I’ve done several 21 day kayak trips in the grand. The equipment was fine. 2 guys who did it had only been kayaking for 2 weeks. Many smaller rivers are far more difficult. It’s a great trip.
I've privately rafted the canyon 3 times now (2 Dec & 1 Oct), and the next time I run it I really want to do it as a self-support kayaking trip. I need to actually learn how to paddle a WW kayak first. As I understand it the Canyon is a good place to hone one's skill, it's made me a damn good boater over the past few years.
+Ryan James - Yeah, it's not a bad place to hone your skills. There is a lot of flat water paddling of course, but the rapids don't have a lot of bad consequences...
I gotcha. Well, we paddled about 20 miles a day to get to the camp spots we wanted to camp at. You have to look at a map and have it planned out pretty well. It's pretty easy to see the best places to get out. You can get out on most of the river actually. You just want to find the best sandbars. After the flood there are lots of great sand bars!
All the pining in the beginning about how it gives you perspective and changes the way you see the world and makes you realize your roll, queue the atrocious trashy dubstep
That was epic!! I'm picking up white water rafting soon, a lot of flooding happening in my area. I'll be running some urban and sub-urban creeks along with wild rivers. I'm so pumped, starting in a liquid logic remix xp9.. Awesome video, I just subscribed!
Hey Elisabeth - we're a team and this is what we do. We go on expeditions, and make videos. It is work though, so don't let the glamor get to you too much! :) Check out our website - untamedscience(dot)com
I agree Bob. When ppl are in nature, they want to hear nature sounds. It's pretty obnoxious how ppl always feel the need to put noise in there disguised as music. I had to mute it.
Why is this extreme?? I took my play boat down the Grand and it was fun...but extreme??? No way is that over class IV unless maybe it was flood stage or something????
I always describe the Grand Canyon as the largest class 3's you will ever run.especially in kayak, they are all straight forward lines with no consequences. They are just huge.
This looked like a private trip which have a very hard permit to get, lots of required gear, a lot of planning, and multiday river experience. Commercial trips can be found on the internet pretty easily. They do motorized trips as well which are much quicker.
This comment is on every kayak video over and it has to be the most annoying thing. No one gives a shit what you think about the music. People have different tastes. Make your own videos and you can pick the music.
Trying to figure that out. I had it in the timeline when I edited it, and now I can't find it. I usually drop the name in the description. It's stock music from vimeo's music store...

Thank you!
The “extreme” is the snow and the temperatures.
Paddled it during the simulated flood in 1996, 45,000 fps, it was a lot of fun!!! Big but not hard compared to some high water runs in Calif.
Whoah. That sounds intense.
@@UntamedScience It was a lot of fun!!!

Beautifu video.

February 1-12th... It was COLD. That was the most extreme part of the whole trip.
Going on the bucket list!

Damn some those peeps swam a lil quick. Nice film though.
Kayaking is on my bucket list for sure, but I guess I will start with something less rough ;)
The Grand Canyon isn't too bad, but I'd start with a slightly smaller river...
Rob Nelson Films I like your channels. Great videos!
UberTee Thanks UberTee! That's great to hear that feedback. I'm trying...
Awesome footage and great edit
Liquid Adventuring - Thanks!

Interesting. How old are you btw? Trying to get a feel for the demographic here.
The sound of rushing water is essentially white noise. No video is entertaining with white noise I'm sorry.
That's sick!!! Omggg
Best video
So this may be a dumb question, but what do you do and how when you want to get out? Oh and by the way great video!
Same way you get out when you are done for the day. Pull the skirt off.
Did a 21 day trip in the grand canyon🤘
I wanna say it was at 30,000. I think it was a pretty standard flow actually.
Pablo!!!
Awesome!!!!!!!!!
i ran the grand canyon (colorado river) for 21 days and i saw some of the craziest whitewater we were in a huge raft
That's fun very fun I have a kayice

This is a goal of mine. What business(es) support(s) these trips? Where do I sign up?

This is the most hyped and ridiculous whitewater video I have ever seen. There is nothing extreme about the Grand Canyon.
Dont be a fucking hater.
Lots of extreme about the Grand Canyon, but no extreme whitewater.
Agreed. Big but not extreme.
Agreed. Everybody that's anybody has done the Canyon... Not knocking the Canyon, I guided there for several years.
Oh I know, I meant out the river.
holy shit 4:22
I went down the GC and I am 11 and I did 21 days
Kayaked it when I was 14, did 18. I'm 21 now. Need to get back soon...
Great film ruined by bad music.
