How to Create a Download Link in WordPress (Download Files)

In this video, we're going to cover how to create a download link in WordPress, which will enable us to offer downloadable content to our viewers, with a simple click of a link (or button).
Worth Noting: We can use these download links with most types of files (PDF, images, videos, etc).

Well done Martie, another great and hugely helpful video. I will be using this a lot in about a month's time when I have rebuilt one of my sites. There is one thing I don't understand however, why is it necessary to compress whatever it is you want people to download?

In regards to your question... I never really questioned it until you posed this question! haha
I think it's probably just the way WordPress differentiates between files to show & files to download... Like there would never be a reason to SHOW a zipped file, but all of the other ones could be either something to SEE or DOWNLOAD.
I hope this makes sense... and if anyone reading this has a better answer, please feel free to join in on this! haha

it didn't work out quite the way you suggested but i was able to figure out clicking here and there in wordpress ..Finally i was able to add downloadable links to my blog ...one advice though zip files don't open in mobile phones so i guess visiters need to download zip file opener application from google play to open downloaded file (if its in zip)

Hi Marty. I followed your steps and embedded the link, but instead my Word Press site REDIRECTS users to another downloading page where they can find a separate download link. I am trying to skip this step and achieve an instant one-click download from the first link.
