WHO ARE WE?
We're Bob and Hillary, and we're on a journey to see the world in our Van. We are all about being real. We want to show you the real side of traveling by Van and our experience of buying two Vans. We share our highs and lows, ups and downs, and everything in between.

We've started a drinking game: every time the VanCaskeys say "wow" we take a swig. Rest assured, we're not driving. HA! Love you guys.
Bahahaha! You must be wasted 😂
We recently purchased (6 mos ago) a used 2020 Travato 59KL National parks edition. The Lithium is totally unbelievable. Comes with those summo springs and 4 lithium batteries. The batteries are charged while you drive and we can go at least 4 days easy without adding additional power to our batteries. If the voltage system (batteries) goes below 30% you can have the engine automatically come on. If you drive for 1 hour you are completely recharged. We rarely plug in if we go to a campground. And No generator needed. We can run air/ heat , convection oven all without external power. At the same time. We have owned every type of Rv, truck camper, class c, class A, travel trailer, fifth wheel and now this van. We are full timers since 2009) and park a 5th wheel at a permanent sight and now travel in the travato for short to long excursions. The class A is not camping it’s RVing! Or clamping as they say now. It wonderful but you tend to stay inside more and miss the outdoors which is what RVing is about. We love your channel and catch your new ones as soon as they come out. Keep up the good job you are doing.
How is it using the twin beds as a lounge or work area? Between your feet dangling and possibly your head hitting the cabinets when setting straight?
I’ve been keeping an eye out for the national park edition G model, but those seem to be more rare than the K, which doesn’t help finding a great price. That lithium though, with being new to RVs, it seems so much more freeing than having to worry about when you can use AC and having to run / maintain a generator. It’s why I’m often flipping between a used 2020 +/- Pleasure Way Lexor FL. Great build quality, open and cozy, but a 3-way fridge and older / louder generator, and 200 amp lithium for general use.
We are retired so no work needed here. We do prop ourselves up against the window with pillows behind or against the back head-board wall. Haven’t had the need for a step stool but that is an option, we usually put our feet across to the other bed. The cabinets are high enough that we do not have a problem hitting them. We’d like to replace the table with a lagun table. It is quite long and you can only sit on one size. We eat at the front with chairs turned around and side trays pulled out. The fridge on the KL is only electric and uses very little power when parked. Lots of usb outlets that don’t need the inverter running so we save power there. Newer generators and air conditioners are quieting down. But you still cannot run the generator in a lot of places after certain hours. I think the freedom of the lithium model cannot be appreciated unless you’ve had one.
Hey Bob and Hillary. Great video. So fun to make a cameo appearance. Sounds like you are getting serious about replacing Mr Lemon. Having just gone through the process again, I thought I'd offer some helpful advice. With good credit, you can put less than 2% down (that's 2% not 20%) and still get the best interest rate. Also, it's not a bad thing to purchase the extended warranty, if you want it. Just don't take the first offer the finance person offers you. If you hold out a firm no, they will usually tell you that they like you and are willing to cut you a deal and cut the warranty cost in half, for the same coverage. Now is a great time to buy 2024 closeout deals as the first 2025's are starting to come in. They also get back end money from the manufacturer, so there's usually a little room left to negotiate, even on their advertised, slashed prices. The "Sprekko" you like is a great vehicle. We considered it too. If it wasn't for the cassette toilet, we may have bought it. The Compass we ended up with was much less expensive and has a black tank. If you look, you should be able to find a new 2024 for around $110,000. Always enjoy your videos.
Take care and God bless!
Kirk and Christine
You guys make fun and informative videos. Your presentation never seems rushed, so relaxed. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much!
If you like the layout of the Travato K, I would suggest checking out the Coachmen Beyond RB, which is a similar layout, but roomier with more headroom. Plus, love the Ford Transit with the 3.5L Ecoboost. A bit more expensive, but just saying.
30:05 our rear view mirror is like that in our Sprinter van. It’s reflective, but it’s also a back up camera. We bought the always on rear view camera you installed, but we don’t have ours in yet.
Oh good to know! Thanks!
