This whole situation is a good example as to why we should NEVER live in a constant emotional state. Our emotions change by the minute so living in that space is like living on a rollercoaster. To Justin: An apology is a good start and can be a new beginning. You're young and according to Ryan's statements there is talent in you, talent that was possibly set aside due to being overwhelmed by the BS that tends to lie in the same realm as your talent. Bring that talent out and push all the BS aside. Work hard to be successful and leave the people that will never be successful, at anything, alone. You know what I'm talking about, the kind of people that helped bring you to the point of a public apology. Something that Ryan warns about all the time, just listen. By not taking a step up, that someone gives you, that step is forever gone and the next step for you will be even higher. You could end up an old man that hates himself for not taking advantage and making use of what was there for him when he was young. Success is the main course and the partying is the desert, keep them in that order and remember, you can't survive on desert alone. To be honest, I'm far from perfect, I'm almost 60 and if I had the talent to put all of my life's screw ups down on paper and set it to music, I would have a whole library of songs a great deal of people could relate to.

Every single day, hour, minute, or second matters in this life, in your life. Make the most of it and try your hardest to be the best person you can be. You know deep in your heart what the right thing to do is and you show it by manning up and taking responsibility for your words/actions. That's all anyone can expect of anyone. Him being put on blast and everyone calling him out for just about everything that had came out of his mouth was a lie, or twisted, exaggerated, all he did was make himself out to be an ungrateful, spoiled, selfish, boy trying to act big and bad and made a humongous fool out of himself. I graduated with a degree in human services! Getting clean isn't easy but it is so worth it! There is no way I would go back to how I was living! I dealt with all my issues and dude I have never been happier! All my relationships with family have been restored! The withdrawal sux but once I had a clear mind I knew I didn't want to go back

So freakin true! I've said the same thing for years about my son and others. At times, I guess I can say I have fucked up royalty, when things were going good too!too! It's sickening to work tooth & nail to accomplish goals, feel the joy of that success, get too comfy, and lose it all. It's always easier to recognize when others are doing it. By the time we realize what we've done, it's always too late! The "gets too comfy" part is my downfall every time! We have to always remember to be grateful in order to stay optimistic! Nothing good ever comes from self-pity & nobody wants to be around it! The most important thing is to stay resilient and get back up again! Self sabotage is a 100% real thing we do subconsciously for whatever reason and the depression, regret, and anger we have at ourselves can easily eat us alive and that holds us down even longer every time!

This guy seriously needs some help, because I can see this not going well for him. As a recovering addict myself, I too did and said some stupid crap in my addiction day’s! Especially the horrible thing’s that I said to my husband during an argument before he walked out the door and I never saw him again. He was hit by a car while out walking to cool off from our argument. I never got to apologize and the guilt made me fall deeper into my addiction, because I felt like it was my fault. However, I knew that if I continued down that path I was either going to OD or take my own life, but thanks to the good Lord, I’ve been sober since November 15, 2020. Drug’s make our mind’s our own worst enemy, so I pray that Justin gets the help he need’s ASAP. God Bless.

As a recovering addict, its clear as day that gobble character is on drugs. My guess is opiates/heroin just based on his eyes, voice and body language. This is a man who genuinely seems to be hurting and ashamed and regretful. Only time and future behavior will tell us if that is true or he's just embarrassed that it got out. But Americans, especially in the south, are a forgiving people. We've all made mistakes and done stupid things, and if someone recorded every conversation we thought was private, I'd say almost all of us have said things we'd hate to get out- though probably not to this extent. Nevertheless, I think most of us- and the comments seem to bear this out, are willing (THIS TIME) to give him the benefit of the doubt and accept that this is a genuine apology and that its being offered for the right reason. If those assumptions are true, then his pain is real and he honestly is hurting. Imagine how bad it must feel to wake and see a video of yourself that was made because you were hanging out shooting the sh_t with a (supposed) friend and you'd been trying to impress him so you made stuff up that you thought only he would hear and now the whole world is hearing it. Of course lying is awful, and of course being critical of someone (church) who did so much for you is even worse. But at the end of the day he seems to acknowledge that it was an awful thing he did and he SEEMS (and hopefully is) genuinely sorry. It had to be extremely hard to face the music and make this video so I give him credit for that. I hope this is a turning point for this man and his character and honesty and that he remembers how this felt and changes his life because of it. Good luck, sir. (No, I don't know a single one of the people involved it this and didn't even know Upchurch until I stubbled into this little drama 3 days ago. He recorded you without your knowledge (which I believe because gobbler kept his recording device below the camera the whole convo so you didn't see it)... But you said what you felt, someone aired you out online and now you're trying to save face by saying you don't know what you were saying cause your memory isn't good or they might be jokes.

We have all talked shit wether it be a relationship we knew that WE fucked up and we blame the other person in private conversations. I didn’t hear excuses. I'm 46 now and I didn't like who I was in my 30s because the choices I made but I turned that around in my late 30s, and believe me - time FLIES by. I feel like I was 30 just a few years ago. But my point is, fix whatever it is and love who you are. You only get 1 shot in this thing called life. I play guitar too man. I have since I was 15. I'm decent, but I damn sure ain't as good on guitar as you. God gave you that talent, so don't go and waste it. I hope you turn your life around, and remember, it's never too late to turn your life around. Anything before today is the PAST. Don't dwell in the past.

Look dude, I’ve been my own worst enemy for most of my life. I’ve thrown away opportunities over and over again. But, about 5 years ago, I hit rock bottom. I was hold up in a shed doing dope for a couple years straight. I got clean, became an electrician, and haven’t looked back. I’ve been a foreman for a year now. I’m not rich, but my kid has everything he wants. My wife is happy. But most importantly, I don’t hate myself anymore. I’m a die hard Upchurch fan and The Old Days is one of my favorite songs. Man Justin had so much talent. Met dude at a show with church in a barn. He seemed cool. I dont think he knew how much talent he actually had.
I watched the video that he is discussing. There was so much said between the two of them. But the guy recording was pushing him to talk negatively as well. And everyone makes mistakes. Justin needs to forgive himself. Upchurch said straight up, look at yourself in the mirror every day and remember you're the best you that you can be.
