    Hello. Tell me what type of soil such pines grow on. Bare sand?

      Thanks for the question! Longleaf needs bare mineral soil, which can be anything from wet loamy to sand. So it tolerates both wet and xeric conditions--as long as it is on mineral soil.

      Can you tell me which rootstock I can choose for the Martinez pine (Pinus maximartinezii)?
      Are Pinus ponderosa, Pinus sibirica, Pinus sylvestris suitable as rootstock?
      Or can Pinus maximartinezii be grafted only on other pine species? For example, growing in similar conditions, on the same continent? I wonder if anyone has done anything like this?