Hey Bob and Hillary! Have you ever heard of Tim's Awesome Projects? Tim has a RUclips channel by that name where he customizes existing vehicles for folks. He builds slide outs for Class B's, very interesting stuff. However, his Class B conversions start at $90K (not including the van) so it's likely too pricey to make Mr. Lemon nervous. 😂 I just thought I'd mention it as an interesting indy van customizer to check out. I think he's in the southern US. Happy weekend!
Yes, everyone do your research on sales taxes. In my state, if you buy and live in the state, you pay the sales tax for the location it will be registered, not the sales tax where you buy it.
sales tax is based on where you register, not where you buy....
We have a 21 59k and absolutely love it. The rear camera can stay on while driving through the center counsel screen. But it is a perfect van 🤣
The 2024 Entegra Coach Accolade Super Class C RV that you were looking at is actually built on the Ford F-600 XLT cutaway chassis with the 6.7 liter Power Stroke 450 horsepower diesel engine, but you have the information in the video saying that it's a Freightliner S2RV chassis with a Cummins ISB 6.7 liter 360 horsepower engine.
We love the 59 gl.
Love your freeway entrance from Picacho Peak. Have you climbed it? Did it in 2021. Left CG in April to move into my Embassy Dolphin SS. So happy to be a full-time van lifer again! Ya’ll are so cute!
Every year, for annual trip to tombstone and Bisby ❤
Sweet!
I have a 2023 Travato and in 9 months I have put 20K miles on it. No issues. Love it! Bucket list is to make a trip up to Alaska some day
Sweet!!!! So happy for you!
🎉
We bought a 2022 59gl Travato last summer. We love traveling in it!
After hunting around for two years, over the Travado, we are focusing on the Coachman RV Nova RB which is the same floor plan and comes with the shocks upgrade.
We LOVE that one. It’s a little more $$ but the quality seems amazing.
Gotta get a Transit chassis! I went from ProMaster to Transit and WOW what a difference!
Look at all those fancy drone shots following your van around! Very nice!
Thank you!!!
9:26 I’m back to finish watching lol . . . Love that Winnebago!! Especially if it doesn’t have any slides.
Could be a mirror with camera. Our Roadtrek has a digital camera rearview mirror and it is also reflective when the van is turned off, just like a regular mirror.
:) THANKS MUCH for sharing! Too hot for sure as I don't do well above 70 :) Travato might have to do and take the rear storage and spare to transfer over from Mr. Lemon? :) ALL the BEST and Cheers! ! !
Thanks, Marty! We did love that Travato and the price wasn't terrible.
@@Vancaskeys Thanks much again! Maybe a Travato in your future? :) Take care and safe travels! :)
Class B tour suggestion. Tiffin GH1. I don't recall you ever finding one of these...It's in the style of Overland/Revel/Terrain...etc.
We stayed a week in the Catalina State Park near Tucson over Christmas one year and it snowed on Christmas Eve. Very very cold that night. If we ever get another RV we have decided on. Super C like the one you toured. We love boon docking so we like it to be beefy and high off the ground. The only problem is gas mileage on those suck. We would also outfit our super C with enough solar to run the whole thing. Very nice video as always. Happy travels!
Hi. Great video as always. I would say go for the EKKO. We have a 23E/23T EKKO in a Ford transit. We love it a lot and it has everything we need to get out there. We also live in AZ and we use our EKKO not just for camping but also when we go out to the lakes, parks, hiking and doing our photography hobby. It is so versatile and it is all you need and more! :)
Never lived there but I have visited a few times.
Awesome!
The Travato is great!
I've been there
That's a bat wing awning on the back so it comes around over that outside kitchen.
Bob, “well, my second love”
Me thinking 🤔 :::hmm is he going to say his first is Hillary or the storyteller
Bob “you’re my first”
Good save Bob 🥹🥹☺️ so sweet!
Haha. Thank you!
We have lived in Tucson most of our lives. It has its pluses and minuses but we prefer it over Phoenix for sure.
