After the habib fight, Gaythje's mental confident drop a bit and would've finish Chandelier in the 4th round. I am a huge Gaetje fan, But I will always feel that Ferguson's mental health truly affected his training and preparation, and then of course ultimately his performance... As it was, Gaethje was far more controlled here than in previous fights, due to Tonya scary rep at the time. So nonsense. After that uppercut, Justin was quick to defend. He smile and praised Tony for the punch.
Justin really has an iron chin too, check out his match against Michael Johnson. Tony has a very weak punch, his hands are as small as 2 toothpicks.
@Renaldo MatadeenI never actually said Tony would beat him.
Learn to read.
The most scary part of "fight island" is you can hear each punch / kick from Gaethje landing. That sound is horrifying in and of itself, now imagine you're on the recieving end of those. YIKES.
Tony has fought. Gaethje (top 5), Oliveira (Champ), Beneil (top 5) and next he's fighting Chandler (top 5).
Nothing but respect.
And he is gonna get cut from the UFC is he loses to Chandler according to DW. While Sam Alvey who is 0-7-1 in last 8 fights against much worse competition will still get one more chance. Crazy!
@@e.a.poecrnimacak354 damnnn Dana really said that? That's unfair cause Tony has been fed killers
Tony is like Hooker and Peptit. They always fight the top guys and always lose.
@@tinhlam2826 tony always loses? He got old. He used to never lose, he went 15-1 in the UFC (not counting the ultimate fighter wins), and on a 12 fight win streak in LIGHTWEIGHT out of all divisions.
@@aleksanderboci9059 he only quin bad enemi
How did he not drop like 13 different times. Love both these guys!
Tony fergoson is brave fighter, atlest 15 strong punches his face but never down

UFC 249 was iconic, at the peak of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Justin Gaethje vs Tony Ferguson was a war, masterclass performance by Justin 👏👏👏👏
One fight I'll never forget I felt bad for Tony to tough for his own good.Hes been one of my favorite fighters for a long time. Nate vs Tony let's do it should have happend long time ago.
One of the happiest moment of UFC.
JUSTIN GAETHJE 💪💪
I'm pretty convinced Ferguson was running on willpower by the time the 4th round came. Gaethje's raw power when swinging just feels like something you can't teach. Luckily, he has one of the best striking coaches in MMA to refine his technique.
This was one of the first main events with no fans and it was quite a spectacle. Loved this clip
Tony Absorbed too much shots... When I thought he is done, he kept going... My respect for Tony 🚀 z legend!!!
Casuals say Chandelier survives that storm and goes the distance with Gaythje. What they don't realize is that this was a 5 round champ fight and the best Gaythje there is than a 3 round bout with Chandelier. After the habib fight, Gaythje's mental confident drop a bit and would've finish Chandelier in the 4th round. During the 3rd round 3 mins before the end he's taking easy on Chandeleir, he's just watching Chandelier plays in the octagon, horsing around and looking at the time.
Hats off to Tony for such toughness
That uppercut from tony was flawless
Heartbreaking fight
Gaethje is one of the very few guys who needs to get a mandatory rematch on every single fight he loses. He is more than worthy. One of the best fighters of all time UFC. His fight resume is very impressive.
PAIN
I am a huge Gaetje fan, But I will always feel that Ferguson's mental health truly affected his training and preparation, and then of course ultimately his performance...
I don't have stamps, but remember several moments in both the Gaethje fight and the Oliveira fight, that there was timing errors and defense errors that didn't happen in previous fights where his training was more complete.
As it was, Gaethje was far more controlled here than in previous fights, due to Tonya scary rep at the time.
I truly wish Tony would have had a complete camp...this fight would have been an Epic for the Ages instead of a fairly brutal beating.
Yeah dude he definitely doesnt look as punch drunk and chin testable anymore, khabib was right youre never going to be the same after something like this…. Psyche and confidence play into it. But hey maybe he proves us wrong with Chandler as he just battered by Justin too
Most heartbreaking moment in UFC
Thats wath khabib says, dustin and justin is top ufc fighters
He really beat the shit out of him though 🫤
This guy Gaethje is the most exciting fighter I have ever seen and I have seen every bout of the last 30 or so years.
