    Hey Jade. Thanks for putting up this video. I researched about this topic a lot and lastly found your video. Thanks for the effort Jade.
    I am a joint PhD Student with two universities (India and Australia). In India the PhD work is intertwined with teaching assistantship which is not mentioned anywhere. However, we can get writing by the departmental head and Phd Supervisor stating our teaching assistantship during the period of study. IN this case, can I use my PhD as my work experience? Looking forward to hearing from you.

      Hi there,
      Thank you! Most applicants will apply directly to the colleges or universities, the institutions usually have their own Immigration Consultant who will help you through your work permit process.

    Do they consider JRF under NOC 4012? The title is different but roles are the same. In India its generally called as Junior Research Fellow and not TA/RA. Also, after my PhD I joined as a faculty in a university. he NOC is 4011. These are related though not exactly the same. Can I combine this entire work ex and show that its around 6 years (with a 3 year break in between-2012 to 2016 and then 2019 till 2021)?

    Hi Jade. I'm an international PhD student in the United States on an F1 visa (non-US, non-Canadian citizen). I completed my undergraduate degree in Physics and Mathematics in Texas and have been in my PhD program in Illinois for the past 3 years. For 3 years in undergrad, I worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant for 20hr/week, every week, from August 2017 to May 2020. I then worked as either a Graduate RA/TA from August 2020 to present (my contract specifies that I must work for 20 hours/week, and I do). Will my work experience be counted for 3 years or more of full time work experience (as I worked for ~6 years part time)? Also, will it be all right for my to apply under TEER 1, NOC 21100 or must it be under TEER 1, NOC 41201? Many thanks!

    Hello Jade. I have a question, the vacational periods between semesters as lecturer are a problem to be counted as uninterrupted work experience since they are not paid?

    • @JadeCalver
      @JadeCalver  2 года назад +1

      Hi Jessica,
      It depends on what your university work experience letter says, and under which program you’re applying. If you're applying under CEC, breaks don’t matter as long as you have the required hours, if you only qualify under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, then you will need 1 year of continuous work.

    Hi Jade,thanks for sharing. I have a question. Is it easy to find a teaching assistant job online in Canada? I mean normally if the day care center is willing to offer the employment to a foreign national exempt? Because I am think if it's necessary to apply the job through agency.

    • @JadeCalver
      @JadeCalver  5 лет назад

      Hi Lei Shi. This is a hard question to answer. It really depends on where you're searching for jobs, what your qualifications are, how skilled you are, etc. I would recommend using Canadian job search boards to see what types of jobs are available.

    Hello Jade. I am a University Lecturer in my home country, I have worked for seven years, but in those seven years I completed a Master's and a PhD. All in the institution I work. But we have a system where you get a fellowship and your tuition is paid by your institution, but you must continue to work full time (while you write up your thesis and prepare a couple of Seminar papers) after the first study year and you get a monthly salary depending on your grade level. You get a promotion every three years if you qualify (you meet the requirements). I have been promoted twice. Do you think this work experience counts? Please reply. This video is the closest to my questions. Thank you

    Hi, currently my husband is an associate professor in Algeria, here they only consider the teaching hours in the official full time job description, so he's working around 12 hours a week, which makes the 1560 hours of work experience just unreachable! how can he deal with this problem?
    We are not aware of any legal texts that gives an official rate of conversion from teaching hours to "normal work" hours.
