father Khatri talking to Boyd multiple times, Gus the Dog appearing to Boyd and Victor multiple times, Sara having "Kill The Boy" written on her arm in the diner and Abby trapped in spider web appearing to Boyd. The characters I define as "nightmares" are the ghoulish kids appearing to Tabi outside her house and the barn, civil war soldier chasing Jade, Civil War Soldier crushed by boulder in root cellar, ventriloquist doll appearing to Jade in colony house, Christopher appearing to Jade holding up the bleeding symbol, ghoulish kids appearing to Jade in cave, Ghoulish kid in cave appearing to Tabitha and throwing the ball at the wood blocks, and Smiley appearing to Mari in the clinic. I would probably consider what happened to Paula who is Reggie’s wife as a “nightmare” but since we only see the aftermath, I cannot state how I would classify what happened to her and what type of “vision” she may or may not have experienced. You probably noticed that I did not put the Boy In White in any of the above three literary devices and that is because I believe the BIW fits in all three. I think the boy in white appears to some Fromlanders as a dream (eg. Victor) and as a nightmare (e.g Sara) and as a premonition (eg. Ethan and Tabitha). Also, I do not think you need to be either awake or asleep to experience a dream, premonition or nightmare. You can experience all three in either state. Lastly, that I do not consider any flashback scene to fall into any of the above three literary devices because flashbacks are their own category of literary device used by the writers. Great video and I look forward to your thoughts on my theory.

I think the evil entity and the music box might be on opposite sides- the evil wanted to force Boyd to destroy the Music Box/Ballerina.
The Ballerina is a entity in white- like the Boy In White.
I think the evil Voices that tormented Sarah wanted her to KILL THE BOY- which Sarah mistook Ethan to be, but was actually the Boy In White.
Opposing forces that can't harm each other directly so they manipulate the humans and monsters to do it.
I think Martin was the evil Boyd set free from the Bottle Tree and is still around.
The Ballerina seemed to be helping Boyd- showing him how to utilize the worms to kill monsters.

@@squiggyflop Good point. So does the Nurse Monster. Still, I think that's more a coincidence of their costumes- not a "team white" kinda thing.

Boyd, through his resilience and determination, gained the ability to see the various nightmares in the town. He found the talismans when he was determined to survive and when he was bitten by the spiders he was about to give up, but thanks to Sarah, he didn't falter. Also, building the radio tower built the determination of the town, which was discouraged by the voice, because it would allow those involve to see pass the veil.

You very quickly mentioned that Martin could be the red jellyfish on the wall. I think that could be very accurate. The hanging fringe could be his ripped clothes. It shows arms to the side. Good one

Thank you, loving that your back with From videos getting us ready for the upcoming season. I think that Martin, just like many other people and things in From land, is a recreated person for Boyd to see and interact with but he has been dead for a very long time. Whomever is conducting this experiment is able to portray themselves as anything to further things along and better test certain individuals.

If the far-away trees send you to a random destination, that's one thing. But if there is a way to predict or control them, the boy in white sent Boyd to that dungeon on purpose.

It's been speculated that the symbol Jade keeps seeing are a map to where the Faraway Trees take you once the trees move into the proper configuration.
The trees are a countdown clock- maybe counting down to the end of the game/reset.

This is an interesting theory though. When Boyd freed Martin, the entity was released. Maybe Martin was really the entity.

15:27 common sense: Sara FOLLOWED Boyd into the tree after him. She ended up on top and not in the well, she threw down the rope. All the other characters at the time were previously occupied.
16:18 the “worms” can either be good or bad. Martins works kept him alive for a long time, possibly a century, without food or water. As soon as the worms left him he immediately died. Martin was good. The “good worms” entered smiley snd instantly killed the evil creature.
It’s not a different dimension it’s a different time. We can clearly see the ruins of the dungeon when Boyd exits. THAT faraway tree moved Boyd through space AND time.
This means that Sara is ENTANGLED not to the town, but that specific TIME PERIOD where Martin was chained. This is why could hear the music box and knew exactly where it was at. We know shockingly little about Sara’s past
This is also why the writers gave Jade the career of Quantum computing software engineer. They didn’t pull it out of a hat.
Also, when are we going to start seeing this as a version of Peter Pan.
Victor is Pan, the man with horrible memory (draws everything) and acts like a child.
The lost boys are the townies
    The worms are the fairies

I’ve been obsessed with this show but have only seen season one because I can’t afford another subscription, but I’ve watched all recaps pertaining to this. Did Sarah not say that her brother had a fear of cicadas from childhood? Is that how these fears are introduced into Fromland? Such as past experiences that people have had. It’s also interesting why there are specific creatures, ie: milk man, nurse, ventriloquist doll, and all of the random objects in the cave. Forgive me for commenting without seeing the full second season and I may break down and order it 😆. I love that you share your thoughts on this, and not criticize anyone that has an opinion different from yours.

I don't think Martin is the entity, I think he was captured like the three were captured with the cicadas, he was the last of the previous three to still be alive, that's why he wanted to die.
