I hope that the USB to USB-C adapter I also ordered with the M4 will work with the 5TB external hard drive I use for my TimeMachine backups. For me, it was time for an upgrade.

I was hoping for maybe an iMac Pro that was 5K 27" with an M4 Pro/Max/Ultra under the hood to replace my ageing 2013 iMac 27" lol. Might just bite the bullet and get a 4K display and connect it to my M3 MacBook Pro and retire this old faithful thing. Maybe they'll release a new M4 Mini that could fit the bill instead. I do like having a desktop AND a laptop for flexibility.
My set-up: MacBook Air M3 + Apple Studio Display as "desktop config". In clamshell mode with Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad and Logitech MX Master 3S Mouse (I can't stand the Magic Mouse). M4 iPad Pro for the "on the go" side of life (and sometimes as an auxiliary display with Universal Control even though I'm a "one Display person").
