Very informative! My husband, myself and our three year old will be going on the ship very soon, we have booked in for the Fahrenheit 555° restaurant as a family for one of the nights as we have on board credit to use. The kids club for her age looks amazing too!
Hey guys what an awesome video. My wife and I have cruised on the spirit seems there is a lot similar but your video has sealed the deal for our trip next year Dec 2025. Thanks so much…not sure about an internal but.. thanks again
I am glad that the Splendor which is now older style Carnival still measured up to be a good value vacation you enjoyed...thanks for your delightful candid review...sounds like a nice thing to do even if taking a longer land visit to Aussie land to get some sea time and some difference in perspective and places to visit.
We loved the Thermal Suite but we went around 8pm at night. Not many people in the Thermal Spa some nights but most nights, nobody. The stone lounges were hot but using a towel made the very comfortable. We stayed there all up for about an hour each night. We had a Cloud Nine Spa Cabin for an 11 day cruise. Carnival Splender was a great ship.
I'm 40 and I've NEVER gone on a cruise before but my dad and I are about to take this exact trip, 4 nights, to Moreton Bay in January. This told me a LOT of what I want to know!👍
This ship was our very first cruise way back in 2012. We have been on 10 more since. We fell in love with cruising on the Solendor. It was the perfect amount of fun and relaxation for us. I loved the dance clubs, comedy clubs and the thermal suites. That thallasotherapy spa was the best!❤❤ also it did not have Guys burgers back then but the steak house is top notch.
My wife and I have just returned from a 10 day cruise on Carnival Splendor. I think it was the same cruise as this one. New Caledonia was ruled out due to the recent political upheaval. In past times, they would have diverted to Suva to make up the difference-no more of that though. Overall, I would give it an 7/10 value for money but only if you skip the extras and specialty meals (lamb chops $38 (!), a steak over $70, a beer $12-a total rip-off, a cocktail, $18, Chef’s special $155 a person). Beer/alcohol used to be wholesale/duty free once you exited The Heads-not any more! Carnival go to extremes to extract every cent they can from you as quickly as possible but I am not against that. It’s a personal choice. Make sure you take your own tea and coffee like many do. Theirs is battery acid! Carnival want to steer you to their $5 coffee shop. If you want good tea you have to buy a Tetley’s tea bag from them-$4 thanks. Talk about penny pinching! Good fish in the buffet? Expect Basa and Tilapia-both at the bottom of the taste scale. Not even a salt water fish! Ham, Corned beef in the buffet? No way-Devon! Butter? No. Some creamy concoction instead which tastes nothing like butter. Live music and bands have been downgraded to backing tapes in the auditorium. That said. Very enjoyable but imbibe in the complimentary fare which is quite good. The move to 'specialty everything' is a con job. $75 for a steak is just crazy. We cruise regularly and probably would have spent $120-$150 on grog if the prices were fair. We are reasonably well off but I refuse to be ripped off. It is the principle so they got Zilch out of us for drinks. They must have some weird bean counters at Carnival/P and O. They probably get their grog wholesale and duty free anyway. I noticed hundreds of people in the auditorium-mostly drinking water! Photographs will cost you a fortune. We always tip but on my next cruise I am thinking of handing letters to the Purser, Head of Housekeeping and the Maître D explaining we are not tipping anymore but using our tips for things that used to be complimentary but now they charge extra for….. And the staff-Fantastic!
Have to agree about the upsell. Lots of optional extras. We didn’t feel the need to upgrade generally but really wanted to try out the Steakhouse otherwise we would been quite happy with the restaurant food. Drinks did feel pricey. The bottomless Bubbles package was worth it as an extra just because of how much alcohol we avoiding buying!!!
As someone who's 16 (going to be 17 by the time of the cruise), I'm so glad they have options! I remember I went on a carnival cruise back in 2017 or so and they had no options for people between the ages of 15-17, was seriously worried about that
Cruised with Carnival many times and the Splendor we have been on a couple times we are booked on her again this coming March for the 4 night cruise that you was on.
Awww thanks :) Only the hot tubs were heated sadly. It didn’t feel too bad, there was a little queuing for very popular events but honestly it wasn’t an issue and our cruise was full. Apparently it was bad early on disembarkation day but we left quite late and it was easy.
You can only eat once in the main dining room I think, but you can book any of the additional restaurants and you can use the buffet anytime it’s open!
Was the $118 thermal pass just for the length of the cruise, or just a day? I'm on the Splendor later this year and am wondering if booking before departure is cheaper than on board. Thanks for the detailed video 👍
That was the price per person for the length of the cruise - we bought it from the spa in day 1 which was discounted, but I don’t know what the price was if you bought it advance I’m afraid! Hope you have a blast!!
Where on the ship would you recommend to settle in for several hours of relaxing with a view and a book? I was planning on going back on a p&o again but now that's not going to be an option. I'm suspecting this ship will be what i end up on. Would appreciate your suggestions so i can look them up on the ship map. Cheers
On the LIDO Deck (Deck 9), Serenity adults only area at the back is pretty good, with a bar and no kids. Alternatively, Deck 12 forward is really quiet, with loungers and tables on both sides of the ship, but there's no local bar here. There are also a number of blue covered day-beds on deck 11, which are great but they can get quite busy. If you are looking for complete peace, some of the accomodation decks (6,7 & 10 I think) have space out the front beyond the cabins. These are the quietest place on the ship, but there are no loungers - just a wooden bench. Great when you want to hide from everything though!!
My mums on there. Cold food apparently Not a big selection foodwise Got a baked potato for breakfast Cold shower in the morning- working on the pipe apparently. Had to get the drinks package because other room-mate wanted the drinks package, it go's to the room not the person. Doesn't make any sense. 30 people got off at Brisbane and told them to get f.ed
It was so bad she arrived back at Brisbane crying. She's sick as a dog, she barely ate anything because the food was so bad. Woke up to no water, no hot water multiple times. There were crews grinding handrails while a cruise ship was holidaying. This ship was going in for its renovation. That company has completely ripped off an entire ship. Do not ever get on her entire group hated it.

