Thanks for another great video! My motto is if you are going to try and push me into going faster then I am going to push you into going slower. Driving a Luton obviously I have more control over the drive and conditions than a HGV but saying that I never seem to have problems with HGV'S it is always the small minded car driver that disappears out of the view of my mirrors! As you said in your video the speed limit may be what it is but it does not always allow for debris in the road, sharp bends and protruding trees and bushes etc. So I refuse to be pushed and just slow down making the drive safer for me and safer for them. Strange thing is 9 out of 10 vehicles that appear on the rear view horizon and in a split second are dangerously tailgating you tend to be turning off within half a mile anyway, obviously locals that know the road.
Wise words indeed, especially on a very wet road. My Dad said the same to me when I had L plates, on his car in 1968, which aggravates people more. That tipper could probably have passed you on the long straights at 6:08 and 6:58. The A95 is not very wide for a main road!
I was driving my car with four friends in on way back from day out , the particular road I was on I had difficulty seeing as it was heavy rain and head lights coming other way meant I could only go 45 in a 60 speed limit. This massive lorry came up behind me almost touching my car and kept sounding his horn and flashing his full beam which totally blinded me. He frightened my passengers, this went on for miles till we got too the motorway where I could see better so I put my foot down and left him so now I’m very nervous of lorries behind me when driving 😢
Go as fast as the conditions allow for you to stop in the distance that you can see. If it's wet it's gonna take you longer to stop. You may be able to take a bend at 40 but what's round the corner?
totally agree with you cant let bully drivers force you go fast and that what cause accidents. Like you say need hold your course 40mph, weather conditions, road condition, unfamiliar roads and doesnt matter what time you get there. That tipper you mention should know better to stick the speed limit but like him and other drivers dont care about. And want to get on with it they try to get there quicker but makes them more late ever to get that place. That is why you get unprofessional truck drivers who ends up causing accidents by trying to get there. I will be hitting the road soon and stay my ground. Because I have over one million experience not irl but on truck games like ETS2. Great videos and looking forward to the next one. Oh one thing to mention keep that Lane departure warning on and dont turn it off because is safety reason to keep your truck on the road and reminds you are going off. Only because wheels touches the white line
Lane departure is for when you're falling asleep, if you can't keep it between the lines using your eyes 👀 there's something wrong with your space perception. All this electronic stuff is data collection, automated gear shifts, adaptive cruise and now cameras for mirrors (a computer can't see through a mirror) automated trucks are coming and new drivers should realise they'll be redundant by 2030, possibly?
Big up Barry👍 mate the amount of lorries that overtake me on the A roads when I’m driving up Scotland is crazy, most these roads are tight and they still overtake us like a Nigel Mansell on crack cocaine, another top vid Barry 👍
How can you look at your mirrors that fast, I did hgv training for couple of days and I couldn't master the looking at mirror in a split second . I was really just moving my head and gesturing.
I can't understand the suicidal mentality of some drivers, and it seems it's the majority of them too. They want to be shown the photographs that first responders take when they have to turn up to a gig. I'm talking spilt intestines and brain matter and torn off limbs. F king idiots and clowns and muppets are what we professionals have to put up with day in day out.
AFTER 33 yrs LGV driving + vans, cars ,+ motorcycles YOU GET use to dorks on the road . YOU get good & bad in any trade IS not scotland still 40 mph (A) roads .
I applaud your courtesy to others but if your not driving a slow moving vehicle and driving at the speed limits then I wouldn't be to worried about another lorry wanting past especially not a tipper BUT to then see him Parkes up at the bakers as you trundle past 😂😂
By the way - the driver was a law breaker so at some point his tacho will tell all and that's the end of that drovers license! one less Ares hole driving 44 tonnes
Some tipper drivers think because they’ve watched the film Hell Drivers it’s the way they have to drive !
As a retired HGV driver I love your videos, because it takes me back of all the routes I used to travel, and your a good driver/ person 👍

You'd make a great HGV Instructor!

Tasteing whisky, come, out pissed as a fart 😅😅😅
I either stick to the speed limits or what feels right due to road conditions. I'm paid by the hour so I just let them crack on past...

@@Rob-on-the-Road I agree with you
First time I’ve heard a bit rage……….prick 😂😂😂
Driving for wren kitchens and our speeds are monitored and bonuses effected if we don’t adhere to,speed limits

Some people must trust your eyes a lot . I think i maybe saw you going through Biggar 1 evening last week
Good man
Well said - the tipper driver behind want's to break the speed limit - that's not your problem?
I always go by the rule that the speed restrictions are limits… not targets 😁

By the way cocker they're chevrons not zebras. They're put at accident spots, generally by order of the coroner. 👍
There is no such thing as a bad bend , or road. Accidents happen due to idiots going to fast on approach.
liking your vlogs and some drivers should not be on the road
Whiskey trial 😊

Wise up. 🙄
C'mon man, what law did he break? The speed limit was upped to 50 in England and Wales for the same roads? 🤣
