It’s sad that at end of the song they say be bold and find your talent. They all have to look the exact same but want to stand out from being talented. As much as a weird scene this is, i think the ladies were kind of sweet here. Despite being so different from them, they did their best to help her fit in as much as they could without hurting her so she could belong. She was only fully rejected when the head miss denounced her.
I've only seen this part of the movie, but yeah, they're surprisingly okay with her being there. Most animated movies with that kind of plot/sub-plot would have them be outwardly nasty or hostile towards her. Here, they seem to _want_ her there, at least until their...queen? Yeah, queen, has her put into storage. Of note are how two of the dolls are really careful helping her out of the mold when they realize she isn't going to fit (keeping a secure hold on her hands so she doesn't fall), and the lyric (that I only understand via auto-translate) "Be bold! Discover your talents!" Which is pretty interesting for a bunch of fashion dolls that are _supposed_ to embody conformity and toxic beauty standards. I adore this actually!! It’s so much more realistic, and honestly makes the message hit harder. It’s like these girls want to help her fit in because they don’t want her to be ridiculed or be seen as “lesser” because of how she looks. What they’re doing is still hurtful, but weirdly shows the fact that, in an ignorant sense, they care about her. I can even say I’ve gone through exactly that in my life, especially from my mom, since she’s always tried really hard to make me look and act more femininely (being unaware I’m non binary), and it’s hard for me to be fully mad at her. Even if it does make me uncomfortable. She worries about me being bullied for certain things, and tends to pressure me to put makeup on, but it makes me feel for her because she wants me to do these things to make me feel beautiful. The movie is The Return of Buratino! Its a Russian movie about toys
The barbie girls "accepting" the little doll on a surface level and trying to help her fit the mold as well is much more effective than if they were just straight up bullies. that is how beauty standards and people who benefit from them work: they dont outright bully you for being different from it, but they will pressure you to follow it from seemingly a place of good heartness.
it's never "haha, your pink wavy hair is so ugly", more like backhanded compliments "hey, im fully aware that bright colors in your hair make you happier and this is your natural hair texture you like to maintain, but it makes me uncorfortable how much you like it so im gonna completely ignore your feelings. im gonna say hey, why dont you let your natural hair color show? it's so pretty! wow, youd look so much prettier with your hair straightened!"

I adore this actually!! It’s so much more realistic, and honestly makes the message hit harder. It’s like these girls want to help her fit in because they don’t want her to be ridiculed or be seen as “lesser” because of how she looks. What they’re doing is still hurtful, but weirdly shows the fact that, in an ignorant sense, they care about her.
I can even say I’ve gone through exactly that in my life, especially from my mom, since she’s always tried really hard to make me look and act more femininely (being unaware I’m non binary), and it’s hard for me to be fully mad at her. Even if it does make me uncomfortable. She worries about me being bullied for certain things, and tends to pressure me to put makeup on, but it makes me feel for her because she wants me to do these things to make me feel beautiful. It’s just that my definition of beauty is different from hers.
also, the pure irony that i’m blonde, blue-eyed, relatively thin/curvy and quite feminine-looking, when i dont want to be 😭 (at least not the last two)