We booked on Carnival Splendor in May 2019 for a Mexican Riviera cruise before the ship was sent to Singapore and Australia. We had plans to take the repositioning cruise but family events prevented us from doing so. That was our first cruise in 28 years after a disastrous cruise on Costa. We were surprised at how great the food was and the service was excellent. We liked the great number of INCLUDED food options. That Indian place was the best that we had. Our only complaint was that the entertainment looked like it was put together for a frat boy audience. The cruise staff loved to use the f-bomb and it was not our taste. We have not done a Carnival cruise since 2019 but we have an 8 day Caribbean cruise scheduled on the Carnival Magic in March. Since our last cruise on Carnival, we have tried five other lines. We find HAL, Princess, and Celebrity to be more to our taste. However, we rate Carnival over Royal Caribbean and NCL.
I think im in the same SHIP with you, if it "sydney 8-17july 2024" , i have BAD EXPERIENCE with "THE GUEST SERVICE DESK staff ".... ooohh they RUDE and not friendly n NO SMILE FACE ! and asking me to DELETE the video i've been recorded just because there they face on my camera, they said "theres a rules u cannot take pic/video of staff " , and i should fighting for asking " a pencil n a piece of paper" for my 2 yo kid.... , i dont know how many pencil can i get for $7000 ....(the cost for stay in this 9days cruise) , my 1st time cruise with carnival ....and absolutely BYE for this ship.
Sorry to hear that. We were on a different trip and our only interaction with guest services was to sneak into Fahrenheit 555, which they did happily. Hope the rest of your trip was good!
Oh no, that’s such a shame you didn’t have a great experience. Please don’t let it put you off cruising, there are some amazing ships out there, you just need to find which cruise line suits you best.
Maybe it's the fact there's zero hand sanitising. I went on a royal carribean cruse in 2016 way before the C word. They made you wash you hands before entering the food area. It was not an option.
@takamae. 100%. We noticed only about 20 hand sanitising station throughout the whole ship... half of which were empty or not working. Disgusting attitude from Carnival considering the deaths they caused a few years ago. Never again.
Overall the Splendor does reasonable job as a cruise ship but the decor is hideous beyond belief. It's not groovy or funky it's just bad. God knows what they were thinking with this ship. Apparently it's a one off in the Carnival fleet. I think they didn't know what to do with it so they hid it down in Australia.
If I’m honest, Carnival Spirit wasn’t much better lol. Can you imagine what the designers must have been thinking with these two lol. Still, it makes for a fun cruise.

Such a comprehensive video! Interior cabin looks a good value option as you’re hardly in there!!! 🥂💃🏼

We were really impressed with the teen areas, they look like a great space to hang out. Have a brilliant cruise.
our first cruise was on our honeymoon cruise on the Splendor out of Long Beach to Mexico back in 2009 - she was a great ship