Enjoy your videos, I’m retired in Vail just outside of Tucson. Your at the rv show I was going to but changed my mind…
hi guys n I wonder why you don't try to find slightly used models RVs? Some people email dealers all over the country to see who would give them best deal on the model they love. Now that you both have more experience with noticing construction of certain models, I think you both would do better in purchasing a new rig or slightly used model. thks rox
I’ve seen lots of class B Ram Promasters on the ALCAN, and you could probably do just as fine in one on the Dalton Highway, at least to the Arctic Circle, which is as far as I have been. Not quite to Prudhoe Bay. Y’all seem to mostly boon dock/off-grid camp while simultaneously exploring towns utilizing street parking as you move. A class A, super C, travel trailer or 5th wheel just doesn’t seem to fit your high speed, low drag kind of exploring style. I’m sticking to my B+/C- AWD Ekko or Granite Ridge recommendation. After spending 6ish weeks on the road, the extra head room will be appreciated and you will still be nimble. I am excited to see what y’all choose. 😁
Thanks for another great video.
Love you guys…I look forward to and watch all of your videos as I try to decide what RV I’d like to get, eventually. One gentle request, $181,987. is not $181k. It is $182k. A small criticism but it makes me crazy when you drop an additional $1,000.
Hello Hillary and Bob, my wife and I were in Tucson the winter of 2021. There we stayed at Montham Air Force Base for a month. Full hook ups and lots of sunshine. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures.
Terry
Very cool, Terry! Where are you guys from? Hopefully escaping the snow?
Hello Bob and Hillary, we are from Bend Oregon. Very similar to Arizona high desert. Our home is at about 4200 feet. If you ever visit here a walk up pilot butte or the river walk on the deschutes River. For Bob there are plenty of brewing pubs for a local beer. Lots of places to camp or rv. Of forgot to mention with our 20 foot trailer we stayed at Luke airforce Base in Glendale. Beautiful area and people.
Terry
I have the Thor Sequence 20L love that twin bed floor plan Love your videos ❤️
Our Sprekko will be here late June. We’ll let you know how it turns out.
Tucson is where I live…yes the sales tax is much lower here. He wasn’t wrong! It’s what I paid in sales tax when I purchased my 2022 Thor Rize 18M.
If they ever put the Travato on an Awd Transit that will be the end for all other B vans. Come at me bro!
Lol! Love this!
You guys are just stinkin adorable! I think you should sell the house and buy that super C. Hehe. Love your videos …always
We ordered a Westfalia Wave. Waiting patiently for delivery
Hi Bob and Hillary! Thanks for taking us along again. 😊 The bigger riga are tempting, but seem like a lot to lug around. 🤷🏻♂️😅
I love Tucson! Have you taken Mr. Lemon up Mt. Lemon? 🤔😉
You guys are the best! ❤🙏
Hi Joe! We have not taken Mr. Lemon up to Mt. lemon yet...we were just talking about this. We need to. Those rigs seemed amazing but way to much for us.
We love our 2023 Travato and haven't had any issues so far. I'm still getting used to the driver's seat as I always feel it sits too high. By the way it does have a digital mirror and Sumo springs as a standard feature.
Funny we feel the same way about the drivers seat sitting to high. Wish we could lower it. Are you tall?
@@Vancaskeys I'm only 5'10" and I have to crouch down sometimes to see anything above the front of the van.
@@philc.9280 Yes...us too! We do love the Travato! Great choice.
Do your research if you like the Accolade XT, I run a FB group on them and they are having major issues, cab/body separation, walls cracking and if the Ford engine has issues the cab usually has to come off……how is that going to work? ;)
Oh had no idea. Very good info. We are not looking for another Lemon. LOL
Live in Phoenix. Travel to Tucson a couple times a year.
Very cool!
Don't be afraid to make an offer...$168.500...on the Sprinter EKKO w/Batwing, Gen + 1 Lithionics battery. Or $175,000 out the door at a Central Florida Dealer. We declined because not enough storage and the lack of a real hanging closet. Yup, even with the garage. That MSRP is really BS.
And they are not selling that quick as they would like you to believe.
Love your videos
Have you considered a Coachman Beyond with the rear bath? It’s on a transit.
OMG- The second I saw a video of the XO, I knew it was one that you would want! Hope you find one to share. According to LaMesa, they have one in transit to the Fremont, CA location.
LOL! That’s good to know! Thanks for sharing!
Is that a Beast? Need a Stealth or mystic XO.
