Season 2 Episode 9 was really the moment i realised this show was truly great, they took a character who had been the most calm, intelligent and genteel person in the whole show, brought to the front all the anger, frustration, and sorrow she had held back for a decade, and let in explode, only to cut them down in a seeming moment of triumph; and to in not uncertain terms let us know that the death would reverberate throughout the rest of the series. That was when I knew how serious this series was about characters, their story, their actions, and the world around them.
Teach's death and that WHOLE FUCKING SITUATION, such as boarding a suspicious ship with people when you could just, oh, I don't know, use your fucking Man of War to blow it to pieces is... some amazing writing right there.
Well, if we are going to do this, fine. This, right here, my friend is fiction, just like Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is, go read something about Teach sometimes. Here's just a part, about his death and how it went down, many more details can be found with a simple google search: "Maynard later examined Teach's body, noting that it had been shot no fewer than five times and cut about twenty. He also found several items of correspondence, including a letter to the pirate from Tobias Knight. Teach's corpse was thrown into the inlet while his head was suspended from the bowsprit of Maynard's sloop so that the reward could be collected." So, there was no tying Blackbeard up in real life, dragging him along the hull of the boat and him surviving that, not once, not twice, but three times, with Rackham and the rest of the crew standing there, there was much more chaos and confusion to what happened, even in official history as "we know it", and nobody knows for certain, but we all know it didn't go down as shown in a television show. The scene was poorly written, they had absolutely no reason whatsoever to board that ship and try to take out the governor. There was no reason to send just one row boat of people to that ship, whatsoever, considering they were sailing a fucking Man of war. It was real shitty writing, to exaggerate, raise the stakes and show just how truly evil Governor Woodes Rodgers truly is. Shit, i'm out.
I didn't say that the scene was unrealistic, I was saying that the circumstances they were in didn't require for ANY number of launches sent to the Governors ship. Whether it was Eleanor or Rodgers, Blackbeard wanted them dead, and in that moment, a strategic move would be to -- if the ship is obviously suspicious as fuck since there is no one on board -- blow it to bits using the canons. Blackbeard would be alive, Anne would be fine, Rodgers would be dead and Spain wouldn't ever raid Nassau, everything would have been different.
Well often you can see the limits of their budget (still massive though) , but its very well written and the stories are really good!! When in other shows they talk too much and it feels just padding here it doesn't...
I will stand by the fact this show is the most perfect series made. Not over produced, not drawn out by greedy production companies and a brilliant story
The disappointment and heartache of the Game of Thrones finale had me start watching Black Sails... boy that was the best decision I ever made. Love your vid soooo much, it really captured the struggle and strife of the show, but also the victorious moments as well. Amazing job.
I was disappointed with Black Sails final season. Not because it was a train wreck like Game of Thrones, but because I feel they had more story to tell and that they were forced (as opposed to choosing to shorten the series) to reach the end point they had intended. Such a fantastic show that I think could have used a little more room to breathe out it's final season. I think 5 seasons would have been perfect. Still the final season didn't bring down the brilliance of the preceding seasons like GoT did.
@@dereklarson5322 I agree. They needed a bit more time for the divide and reconciliation between Flint and Silver at the end. It was still done well, but it suffered from a lack of minutes.
The first time Flint and Charles were side by side in Charles town. . .that, is when this show shifted. Where we all saw what this show was meant to be, and the meaning they tried to convey. Part of me wishes they had made it grander. That after Nassau fell to the Spaniards a second time and when all the Pirates and Maroons gathered together, I wished Flint would have lead them in histories greatest battle against the world. Against the Spanish and the English alike, truly United. No inner turmoil, and that every man and woman who fought understood that their war was to be a war of freedom. And it was not so. . . But I still have the utmost respect, for every. Single. Character, in this film. And it makes my heart sing now that it is over.

Black Sails is by far my favorite series! I still watch to this video to remember the masterpiece it is and build the vibe to start watching all over again!
This show is one of the best series that ive ever seen, not only that, its definitely one of the best shows from the last decades, so sad it never got the popularity of TWD or GOT, definitely deserved it, it is so greatly done even after 4 seasons, its beautiful 'til the last episode

I think this is your best video and also the best Black Sails video I have ever seen. I love the show and I love Mumford & Sons so much, this is a perfect fit. I watch it almost regularly. In my opinion, Flint is one of the best characters on TV and last Saturday, incredibly, I was able to say that to Toby Stephens himself (I´m still over the moon :))

he really is, easily my favorite character on the show right now, his arc in Season 2 has been absolutely brilliant! and he's so unpredictable and he just never ever disappoints lol.
I know the likelihood of you reading this is very slim but is there any chance you could do another tribute to this show with this song. It just fits the atmosphere and themes of Black sails so well. This is my favorite show of all time and although I love many of the tributes that are out right now (especially your Flesh and Bones tribute) I dont feel like there is one that quite does this show justice.
