As a Picopresso owner can say the sweetspot for the original basket is somewhere between 16-18g. For lighter roasts I'd suggest going expresso fine (1 revolution + position 7 or slightly coarser on the 1zpresso JMAX) and sticking with 16g. Personally upgraded the basket to a 52 mm IMS competition basket and it greatly improved the expresso quality, more even extraction, less channeling and easier to dial in the pumping to get the best pressure profile. Would love if there was a pressure gauge... guess we can't get everything with this small footprint and relatively low cost.

could you put the link where you bought the ims basket? Ive been looking for one to upgrade my picopresso but still can’t find it!

52 mm? I thought only 51 mm baskets were compatible..

Hi can I please know what is the time that you aimed for? Let’s say starting from the first pump.
Also, do you tamp again after removing the ring?
      Thanks

    Hello
As a long distance bicycle tourer and regular user of the Picopresso on tour, I really enjoyed your clear, informative review. As an older person, however, I would recommend the 2 hand method of pumping using the palm of my right hand to push the piston while the left holds and provides counterforce to the unit. For those us with osteoarthritis creeping into our joints, there is risk of injury to the thumb using the single hand technique. Thanks again for the fabulous review.
    Alex

There's a stand for the steadiness issue, plus wacacco has a pressure gauge for it now too

Nice review, really like to sit down with my coffee and watch your channel. This time I will skip the giveaway tho. I do not have a grinder for espresso. But if you will have the possibility to do a grinder giveaway I would be super interested ;)

Is it important to pump out the remaining pre-heat water (as in 7:02) or just pour out the water from the top of the tank?

Hello!!! Love my Pico... My question is: would buying the cafelat robot be pointless now that i have a Pico? Or is better enough that its justified????

    • @benjaminbouaoune4466
      @benjaminbouaoune4466 2 месяца назад

I have the pico at work and robot at home. The workflow is way faster and easier on the robot. No pre heating, no screwing. PF makes it easy to attach and wash.
I would say robot is also more forgiving, as you can press with precision, reading the gauge. And adapt as you go.
It's less messy, easy to aim in the cup.
Robot is also more consistent and precise. And allows more diversity/methods of extractions (no preinfusion or short / long PI, low pressure, turboshots, ramping slow, ... etc)
Pico presso might be the best portable expresso maker, but robot for me is the best expresso maker at home
Also, picopresso with all upgrades (puckscreen, ims basket, stand, gauge) comes close to the price of a robot. Wich doesnt need any of those