And never buy any RV until they have 47 of them.
you should probably look at a AEONrv
I like the Travato, except the color of the wood. It reminds me of someones grandparents house. 😂 But I love all of the vans where the bathroom is at the back like that.
I totally agree about the dark wood! -Hillary
I often pass thru Tucson & usually stop off for a great grinder, messy but good frozen fruit treat, & deadly fries at eegee's. I know people who love the city, but I've never really felt drawn to explore it. Maybe some day....
We have had our Roadtrek Play SRT for 6 months and love it. We decided on simple controls and the upgraded Promaster chasis has been nice. The only thing is that the driver captain seat does not swivel the full 180 degrees because of the bathroom. I am 6'3" and wide and I fit in it with little crouching.
Very cool!
Bob….would love to ask you a few questions about your opinion on the new Ram Promaster chassis and transmission. Is your current “Mr Lemon” Tellaro the newest chassis or the old one? Also, do you think the new transmission would be better in the mountains ?
They have the previous style front end & cab interior.
Just bought your merch for Father's Day 😂 Hubby will love his hoody! ❤
Awwwwww!!!!!! So sweet!!!!
Love that rig. You could full time in that! Van…not so much 😢
Another comment as a former Travato owner (G). I would assume that's a digital mirror because our little bottom-of-the-line Solis Pocket has a digital rearview mirror. And from 2020.5 on, the Travatos all come equipped with Sumo springs standard.
(And apropos to what you were saying about paying attention to how hard it is to access storage, that's why I hated our Travato. With the bed down, I couldn't reach any of the overhead cabinets and there weren't very many in that van. And I didn't realize that until the day we brought it home. Also, our cabinets had that same dark walnut, and I found it really dark and oppressive after a while. When we bought it, it seemed very elegant and sophisticated with the white leather seats. But after a while, the dog got the seats dirty, and the inside with the dark walnut cabinets just felt like a tomb.
Just a few little things to think about before you plop down your life savings on a campervan.
If you live in Montana or Oregon you can have zero sales tax😂
That awesome! So looks like we need to go to Montana or Oregon 😂
Also, mine came with the digital mirror and sumo springs. Those should be standard on the 2023’s and newer
Oh sweet! Thanks for sharing this.
Are you ever considering visiting a custom build company?
Actually yes. Stay tuned. Should have a video up in June 😃
I love the Modvan on a Transit with a full pop up top.
Just a friendly reminder that Entegra is another fine Thor product.
Have been to Tucson, absolutely love it there, can't say the same about Phoenix. Tucson has those mountain views, easy access to great hiking, it's higher and cooler. We talked about buying a second home there in 2019. We thought we could go visit anytime we wanted and rent it out to vacationers the rest of the time. Glad we didn't because a few months later Covid hit. And we'd already pretty much ruled it out, simply because from SFO/OAK there's no direct flights. It involves changing planes in LAX or PHX. Not a slick route to get there. We'd move there in a heartbeat if they had Kaiser. Our two basic requirements are proximity to Kaiser and Trader Joe.
Love yall’s videos. They have really helped me in my search for a van.
Question. What is your opinion on the 2024 Thor Motor Coach Tranquility 19R?
From reviews on Thor products, I have kinda stayed away from them.
Thanks and looking forward to future videos!
We loved the dessert museum there
Very cool! 😎
Us too. Especially the vintage Tiramisu.
I find it hilarious that the Winnebago 'National Park Edition' RV won't be allowed in most National Parks because it's too big.
Omg! Didn’t even think of that 😂
Exactly…just what I was thinking the whole time they were showing it…
National Indoor RV is the closest place to us (and ya’ll) that have Coachman since La Mesa and such dont sell them.
I have decided to take a step back from all types of rv's. I have the cash and or excellent credit to get want I want but just do not trust any of the products coming off the line. I still ha e my 2022 Capri Retreat truck camper that is just about paid off and going to stuck with it. Pretty much two years of trouble free ownership is a rarity these days.
You will have to check out the Noovo Plus when it comes out in September. Just watched a video and it has 7ft ceiling. 😳
Stay tuned….we might be getting see this soon 🤫
The Entegra … you couldn’t camp without putting slides out. Had a 5th wheel like that and couldn’t wait to get rid of it.
Oh that’s a great point. Didn’t think of that.
