Rebuilding Lives After Earthquakes: The Story of a Dairy Producer, Nihal Yaşar

UNDP has provided cash grants to women entrepreneurs whose businesses have been damaged or destroyed by the earthquakes through its Sweden-funded grant programme. In the pilot phase that has been conducted in Kahramanmaraş specifically targeting women enterprises, 257 women business owners have restored their operations. As part of the more comprehensive regional grant programme, 4,633 small businesses, of which 42 percent are women-owned, are receiving grants in all 11 earthquake-affected provinces.
A dairy producer Nihal Yaşar is one of these 257 women entrepreneurs who reopened their businesses in Kahramanmaraş after the earthquakes. Despite temporarily pausing her work after the earthquakes, she returned to her village, picking up where she left off in both her business and her life.