I remember seeing this live.. I was so hyped man, I saw tony start off slow but then he catches him with that uppercut! Was screaming and wishing Tony had another minute. But I truly had a hard time watching tony take this punishment. When he got caught with the fight ending jab we have never seen anyone react the way he did. So much punishment and still has heart of a champion! Real fans love tony. You casuals missed his run man honestly...
NUKE STOP BRAGGING NOBODY CARES

Yes, great words, man! Tony was an elite fighter for sure. It was heartbreakin' to see him lose like this. He is one of my favs
Pretty much everyone sooner or later has one of those days where something massive happens and it changes everything about you, and no matter how much you fight it or try to deny it, it changes how you think, how and whether or not you react both offensively and defensively to our environment and even our truest deepest most honest belief in whether or not you can do something you've always believed beyond any shadow of a doubt, you can do. For Tony Ferguson, that day was May 9, 2020.
well said
2:42 I completely forgot about that moment, I genuinely remembered this as COMPLETELY (as in 100%) one sided but Justin was rocked there no doubt. Tony's fights are so weird. I wish we coulda saw Tony throw sand at Khabib 😢
Man, you can see it on Justin's face and in his demeanor - he didn't want to have to hit him any more. Brutal.
2:43 the moment when Tony vs Khabib almost happened
I think Tony was the only one who could defeat Khabib
I don't think khabib was ready fo the style tony has
@@wojtekz9634 OMG you have to think before talking
@@wojtekz9634 like charles can takdown smah tony khabib gonna ragdoll him
@@wojtekz9634 when i have seen khabib making gaethje run a marathon with his jab, i doubt tony will ever close range with his unorthodox striking, not to mention justin and dustin are better than him for that and they barely find spots to land.
@@samyhb0796 did you shit yourself? 😐
Tony got hurt early in the second round and never recovered. What a warrior to stay in there as long as he did the way Gaethje was boxing him up.
Justin Gaethje literally hit like a truck 🚛. 🔥🔥
Tony was really trying his hardest to show Gaethje he wasn't getting hurt but Gaethje just hits so god damn hard you can't even try to deny it.
In my opinion it was the most violent fight ever
yup
Idc if I'm called a casual, but I've watched a lot of UFC and this is my all time favorite fight. The zero crowd adds a lot of suspense on such a brutal standup fight!
Tony has one of most incredible chins. Dude could probably take a hit from Francis Nganou and live to tell the story.
I keep rewatching this hoping a different outcome
El cucuy one of the best to ever do it
This is by far the worst beating I’ve ever seen in MMA, even worse than the Ortega ones.
Way worse, any one of the shots Tony absorbed likely would’ve ended up in a ko
I live Gaethje's style, he's causes a lot of pain. As for tony Ferguson, nothing but respect.
Nothing makes me respect a fighter more (and want them paid more) than when they absorb the type of punishment that makes us fans realize just the type of savagery being an elite UFC fighter entails...
Gaethje is a freaking beast, that's all I can say, absolute freaking beast. What a fight.
If Tony had 20 more seconds at the end of round 2 he would’ve been champ instead of Justin!
lol
Nailed it 👌
Damnit Ferg are you on another bot account causing trouble again? Just stop bro the brain damage has gone to your head....
Shut up, honestly.
Yeah, and if I had wheels I'd be a wagon. Neither of those things are true though.
At least they gave hug at the end,I very proud about it.
Tony was getting smashed by Justin the fight should of been stopped early
His ancestors felt some of those Bunches
I am in Pain watching it
Aaaaay
Imagine landing power shots for four and a half rounds and then getting the finish with a jab.
Yeah man .... Coz he jabbed with the OH right in this fight 😜😜😜
I fucking don't want to see this fight. I just paused the video to post this.