Loved the video as always but I'm really stuck on the Ford chassis in the B vans. Should I not be so obsessed?
Sales tax in Tucson/Pima County varies from 6.1%-8.7% depending on where the business is located.
Thanks for the info!
After a year in my Thor sequence I’m looking hard at the Ekko. But I think I like the transit a little better. I drive a sprinter for work every day and really not impressed.
Same. 😅 just wish it wasn’t expensive.
Have you watched Big Truck Big Travels with sondra and david? Great people amd they went to alaska for 7 months counting getting to border. Great videos and they bought a Magnitude. You might want to watch from the start of planning and the driving on the roads and maneuvering. They have been living FT in theory rigs. Just suggesting because good people and they explain everything about traveling, saving money, maps, apps etc I really like the class C you showed. And i liked the EKKO. I have always lived this one. They have the best ned situation. I have liked the Travato but not the bed even though it is twins. Where will you put bedding? That is my problem with the twins
Would like a dozen light colored Mode XOs, no beasts.
Classics, mystics and stealths?
Are they selling?
There's one for sale here in Hamilton Montana it's only got 40,000 Mi on it the lady got ill and had to leave travels and I think it was just over a hundred k
Stay Safe😊
Thanks Barbara! You too!
😅😅😅😂 cute ending.
Haha! Thanks!
Hi Bob & Hillary I wonder if you have seen the 2025 Thor Gemini AWD Rear Twin Bed, which I think you would appreciate. Let me know.. Thanks
I could imagine Mr. Lemon being replaced by Mr. Beefy
I still think that a ford transit EKKO is in your future. However,if you are looking at another promaster, i suggest winnebago tellero or coachmen. Taking mr. Lemon
up to alaska. He might
suprise you..
The Travato is my pick
👏👏👏
You only live once get the EKKO , and enjoy
I don't like the B vans.
But B+ or a small C.
The twin beds are nice & convenient, but 28" is not very wide to sleep on
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Entegra THREE slides? that's enough lemons for lemonade
😂😂😂
I do believe you pay sales tax to the state in which you reside or title the vehicle, at least that's the way it is in Wisconsin for motor vehicles.
So should I join here, and drop my Patreon account or keep the Patreon? I don't really understand the Patreon anyway.
Well, in California you pay sales tax on where you register it. which is your home address. So unless you have a home address in a city or county that has less sales tax, you are still going to pay the sales tax for where you live. Remember the golden rule. You know a sales man is lying when "their lips are moving".
I dont get the attraction to Class B... It is not sunny every day, and you can end up in bad weather for a week. Imagine being stuck in 60sq ft for a week? There are MANY Class C and Class a RVs around 30' long for the same or less money. I much rather be stuck in 200sq ft, and have all the amenities of a home.
Hola, Bob & Hillary. I live in Tucson and own a 2024 Embassy Dolphin S. I've had zero--yep: ZERO--problems in about 7K miles. You won't find an Embassy at a dealer or RV show, they're factory direct from Elkhart, IN. They feature many innovations such as no wood, no propane, no black tank. See ruclips.net/video/12_swoaV-v4/видео.html. They say their new B+, to be announced in June, will blow the Ekko out of the water.
I think that huge slide would be a huge problem. Since Thor bought Winnebago the quality has gone down.
That Travato little fridge would not work for me. I don't like twin bed models at all. I am curious why are so many people are into the twin beds?
your favorite is a cassette toilet rig? could you really live in a rig full time with a cassette?
You know that the Storyteller you were looking for costs about $237K right? Looks like a pretty disappointing RV “show” from your drone shots.
Beast is too Beasty.
Why do you guys always go and see the RV that your husband like, and you say no he is not going to get it because of the cost? Knowing that you can trade your old RV for a new one. Then your wife says she don't like the bathroom, but yet your bathroom in your old RV is too small for her height. Then you say a person will not pay high taxes in Arizona if you buy an RV, what is wrong with this picture? What is a miser?
Who design these interior? Feel like the 1990s 2000 designer never retire. Looks like some old lazy designer that love to pick items from lowest quality section from home depot. And those outside tacky graphic design....just fire these designers and hire someone YOUNGER
Agree, Sometimes I wonder that too.
