At the end of the day, Roblox is a game *platform.* It’s a social media. Them not adding any social features for so long (and even removing some of them) was very limiting.
I’m optimistic about these updates.
Im kinda good with what they said in this RDC, seems like its good for the own sake of roblox's futrure, we gotta adapt as players, everything changes overtime, but we need to make sure it does for good...

Yeah, I remember when I was trying to form a party sometime after the feature was removed and was very confused when I didn’t see the option anymore. They could be annoying sometimes (I have faint memories of just minding my own business on the website and being thrown into a game), but overall, they were a pretty good feature. Maybe some improvements such as having a ready check (so that if you’re not ready to join your party in the game, the rest of the party could join without you) would make it even better, too.
Parties were very useful. Especially in larger groups.
I was very disappointed when they were removed, but I’m glad they’re making a comeback!

You know how Roblox sometimes suggests a game to play in chat? There was a time when I thought that was that, and I was confused when it didn’t group me and my friends together automatically.

the 5 party size restriction made them unviable for any actual group based activities involving more than a handful of people
hopefully new parties have a much higher party member cap so they’re actually viable for group activities

These are all pretty damn positive changes, which is incredibly rare nowadays. Im excited for the future of Roblox.
Don't have too many high hopes, they can always go back on/modify these changes for the worst.

@@Frostism depends more on the developer how they optimize it imo. tricks of "unrendering" invisible content to the camera and other neat little tricks people use.

I'm a bit skeptical about video ads mid-game, as if it would profit the developer of the game by alot, many games would start implementing these as mobile games do, which is not good as I always adored Roblox for never interrupting my experience while playing.

Hey lordcowcow today it was discovered that Koofy is Kelogish, for which his acts have already been exposed today. I liked his videos that Koofy made but when I saw the expose what they did he gave a tremendous turn of what he did but anyway, things that always happen in the roblox community.

As for the "people can make bad stuff" argument, with all due respect they already do due to UGC. Giving people the opportunity to adjust cosmetics themselves won't just benefit the freaks, but everyone can use it too. I genuinely don't see how it can be any worse then public UGC.

All these updates would make the game just a few megabytes larger. Roblox knows more about software development than all of us here, they will certainly optimize it

most of these updates don't actually seem that bad, like the video api and posting thing actually sounds kinda sick, the streamer mode and the friends limit being raised is useful, the custom matchmaking is cool, the groups needed a revamp and the genre selection revamp makes sense.. W FOR ROBLOX!!

lots of good changes, and lots of changes that will very heavily depend on implementation. priced games could be better for developers and players if developers can offer it as an alternative to robux entry (so no buying excess robux in packages for the player) and developers have a more upfront pricing system that could pay them more, or roblox could fumble the bag and tax devs excessively so that devs dont want to use it or prices being high preset numbers so players lose out and devs dont see anyone actually use the function. similar things apply to the images/videos, revamping groups, elo, ai language stuff, etc etc. parties being readded seems nice though, if it actually works itd be nice to not have a headache just to play wth friends
i am cautiously optimistic but am looking forward to how they do

The new groups features are something I’ll welcome because groups have been really barebones with absolutely no useful ways for members to communicate, and the group wall was so outdated and featureless that it’s not even funny.
Fun fact: This is also the first meaningful update groups have gotten in 11 years (not counting group renaming since that’s pretty much cosmetic)

The group updates are something that has been desperately needed.
You wouldn’t believe how extremely outdated and neglected the groups feature has been; it’s been over a decade since the last meaningful update for groups.
at first i was worried about the ads but hopefully the only people who would actually use those are the shovelware games that are only there for money anyway. hoping the spoken text chat can be turned off because that sounds like it would get annoying pretty quickly tho. all the other stuffs pretty great besides AI avatars.

to me, Roblox friend limit being 200 is a ridiculous amount. this is because if you even have 200 friends your most definitely not even talking to 90% and never playing a game with them ever again. Even if you have that many active friends that you still play with, your not gonna be able to spend your time playing with each one of them.

both genres and group rebrands are in my opinion some of the best things revealed at the RDC however in my opinion they could have just already rebranded the web ui because without it roblox wouldnt really be so special and instead just one of the social medias no matter of the features (though that would be only on the website and desktop app), anyways I NEED THAT HALLOWEEN EVENT I NEED HALLOW'S EVE I NEED THE WITCHING HOUR 3.

If someone in the Star Creator Program is explointing then that's a whole another can of worms.
