Quantitative Assessment of Conifer Regeneration with UAV Imagery - Jason Holmes

Young stands of jack pine that originate from seed versus traditional planted seedlings can be time-consuming to inventory using on-the-ground sampling methods. Despite the general excitement about UAVs in the forestry community, few examples of quantitative sampling methods exist, especially for young stands. Bayfield County Forestry and Bayfield County Land Records teamed up to evaluate seed-origin jack pine regeneration using a UAV.
