    Great video!
I've been enjoying your videos so much lately. Thank you for creating such inspiring videos!
I couldn't help but try to clear out some of the questions you had because I am a translator.

The characters under 31st December, it says "Omisoka" which means 31st of December, "New Year's Eve" in Japanese.

The symbol on the Hobonichi cousin, you guessed right, it is "a guy with big ears". It's a symbol of the man who produced Hobonichi, the owner of the company. He is a very well known copywriter/creative director in Japan and one of his characteristics is his "big ears", more accurately, his ears that're facing front, not side... if that makes any sense...
And you said that you love the cover of English hobonichi and are not a big fan of Japanese version of hobonichi cover. That's only natural, because English version is designed to use it without the cover (of course it's your choice to use it with a cover too) as opposed to the Japanese version, which is designed to use it with a cover, like you choose your clothes, you can choose the cover for it from the line-ups every year.
Hobonichi English version is specially designed by this stylist/select shop owner in Japan. I think she wanted to make more "chic" and "simpler" version of hobonich, as opposed to original Japanese hobonichi, which added "fun" aspect to the business planner line-ups back in 2002.
Sorry for the long comment. If there are any other things you would like to know in terms of Japanese I'd be more than happy to answer!

Great video! Extremely helpful. I've been using the Hobonichi Techo Cousin for the last couple of years, which I love. But would really love an English version...because I'm actually partial to the A5 size. I also use all of the spreads, which the Cousin includes. However, I am considering the Hobonichi A6 in English. Especially now that I'm aware of the additional Weekly calendar. Thanks!

across the top of the hobonichi cousin--year at a glance page---you have 2017 then the kanji characters for Heisei era 29. The current era in Japan. This era started after the death of Emperor Hirohito in 1989. (平成 29年) next it says Year of the cock or Rooster. ( 酉年)and finally at the very end in the box--it says this year( 今年) . I am studying Japanese. I am just a beginner so I haven't figured out the quotes or the information in the back. But I really like that the Hobonichi has so much Japanese. It helps reinforce my lessons. I am looking forward to using it. How has it been working for you so far?

i was hoping they'd add the weekly pages to the hobonichi techo this year but they didn't . i don't like how big the cousin is but i also don't like to have an extra book for weekly pages as a supplement for the A6 (it would be better if it was the same size as the Techo, but it's smaller ) i really can't decide which one to get. i don' t mind the language, i'd get the japanese version anyway. i was thinking of adding an extra weekly page every 7 days (maybe attach it with washi tapes).

Personally, I think A6 would be better suited to the weekly layout of the Weeks.
