That mic should have something Turner called a "Switch kit" installed. It's a third leaf switch installed in the mic that switches off the receive and kills that feedback and what sounds like talkback. The only way to get one nowadays is if the mic had one installed back when they were being sold new (1970's and maybe early 80's). If you download the turner wiring book any of the radios listed with "requires Sw.K" in the wiring guide for that radio your out of luck. I just looked in my book and in the Cobra section the newest radios listed are 138xlr and 139xlr and all of the cobras are 4 pin mic plugs but all of them require the "switch kit" installed so I would think you would need it for all the 5 pin radios ie. 2000. When Turner brought out the +3B (the black +3) it came with the switch preinstalled and the Relay electronic switch removed. You will either have to find another +3 with 3 switches in it or just get the +3B. Your mic is still good for many radios but not ones that rely on the receive to be switched by the mic. Sorry this was rather longwinded. Good luck.
@@DanielKE7UUMMikes radio repair has a remedy for this, Iam having the same issue. There is an electric relay powered by the 9v battery, the wiring is quite simple, all the relay does is disconnect the audio from the ground and takes the third switches place, exactly what the guy commenting above is talking about. I just ordered the relay from Amazon so I can get my Turner straightened out.
@@indianachrisUDX1313I have D104 (silver neck, black base), needs a plug wired on to work again. I use it on my Cobra142GTL. I actually have like 5 mics that need wired. Sadly dealing with severe Cataracts and can not see to do that.
That a common problem when you use a 4 wire mic on a 5 wire radio the grounds for the receiver and transmitt are not correct You need a ground to receive and a ground to cut receive Adirondack out during transmitt a pulse three can’t do that. But a plus 3B can it a 6 wire mic with different wired contacts BT long story short what you have a a common problem on uniden/ cobra 5 wire radios
Turn the other radio u are useing to monitor ur audio those mics are very high impeadance turn mic gain on radio all the way up turn mic gain on mic at just barley cracked open
I would agree something is not right. Even though it's working it's working. I've actually heard my son when he used it. And until recently I've been having issues with my eyesight so I haven't had a chance to look at it.
You need to send that splattered radio to Ground control 204, man that thing is rough no matter what mic you use. Hack mods and bad techs you really need to stay away from. 73rd
That blue diamond plate looks cool.
Someone mentioned, it goes well with my handle :)
My favorite mic
That Turner Plus 3 is 10 times the mic the D104 is.... if you wire it properly. And YES, it needs to be on electronic.
10 times? Okay!

Well at least this radio doesn't have a swing kit in it, every time you put a swing kid in the radio it makes them a splatter Box.
@DanielKE7UUM I love a splatter box the more it splatters the better it is👍
